Janet Jackson on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" Feb.15th

Let's be for real. LOL!

From now until the end of time, no matter what Janet is promoting, Janet Jackson will be answering questions regarding her brother.

And when Michael's children get older and start moving more independently, the questions will be about the children's progress.

Hopefully she will be prepared to that, because even though the children might not be "celebrities" in the normal sense, folks will still be fascinated by them. Wanting to know, what they're doing, who their hanging with, and how have they matured long after their father's death.

Those 3 children WILL be the face of the Jackson family in a minute.

Why does a person who is a drug addict or has any sort of problems with drugs have to be crazy? some of you judge people too much. Of course the interviews are different depending on who interviews you and what you have the interview for. The other interviews had segments sepecifically for discussing how janet felt about her brother's death, we have heard what she has to say and there is no use bringing up the touchy subject in every interview. Now janet has a book which has nothing to do with how Michael passed so why would she need to talk about the probalem's she felt her brother had, this book is about Janet's problems and how she has delt with them.

i really try to understand why but this is how the show business goes !?

books are not like albums and music ,,,with books u need to look like an insightful person with human tragedy and a great message ,,,but with albums & movies you need to look like a strong indepedant fearless person ,,,,it is PR people who advice the celebrties how to discuss their lives in the public eyes.

this is why Janet in this inteview connects herself to the good Michael not the bad one !

I think as the children get older they will speak out more so they won't need people to speak out on their behalf, especially since they want to get into show business. I think people will also start asking them more about their father because people are always interetsed in Michael, he created an inigma about himself. People mostly ask about them now because they can't speak on their own behalf yet and it hasn't been too long since they lsot their father and they were very sheltered before, no one but diehard fans could point them in a crowd if they weren't with Michael. I think their situation will be similar to Lisa Mare's, there will be interest(mostly for the wrong reasons like tabloid stories) in them but they have to make a name of their own for people to remain interested for years to come and hopefully when they branch out as adults they can become a respected director/sctress/dancer or whatever they want to persue in their own rights.

did her book come out already? how are the sales?
The sales are great, she is number 1 and 2 respectively on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/4746/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_1_4_last

.... Onto Piers Morgan a bit.. Maybe I'm weird, but I sort of like him. I mean, not when he was on Britain's Got Talent (? I think..) and The Apprentice, and can't brush it off that he was editor of News Of The World and daily Mirror, two of the trashiest tabloids out there... But. He seemed to have been consistent as far as his impressions of Michael have gone. Both shortly after interviewing him in '99, and now. I cropped this from the http://archives.cnn.com interview with Janet, and I'm impressed:

“When your brother, (Jermaine) did the Charlie Chaplin 'Smile' routine at the memorial for Michael […] It seemed completely appropriate to anyone that knew him, because what I remember about Michael is this amazing smile he had, apart from the genius talent. You know, I still say to people I saw him in Paris in the early '90s. I have never seen a concert like it in my life. […] I mean (he was an) incredible performer. But he had this amazing smile. […] I interviewed Michael. […] And I found it fascinating to actually talk one on one with him because, A, he seemed completely normal to me. And we had a great discussion about all sorts of things. Great sense of humor. But what was really interesting -- and I wanted to read you some of this -- was what he said about Princess Diana who had just died. He said to me, "I told her that no normal person could possibly understand the life that she led. I've had that attention since I was a kid. Diana had it only from only the age of 19. I had it all my life, so I knew how to handle it. I just said to her, rise above it all. I would tell her how I would go on stage sometimes and the worst pain, either emotionally or physically, was something like a toothache. And I would put whatever it was out of my mind and perform. And I said to her be strong, be determined. No one can hurt you. You can only hurt yourself. So, be defiant. I think she appreciated and got something from my words. I think I was able to comfort her." […]”

