Murray's Arraignment - all threads merged

Re: LAPD/D.A. Feud Derails Dr. Murray Arraignment

Karen said on her FB that we have to call LAPD and say that fans are going to protest if they will not arrest Murray. Do we have to call? Just saying.

Press Conference this afternoon - cancelled [Charges To Be Filed Monday Feb 8]

TMZ is reporting Murrays lawyers will be having a press conference this afternoon on the steps of the courthouse. Apparently it is to complain about how they are in the middle of the dispute betweens the DA and the LAPD. Its not known if he will be there. As of right now charges will not be filed today

Re: LAPD/D.A. Feud Derails Dr. Murray Arraignment

I agree...this whole thing is being made into a circus....if the authorities didn't want it to ..it is to late...they are the one's that have made it one.

I dont think they understand what it is they are doing to us.....it doesnt really matter how he gets arrested...as long as he does...I could care less if he rides a bike while juggling through the front door of the police station...as long as he gets charged.

All they are accomplishing at this point is for his lawyer to say...My client was there and noone charged him with anything"........Murray's lawyer is not a stupid man he is taking full advantage of what is going on between the Lapd and the DA.....He is trying to drum up sympathy for his client.......HE will never get sympathy from me...

I totally agree! Murray and his team are going to show up, and Murray will show the "I'm ready to surrender face" then if the DA ends up not filing the charges, they will have the advantage of saying "ha, see, the prosecution isn't even ready yet!" See, now they are going to hold a news conference and according to TMZ "We're told attorneys Ed Chernoff and J. Michael Flanagan will publicly complain that they have become pawns in a feud between the L.A. County D.A. and the LAPD."

Conrad Murray News Conference
Posted Feb 5th 2010 2:01PM by TMZ Staff
In the rockiest start to a criminal prosecution ever .... we're now told that Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers plan on holding a news conference near the courthouse where Dr. Murray was set to be arraigned today in the death of Michael Jackson.

We're told attorneys Ed Chernoff and J. Michael Flanagan will publicly complain that they have become pawns in a feud between the L.A. County D.A. and the LAPD.

Although Chernoff's publicist told TMZ this morning Dr. Murray will come to the courthouse ... it's unclear if he'll be at the news conference.

Unless things change in the next hour, criminal charges will not be filed against Dr. Murray today.

TMZ broke the story about the feud between the D.A. and the LAPD over how Dr. Murray is brought to court. The D.A. was working with Murray's lawyers for a voluntary surrender ... the LAPD wants to place him under arrest and bring him into court.

Of course, TMZ will cover the news conference live ... we're guessing it should go down around 1:30 PM PT.

UPDATE: Ed Chernoff just confirmed the news conference, but said due to "safety concerns" it will be held at a park 12 blocks from the courthouse. He did not say if Dr. Murray will be there.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

This is all planned.

Well you usually plan a press conference LOL unless you turn up..........without the press.............its a conference................with ones self :)

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

This is all planned.

Exactly, they saw a chance to be the "good guys" and are jumping on this chance. I bet if this goes to trial (there's a chance for a plea bargain) then they will throw this in the LAPD, DA's face some how. Like TMZ said, this is a rocky way to start this whole thing out. They need to get their crap together.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

UPDATE 2: A spokesman for the Sheriff's Department confirms the press conference will be moved, but says there were no "safety concerns."

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

ohh boohoo they are "caught in the middle." I don't give a shit how they feel. What about Michael's children? The fans? unbelievable.

I can't believe Murray's lawyers. They keep doin' this crap for people to have sympathy for Murray! Well, not gonna work on me, that's for sure.

LAPD/DA need to get their shit together. I'm really gettin' pissed off.

yup.....Murray's lawyer is not a stupid man..his stragedy is for the public to see Murray surrendering and to see the the LAPD and the DA have not charged him yet.....I think they believe that this will only help Murray.....They are out for PR .....this thing just needs to get moving...it is all so frustrating.

Why would they rush? Murray's team is doing a great job hanging themselves. Who act likes this if you are innocent? I think even a brain dead individual can see this and the other things he did as PR crap.

As for the DA and the LAPD fighting one another. Why are you guys still taking TMZ seriously. They have not been right about this case since June.

Re: LAPD/D.A. Feud Derails Dr. Murray Arraignment

Please read this

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-sto...s-internal-war/

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-sto...bsa:moreauthor1

...A retired senior Los Angeles police official and a Los Angeles-based defense attorney, both familiar with the specifics of the Michael Jackson death probe, describe a series of angry battles, encompassing which DA would handle the case, what charges should be brought and whether to go to a grand jury or have a preliminary hearing. This partly explains the long delay in moving forward with the case, which has puzzled so many observers. These fights, the sources said, even pitted prosecutors against their own Bureau of Investigation. Such accounts dovetail with a TMZ report yesterday that the DA's office has been feuding with the L.A. Police Department, and that today's anticipated arraignment of Dr. Murray might even be indefinitely postponed due to disagreements between the two about how he should be arrested and processed.

