Same here. I am not "in shock" at all, but I guess this might be also for the fact we have been listening to it for quite a long time new?

I like the way the holding hands on the cover spell M.

Very clever.

The song is a million times better than last year's leak, it's never gonna be on my favourite Michael Jackson songs list, but it's heartwarming in many, many ways.

Another question which might help others out. If you have a phone contract including text messages, is any additional cost added on for texting a radio show or is it like any other text
 
I just purchased it on iTunes, my settings are 'netherlands' and i had no trouble, downloading.
 
Well I love the updated version of Hold My Hand. Simply stunning.

Like I said before on the BN thread, HMH was always going to face an up hill battle.
I had said that for a single, then needed a song where MJ is the primary vocalist, and a duet where Michael is singing less is just a bad idea for a lead single to an album - I stand by that view, and judging from some of the reaction it seems a well justified view.
I do think Akon did the best he could do with this song, obviously Michael must not have not recorded vocals to alot of this song. MJ not singing that bridge section "I've been there before..." alongside Akon, there is no excuse for such a poor decision, unless no vocal exists of that, and the same goes for the chorus.

The saviour of this song is Michael's vocal, even if there is not enough of it, he is simply devine I think, and if he can sing as well of that in some of the other songs on the upcoming album, recorded in the last 5 years, then I can't wait to hear it.

I think the biggest problem however, and I think this has been proved somewhat judging by he radio 1 reaction, and the reaction to BN, is the mindset of people today. This has always been a problem for MJ. Michael loves these inspirational songs, most of the general listening public hate these kind of songs. For these people, it as if the song is telling you what to do. Peple think this is corny and hate being told what to do. I can't always help but chuckle when you have such artistic beauty in songs like this, that just get slammed by critics, and yet they heap praise on some of what I honestly feel is for the most part, rubbish pop music today. Why do I think it is rubbish? Same repetitive beat the whole way through, dumb lyrics, lacking emotional connection. These songs don't require anyone to really "listen and think". More like mindless bop-along music. These songs have the music and melody as the main driving force. I always feel good songs are 50/50 lyrics and music. That is the MJ style. If strong lyrical content is the main driving force of the song, people will have no patience to listen to it today. Of course there is some good pop music today, some very good indeed. I just think for the most part, judging by what I hear on the radio, what my friends listen to (no fans of MJ), that this describes most music, and the mindset like I said. One other thing, in terms of the music, alot of songs seem to have a very synthesised bass beat, that plays very quickly throughout the song, I think alot of music today has this beat, to make the song "dancable" in a club. This is a real detractor for me to any song. If the song is not dancable, it is another reason not to care. Sorry if you all feel this opinion is too strong, but this is what I have gathered over the last 10 years.

The final battle, is the fact that it is Michael. We can all sit here and bask in the glory of this fabulous song, and our brilliant Michael, but for everyone else, the DJ's, the general radio listening public, it is just a song by a "weird", dead artist. That already puts the song at a disadvantage before you even hear it, for these people. A big shame really. That tarnished perception is there, everyone wants to find fault. Their loss.

If I could commit a sin by the standards of some people here, and quote BN:

"Everybody watching the news saw Michael Jackson
They want to see that I fall,
cause I’m Michael Jackson".
 
I think they might better released the Lenny Kravitz track :p as first single

By the way I did not listened to one of the leaked versions....

I will try the dutch iTunes as well....

I am holding Michael's hand and not Akon's I don't like his voice.....

Usually it costs extra. At least it does over here.

I am LOVING this version of the song. I love how there are more vocals by Michael. It's really, really great. *happy tears*

yea. and akon is just not qualified enough. he always makes so soft music.. and HMH is like an akon song for me.. but the rest of the album will be cool :)
 
I hope so....... the other tracks will be cool..... They have to release a harder track as second single for sure !!!!!
 
The song is better than the first version but it stays casual.

I think it doesn't deserve to be #1............
...... but maybe the other songs in competition are worst.

Well, I guess there's always SOMETHING to complain about. I say, just be happy that we have a new MJ song out and let's hope the world loves it.

Also, this was intended as an Akon song as far as I know...not an MJ song. So obviously the style is a bit different than Michael's. It's what makes the song fun, in my opinion.

I don't like this version! The leaked version was much more better!!!! They just ruined it completely...
 
i have only some words. I love it. :)
its very different. but i love. it sounds much more finished.