.. I'm sorry, but when I see people like that, however dogs they may be in their public life, however unscrupulous and ruthless, maybe that's their survival technique in the crazy jungle, I'm not here to judge them. But as a journalist, to be able to remark the things he did about Michael, for instance, such as about his smile... I mean, what other (esp) male journalist does that? It's obvious Piers likes Michael, that when he mentioned about Joe's physical abuse on them, and when he repeatedly (although not rudely) called his family a disfunctional one, he was.. a bit involved? Like he knew that to be the truth. And to crop his memorable words on Princess Diana for the interview, I thought that was a touching thing to do. Like he did his homework or something.. He was respectful throughout all the interview, haven't watched his others', but my opinion of him changed almost dramatically now. He's still the same Morgan, blunt and all, and funny, all in all and more mellow. It takes so little, oftentimes, for some to be impressed by what they see, esp when they seem honest. .. Don't know, but him mentioning Michael's "amazing smile"... made me warmhearted, really wasn't expecting that, and I'm appreciating him if only for this simple thing he said. It's true.. Michael really did soften many tough guys in his lifetime and continues to, however temporarily..

Like I said in my post from yesterday, this interview was the first time I actually liked Piers' interviewing style since he took over for Larry. Prior to the premier of his show he discussed how he works and he says he does extensive research on his guests. Before this I had only known Piers from Celebrity Apprentice. I thought his quoting from his interview with MJ was a good moment and it made Janet open up a bit. The only thing that bugs me just a little about Piers is he has a way of interrupting or cutting off the interviewee before they complete a sentence...but Larry did that too, lol.

Sorry, but when you are promoting and/or selling a product, you CARE about everybody and everything, in my opinion.

Once your product has come and gone, then you can go back to your old ways, but while that item is available, you basically become a BUTT KISSER, in my opinion, i.e. "please purchase my product, I love you."

Folks trying to get paid. LOL!

The poster was saying that she needs MJ fans for her stuff. Most products have a target market and if you reach more than that good... But she isn't kissing anyones but and I doubt her target is MJ fans. She also can't please everybody

Piers impressed me a lot.. He's seems nicer about MJ than Mike's own family

No one is saying she outright needs the MJ fans like her family does, but it's just a little odd she would be so dismissive of us. If this was 1994 when everyone was on the lookout for her, I could understand her being so "oh well" about us, but now?

the irony of this whole thing. the world is fascinated with this family's massive success, and yet there are so many questions and scrutiny of how the family was raised.

Whether some are saying she exclusively needs MJ fans (which some were saying) or whatever... She doesn't need MJ fans or the brothers. There are many people out there who still love the jacksons/ jackson 5. (but i will say they depend on the fan base more)She has enough of her own fans and the casual buyers. With good promotion of her book it can and will go far. She isn't dismissing anyone. Most of you guys on here are dismissing yourselves from whatever project she puts out.

N just to let you know, your last sentence is contradicting the first part of the first sentence:
"No one is saying she outright needs the MJ fans..."
"If this was 1994 when everyone was on the lookout for her, I could understand her being so "oh well" about us, but now?"

I understand your use of outright, but you are still basically saying:
Janet isn't as hot as she used to be, so she needs MJ fans support for her project. N no matter which way you state it, it isn't true. I'm sure she would be very happy for the support.

The J5 made the Jacksons famous it open the door for Janet acting and singing career & MJ solo career made the Jackson name even bigger! Without that there would be no Janet!

So through the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson solo work it helped Janet became famous and let her do her own thing! She even admitted that! So many fans of Janet and the attention she's gotten comes from way back from the J5 and MJ! Let's not pretend here! Even the media treat it that way!

Everyone knows that their names will be linked as a Family most of the time! Especially, anyone after MJ who had gotten most of the attention solo after Thriller! That's why you got so many who love MJ and Janet both or the whole family!

So any negative can affect her projects when u look at it in that way as whole and it has! She may got her own hardcore fans but, She nor anyone can't dismiss the Jacksons Family fans nor MJ solo fans impact on Janet's career too!