The defense attorney said that war among the prosecutors started last September, three months after the pop superstar died of a drug overdose. The first skirmish, a winner-take-all affair, featured two of the DA office's most powerful figures, Major Crimes's territorial chief, Patrick Dixon, and William Hodgman, the chief of Target Crimes. After Jackson's death, the Los Angeles police had dealt only with the Target Crimes Division, which describes itself as doing work on arson, crimes against peace officers, stalking and threat assessment, and child abductions. It is not clear why Target Crimes got the case in the first place. But Dixon was adamant that his Major Crimes unit, which handles all celebrity cases, should have jurisdiction. When Hodgman dug in his heels, the dispute escalated straight to the desk of the District Attorney, Steve Cooley.

Cooley, the son of an FBI agent and a career prosecutor, is the first Los Angeles County District Attorney in 70 years to be re-elected to a third term. He has a no-nonsense reputation, and sided with Dixon, much to the chagrin of Target Crimes, which had by then put in more than two months of work...

..."I had a warm relationship with Hodgman,"; Chernoff told me. The two exchanged information, and worked together in vain to try and stop the late August release of a sealed search warrant in Houston. Hodgman had even promised to call Chernoff and discuss the case before the DA settled on any charges.

The move to Major Crimes may have ended the fight over turf, but once it was there, more problems followed. David Walgren, a respected veteran who is also handling the Roman Polanski case, took on the assignment. He had no rapport with Chernoff as a starter.

“When I would call him and say, ‘Hi, this is Ed Chernoff. What’s going on?’ He would say, ‘No comment.’ I’m not kidding. He wouldn’t talk to me at all.”

Chernoff wasn’t the only one having trouble adjusting to Walgren. Throughout the fall, Walgren was at odds with Dominick Rivetti, Chief of the DA’s Bureau of Investigation. According to the former police official, who counts many current members of the DA's office as friends, some of Rivetti's investigators had dubbed the Jackson probe "a sh it case," and thought that if it were not for public and family pressure, there might not even have been a probe.

"Eight months of a costly investigation, in a bankrupt state," one prominent defense attorney told me, "they have no choice but to deliver an indictment or there would be hell to pay."

Walgren, according to the police official, had contentious meetings with Rivetti's investigators, sometimes irate that they were

-unable to draw a firm consensus on the medical evidence needed for a higher charge.

-He was also disappointed when he initially reviewed the police evidence, which reportedly included conflicting conversations with medical experts to determine whether Murray's behavior in his treatment of Jackson, especially on the fatal night, fell outside the bounds of reasonable medical practice.

- And he was disappointed, says the police official, to discover that investigators had determined that Murray's medical past did not include a large dispensing history of opiates or pain pills—the types that were prescribed in significant amounts to Jackson by other physicians.
I don't know if this has already been posted, but this tells me that justice WILL NOT BE served. These are the f***** morons we depend on to charge Murray and do Michale justice.:mat::mat::mat:

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

TMZ are not the only ones reporting this. So is CNN. There has been some feud between the LAPD and the DA, and they can not come up with an agreement. TMZ, has been right about most everything, some things are questionable. Some people just need to stop acting like kids and get there stuff straight. It's making them look bad.

Hahahaha, caught again! That is too funny. Chernoff trying to garner some sympathy for Murray by saying it was out of "safety concerns" and the Sheriff's Dept. steps in like "Uh...no...there are no safety concerns."

What a friggin' mess.

Edit after Updates 3 and 4: Wow. At first I was mad, but now it's becoming comical...Like Ramona said, they're just hanging themselves. Hopefully we're not the only ones that see through this transparent ish.

That is NOT what I am talking about.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

Something doesn't sit right with me. Why in the hell would Murray need to negotiate a surrender when charges haven't been filed and a warrant for his arrest was never placed?

When Michael was placed under arrest, a WARRANT had to be obtained by a judge and then Michael's lawyers negotiated a surrender.

All of this stinks.

No offense, but weren't these the same people who claim Murray was going to be charge Wednesday, now it is Friday and still no charges.

Seems to me that the media is just coping and pasting whatever TMZ prints.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

press conference? i hope the lock his behind up unexpectedly

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

TMZ now reports he wont be arrested until Monday now someone is taking the piss here

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

update 2: A spokesman for the sheriff's department confirms the press conference will be moved, but says there were no "safety concerns."

safety concerns my ass! He should be concerned about his clients safety, he murdered michael jackson. Does he think his children, family and fans are ok with his behavior? Wtf asshole.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

Now Chernoff's website says the news conference will be held at Polliwog Park, 3 miles from the courthouse.

See what I mean.

These are the same people who also claim an arrest would in October last year, so excuse me for taking TMZ with a mountain of salt.

Re: Press Conference this afternoon

So we will have a press conference but Murray will be arrested on Monday.. but the press conference is for what?

Conrad Murray -- Monday's the Day ... Finally
Posted Feb 5th 2010 2:32PM by TMZ Staff
The L.A. County District Attorney just said the case against Dr. Conrad Murray in the death of Michael Jackson will be filed on Monday.

As we first reported, our sources say the D.A. will file involuntary manslaughter charges against the doc.

The D.A. says information on the charges and the arraignment at Airport Court will be released after charges are filed.

The D.A. did not say if Dr. Murray will be arrested or voluntarily surrender himself in court.
