What about Fitty's rap? Did anybody actually pay any sort of attention to it?

Let's break it down here: So, apparently the song was recorded in 2006/2007. MJ called Fitty and he's working on a song and he would like him to rap in the song. So they did meet up, record everything but the song never got released... ok, nothing unusual here, right? Now, in Fitty's rap he says:

...all hell, run tell, the King has risen (Haa)
2010 Thriller, there’s nothing iller, it’s killer...

My question is: Why 2010? Did he knew the song was gonna be released in 2010? Did he knew that Mike will die in 2010? ... Well, maybe not. Maybe he just did another rap because he thought the original rap wasn't so good. But i just find that very... weird. What do you guys think?

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

^ 50 Cent's rap was recorded in 2010. MJ never had the chance to meet with 50 Cent, they just talked over the phone and through DJ Whoo Kid (50 Cents DJ). The estate asked 50 Cent to rap on this song because Michael expressed interest to work with him but just never got around to it.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

do you agree at least tht it's alsmot the same melodic line ?

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

listen the falsetto at the beginning of "i just can't stop" from TII
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vR199-yf8k

and listen the falsetto on BN at 2mn27
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7p6yXGuR4o

almost the same melodic lines...same voice ?

Of course not, This Is It was in 2009 and Breaking News was recorded in 2006.

Michael Jackson at the 2006 London, World Music Awards. he was singing bits of We Are The World and the falsetto he used is very similar to the ones on the Cascio tracks.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

Have you all heard the 'Say you wanna be a starrrr...' part at 3.50? It's absolutely incredible! I've never, ever heard Michael Jackson sound anything like that. In a basement. On a telephone. In a studio. Out and about. On stage. Off stage. I have NEVER heard Michael Jackson sound anything like that.

Doesn't that concern any of the 'believers'? That they've never heard Michael Jackson sound anything like that?

"He was trying something new",

lol

"He was trying to sound different. And succeeded to such a degree that he sounded like a weak, limp impersonator."

please remember not to attack or make fun of people due to their opinions. make your point and move on. "respect" and "civil debate" shouldn't be this hard of a concept to grasp.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

I personally don't see anything wrong with that part. If anything, "Say you wanna be a star", is one of the things that do sound like Michael in the song.

We were listening to the album. That's how obvious the change was from one song to this song. Plus he has heard enough of MJ's voice in the past years from me playing his older music around the house.

Just to throw this out there, the same would be said if you played 2000 watts for him.

At no stage did I make fun of anyone with those posts.

Which Michael Jackson song does it sound like?

ivy, you may wanna go back a few pages and check out some of the other posters and the stuff they've been saying...sam hasn't said anything remotely close to that....I think that's only fair....

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

Why on earth Lady Gaga and Kanye West have also the song called 'Monster'? And isn't it kinda same theme too? ?

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

When talking about financical motivations and incentives people shouldn't deny that Sony would probably be bankrupt by now, if they had hired an impersonator.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to go after Sony, so I'm not sure the degree of financial risk they took (assuming the vocals are fake).

For Sony to be taking a huge risk, then

1) It has to be provable that an imposter was used. Is there a way to prove, 100% beyond a doubt that the vocals are not Michael Jackson? I'm not an expert, so I honestly don't know the answer to this question. Even experts often disagree. It happens in court cases all the time where opposing sides bring experts to the stand who give contradicting opinions. Even Quincy Jones I believe said he couldn't tell.

2) It has to be provable that Sony hired the imposter. The Cascios could have hired the imposter and Sony bought the songs with the belief it was MJ. Whoever at Sony was responsible for compiling the album likely gains a percentage of the profit so would have a huge financial motive to include songs that they felt would sell in Today's market. B/c of greed, I can easily see someone casting aside doubt and going with the assumption it's MJ. Just look at the recent financial crisis. People take huge (and stupid) risks all the time when they see big $ signs. Greed makes smart people do stupid things.

3) Assuming 1) and 2) are provable, someone would have to actually sue them and fight them. Each individual consumer only spent a total of $3 on the 3 songs in question. No individual is going to sue over $3 and no lawyer is going to file an expensive lawsuit against a major corporation so they can pocket 30% of $3 if they win. It would have to be a class action lawsuit, which would require a huge amount of organization and many individuals involved to make it profitable for any lawyer to pursue. And the lawyer would also have to think the case was winnable which I'm not sure how easy it would be to prove and win.

So, IMO, it's definitely a possibility that the vocals are fake. I'm not sure we'll ever know for sure. All I know for sure is that the vocals sound different. It would be nice to know why they sound different.

You are 100% correct here Sam. This line is the most cringe-worthy part on the whole of the 3 songs in question. It sounds like Peter Andre.

I still think the first verse may be MJ but as soon as the first 'Too bad...' kicks in, I don't think we here from him again.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

A bit off topic, but do you also guys hear that quiet little 'Why You Wanna Trip On Me' sample around 2:32? :p

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

What i find mind boggling is how so many people want this song to be a single. This and the other 2 Cascio tracks have caused enough problems allready.

I've been trying to figure what that sample was - which part of TRIP is it from?

Because put the controversial factor aside, it's the best song on the album.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

But I think what many are trying to say is that Monster is the most single friendly song on the album. The mainstream public would gravitate to this song over the others due to the fast beat, thumping bass, and the rap verse. It's a catchy tune, regardless of peoples opinions on it.

I completely agree. It's not a bad song and in any other circumstances I would strongly advocate it as a single. However, I simply cannot when I believe someone else is singing it in its entirety. My resolve is strengthened even further when the voice I hear is SO far removed from MJ's voice as I know it, and compounded by the fact it sounds exactly like a certain sound-a-like - and by 'exactly', I don't mean 'similar', I mean a carbon copy.

Re: Monster - The Great Debate

If you think Best of Joy is not MJ you are in a very, very small minority. The vast majority of people agree it is him.
