Michael Jackson's Mother to Attend Press Conference to Announce International Fan Convention

I wouldn't be going anyway. If it was in the same country then maybe but I just wouldn't be able to afford it

I wish I could be there.
I want to see Michael on big screen. Not ather singer, but only Michael.
Vender...hummmm.Popcorn,Cotton candy...
I reary want to hear Mother's word as MJ's loved MOTHER.

So, the family is organizing this?

If so,

BOYCOTT!

It is not being organized by the family. It is spearheaded by Fluid Productions (no one seems to know their history) and they recruited Katherine for extra credibility.

Most probably she is getting a cut for allowing them to use her name...but I am still curious to know who is behind Fluid prods. Either way, MJ won't get sued if this goes wrong this time.

Why oh why are such comments allowed on here? Disgraceful! My family lives in Grand Blanc and Burton Michigan just a few hours away from Gary. My sister and I( we're old as dirt) our children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews are all going. Two of my friends (more oldies) and their families are interested and probably going too. Nobody is boycotting anything. You know Michael has thousands of fans who never visit these fan boards, who love all of the Jacksons and are supportive of their efforts in dealing with the loss of Michael and keeping his legacy alive. These folks will be there. I hope it's a major success.

what other information do u have on this event?

Sorry, haven't been able to find anything. Fluid seems to be a fairly recent co. unless they don't have a webpage.

Indeed:

About Us

Fluid Entertainment, Inc. is an innovative company that focuses on providing events that support the marketing needs of companies and non-profits. The signature event of the company (produced by Fluid Productions, LLC) is the International King of Pop Fanventiontm in northwest Indiana -- 10 minutes from the childhood home of Michael Jackson.

The event will celebrate the legendary entertainer's life, his humanity and music. Only an artist as talented as Michael Jackson deserves a fan convention this great! And where else to celebrate the life and times of Michael Jackson than near his hometown?

Well... they say so much about THEM, that I actually got to know Michael Jackson better :ermm:

I would love to meet up with a few people over there to hang out with over the weekend. Sounds good. I think I'll be going.

No matter what we say, do, or feel, there's always a way to cash on our feelings through Michael. Over the years, how much memorabilia have you got? That was also cashing on our feelings about MJ, IMO.

It's always the same. We hate it because they make money, but if they don't make money, they don't do it. Then we also hate it for they don't have more stuff about MJ (about Captain EO I saw people soooo frustrated because Disney memorabilia for the film was so bad and they didn't have the original T-shirt, for instance).

We hate if no family member is involved (for they are too busy making money and they forgot about his brother/son ). And then we hated when the family is involved (for they are too much involved and getting money out of it ).

We hate it when a tribute is done (too late for those!! how can they??) and we hate it when no tributes are done (after all MJ did for them!! how can they??)

It's a no win situation
And we (and our pockets and feelings) are caught in the middle :(

 You're absolutely right about all of this. I feel happy when I can walk into any Walmart now and find MJ stuff, and even in Blockbuster, etc., but then I get upset that he had to die before any of them cared. I want to buy anything MJ that I can, but then I don't want them to profit. But I'd rather people did make money, as long as his kids are also benefiting and it keeps his legacy alive. I look at it that way. I think anything they do talking about him or selling his merchandise is a good thing in the long run. It's just been so hard since he's been gone... :(

WOW... Michael has some of the best fans.... but he also has some of the worst. I am so sick of so man of his "fans" making Michael look like a joke.

I really don't know why fans INSIST on sh*ting on just about EVERYTHING that has to do with KEEPING MJ's LEGACY alive, because that is what this event is going to do if it becomes an annual thing. If I lived in Gary or near there I would DEFFINITLY go. Michael is not here anymore, EVERYTHING that is done in his name WILL in someway generate money...oh well that's just the way it is, so "cashing in" is inevitable. Unless you want him to fade into obscurity, stop complaining so much.

This sounds cool

I am with you. Today, we all live in a business community. So, I will be glad to see and attend these conventions etc as long as they can keep MJ legacy alive.

You know, I don't really care about all the autographs and stuff. To me it's just about honoring Mike, and I know some will say that you can do this in many different ways, but it's important for me in order to process everything that have happened (yes, im still grieving) by talking. This just sounds so much better than that tribute Jermaine was going to organize. I don't care about A list stars singing his songs, I just want to be able to talk to people who love him and share the wonderful stories of memories they have of Michael.
Especially since Katherine is going to be there, I am looking forward to hearing her stories. Besides that, I always wanted to see where Mike was coming from. Where he was raised, that's his home. I want to see this and feel the energy, so I can understand his career better.

Agreed.

Nobody has to go, and if people can and want to then why not? We have supported each other through some awful times in recent years and an opportunity for people to meet up is a good thing. If it makes money for the estate so what?

Supposedly it's going to cost $795 to attend the convention and $225 to attend for just 1 day.

If this is true it's ridiculous, it's going to bomb just like the Vienna tribute. No wonder The Michael Jackson Estate is not involved in this.
