MJ was a Sex God -- While Media Pretends Not to Notice

AMAZING post!
I really hope a lot of people read your comment on that site, because you make such fantastic points and it's articulated so well.

Also, um, this person needs to be directed the Manhood thread in the MITM forum...

Michael was an incredibly sexy man, but sexiness does not always correspond with looks (even though I have honestly always found him attractive in every "era"), but it encompasses a huge number of things.

It's disgusting that the media had created this idea of Michael as this hideous, inhuman creature whose nose was falling off and who wanted to look like a white woman, when in reality he really hadn't changed that much aside from perhaps the color of his skin.
(Also, god, the man was aging and becoming mature)

I think he was a threat - he was the opposite of the typical American idea of "masculinity" and totally threatened the American macho mentality.
I honestly think men felt threatened by him, and their recourse was to tear him down in this way and try to emasculate him.

When really, Michael was more of a man than any of them could ever hope to be.

Sad.

I think that is very probably true.

They probably do assume it ended after thriller... But actually, from what I've observed, it's the post thriller era that most women seem to be attracted to! and not so much the thriller era itself.

I mean the fans just seemed to go crazier and crazier for him as the years went by.

I can say that my mom and I agree that his "best era" (or should I say sexiest era, lol) was around Bad and Dangerous. I think it's probably because he was in his late 20's and early 30's. Men's best years :).

Oh, yes and yes! There are quite enough women and men in the world that find him sexy so we don"t need to care about ignorant ppl. Eventhough the beauty is in the eye of a beholder...there are some people that are simply beautiful. Like Michael.
His body...his face, eyes, lips, his smile...his voice, omg. He is a definition of sexy and hot. His Royal Sexyness.
And those ppl who still call him asexual would be really surprised if they knew him. There are more testemonies that he was a great lover. His body-moves says enough.

I'm just gonna say I was surprised to see so many young chicks scream ohhhh i love you Michael in the theatre when he did the crotch grab lol......

Ahaha same with my theater!
There was some girl who could simply not contain herself and kept yelling at the screen and making moaning sounds.

Yea they were hollering during the whole crotch grab lol. What happened to Mike being unattractive?lol

hehe! bet some of them reporters were squealing like little girls! They're just afraid to admit it :girl_sigh:

:toofunny: oh man! that's hysterical! not sure how comfortabel I'd be sitting next to her though!!

:heat:Michael was the sexiest man ever. He was beautiful, sweet, pure, shy at times..but then in control..and that made him so much more loveable. People were threatened by what he had. This man made tons of people fall at his feet (faint) and made people wheep and scream for him! I've said it once before and I'll say it again..MJ could make women orgasm with just his voice ALONE... So when people talk shit and press writes crap..they need to take another LOOK!

I have some beautiful pics of MJ..and all I have to say is I need to...!!!!:fear::naughty:

Some of you are probably like:shock:
hahahaaaa....

LA Times: MJ's "sex appeal... comes into focus in the film"

The morning of the film's premiere, Bergman pulled out snapshots of Jackson trying on clothes at his house, and called him her "supermodel" because he fit into anything, including women's clothes. She emphasized his sex appeal ("He's sooooooo sexxxy!"), which comes into focus in the film for the first time in a long time....

'This Is It' movie showcases Michael Jackson's fashion comeback

I so totally agree with you guys. Michael has always been to me the most sexiest, hottest, and gorgeous person in the entire world and that has ever lived. Sure there other famous men that I find sexy and hot. But they don't come no where near as close to Michael Jackson. Which is why I always hate it when People Magazine does there sexiest man alive. They always have some male celeb on their cover that I don't find sexy at all. And I will always say it should be Michael on the cover not that guy. I could never understand why they would chose to ignore Michael Jackson as being sexy. Those people that works for People Magazine probably never saw Michael's videos for In The Closet, Come Together, and Blood On The Dance Floor. Just to name a few. Just looking at those videos you can tell just how sexy and hot Michael really is. He just totally oozes with sex in those videos. I just don't understand why the media always chooses to ignore that. When it comes to Michael.

Yep. Now, I've always found the usual suspects in People Magazine pretty enough, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, George Clooney... (Johnny Depp's androgyny keeps him at the top, ironically!) And the women, Lopez, Berry, Brolie, etc.) Yes, they seem sexy... but in the most abstract way. I'm sorry Michael felt pressured to conform to this.

Michael was a singer, songwriter, and dancer, so his sexiness was rooted in his music, thoughts, and dancing. Thus it remained unchanged throughout the evolution of his face and physique.

Sexy is a state of mind. It's how you direct your body. Anyone of any age and shape can be sexy. The media promote a shallow and intolerant brand of sexiness. Some did not get it with Michael, but I think it more likely most did and were afraid to admit it.

You can imagine the scene. The critic has to report on the latest MJ video or performance, pencil and notebook in hand. "Ah, yes, ethereal voice... dances better than Gene Kelly... wow, amazing lyrics... that tune, it's just grabbing me... hmmm, is it getting a little hot in here?... oh noes! Can't write what I'm thinking now down... people might think I'm a) gay or b) not a real woman..."

That was a funny way of describing the journalists dilemma...........
But you are right when you say sexy is a state of mind. I know that from my perspective, what i find sexy in Michael would have been there into old age. Its something about his personality that wins me over. The quirky sense of humour, the energy, the kindness and then mix in the man who is in charge when he wants something ( as seen in the movie, while directing people about how he wants things done). Its in how he sings like an angel one moment, and then the moment when he "growls" with passion. Its in the rythm, that seem to be the the embodyment of lifes rythm itself. He would have understood how to extend things, to pause, and have you begging for more.... ( and the rest of my dirty mind I think I will keep to myself........).

He was extremely handsome, very attractive and the biggest crush I have ever had. I love that he could have such raw sexual energy but at the same time maintain such innocence and grace - very unique and special. I don't know how any woman could not feel drawn to him.

I agree.
Before, around the 80's and early 90's, did magazines do that sort of "the sexiest" lists?. If they did, did they include Michael?.

Thanks to Michael Jackson, with his physical beauty and also his amazing personality, morals, values and beliefs, I now have what some may call "too high" of a standard for men.

To me, none can compare. And since Michael was somewhat of an "ideal" for me, I can't seem to find anyone close to that caliber. His looks (before and after surgeries) were gorgeous beyond words to me. His morals are hard to find in young men these days as well.

Thanks a lot Michael....

Omigosh, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one with this (very real) dilemma...

Without his disease of vitiligo and the depigmentation it forced him to undertake, his plastic surgery, though of course a failure, would have worked far better.

A complete failure? What, exactly, about his surgery was a complete failure? He is beautiful to the last.

yes!!!! Michael is always the most beautiful and sexiest man to me

i know what you mean.

This is a very interesting question. I've been curious about this same thing. You always hear how he was such a childhood heartthrob in the teen magazines, but what about into his teens? And then 80s and 90s?

As y'all can see, I'm very interested in the media treatment (and dismissal) of Michael's striking sexual charisma. If y'all find anything, post your links here. Thanks!

Meanwhile, it's been awesome reading your own impressions of the guy.

I think the women here have been especially fascinated to hear from those of you straight men who've been kind enough to give your take on MJ's sexuality -- I wonder if any of you used his style or moves? Did it work? :) And how about you GLBTs?

Bo

But I didn't say "complete failure." I agree with you, to me he stayed beautiful to the last.

While you and perhaps some other fans here disagree, I don't think it's controversial to acknowledge that most think he overdid it. It needed to be briefly mentioned since it played a role in the media's treatment of him. That's all that needs to be said about it, so we can stay on topic.