You are a very confused person,so know you admit Michael may have had a problem when before janet was a liar. She mentioned trying to do some interventions in previous interviews and you get mad that she's "throwing him under the bus" now she she says she had his back and you wanted her to do more. We don't know the conversations she had with her brother and all she tried to do. For the most part she did have his back, in 1993 she publicly supported him saying Michael wouldn't harm a child and in she atteneded court dates for his 2005 trial, in interviews she has explained he has a skin condition, she always admired his artistry, she showed her affection on the big staging by honoring him with the lifetime grammy award and the list could go on. Before you judge Janet's devotion how about you question yours, did you attened any court dates for Michael? What have you done to put yourself in a position to judge his sister, really.

I applaud your response. It's pretty sad there is this "hate" against Janet. I can't force anyone to change their opinion about her no more can they change mine. Janet never was the enemy.

No one said that Janet didn't get support from people who are fans of her brothers or the family in general. N yes many people are fans of both MJ and Janet, and theres the same amount that only like Janet. Just like some like the jackons or Jackson 5 better than solo MJ. People ultimately support Janet because they like her, not because of her last name. Yes, that helped her get started but it isn't what's keeping her here.

^But, when some fans feel she is dissing the last name that helped made her by saying something negative about her brother that isn't even proven in something as important as his autopsy report it will and HAS created a problem even if they supported her ultimately on her own!

Which was my point that u obviously missed! smh lol

They already are. And you know some stans on this forum HATE,
H A T E this FACT. But like all the other things they can't change shyte about it! Janet is just like the father she despices/d so much.

Janet is exactly like Rabbie Shamuly ...when they want to promote a new book.... Michael is a kind angel BUT if the interviwe is not a bout promoting a book then Michael is a crazy drug addict !

business....it is all about business Janet !

if the nteview is with Oprah then MJ is bad if with the CNN then MJ good !
MOM Kathey did the same , the interview with Oprah MJ addict ,if the Interview with Geraldo then MJ was fine....Business !
U know she is just like him and her father.
Some people here think being soft spoken makes you be 'just like Michael' especially when ur related to him. But NO,. That is clearly not the case here.
Michael was an ANGEL compared to these people!.

how are the sales?

The book is presently at no. 22 on Amazon's Top 100 Bestseller list.

I'm sure in the weeks to come, the book will fluctuate up and down as the weeks go on, but she will have to continue promoting the book or in my opinion, it will sink.

Amazon's Top 100 Bestseller list is a decent gage, but what most "authors" strive for is a prime position on the "New York Times Best Seller List." That, in my opinion, is the premire list, when it comes to new books. That's the list that affords you life long bragging rights. LOL!

I'm guessing this Sunday's edition will show the most current list of TOP seller's.

I'm not sure if the NYT has a "hour-by-hour" list like Amazon. I've only encountered their final list on Sunday's.

Who're those stans you so poisonously refer to? I mean, really, you can't just hit and run like cowards do, give some names. It's very very obvious what you're doing, you're accusing some people insidiously, making some wonder if you're speaking about them, even though they don't even deserve being called stans in the 1at place, 2), you you claim to also be knowing what goes on in their minds. ..........

Those 'they' you're being this blunt and insolent about, you say they're hating on the children - wow.. , yeah, you're actually saying that - but what are you doing instead? You're not only hating on the Jackson family, but some fans on here that you call stans or whatever, and one has to wonder, since it's so easy to be hateful, and since some really like to come out a psychics in a way, one has to wonder what would happen if the children one day make some mistakes or don't know what else, how would some react to that?

...

Don't mean to say she does in fact need the MJ fans. I know she has her own set of fans, I of all people understand this. As critical as I might be of her, I do at times defend her career to those that unfairly go after it. I'm just saying, if she had played her cards right, it wouldn't take alot to get those MJ fans that weren't into her, to jump on her bandwagon. I'm only saying this because i'm not seeing much evidence these days of the casual viewer going out and supporting Janet.

And to just give you an example, I personally loved Why Did I get Married and couldn't wait for the sequel, but because of the Oprah interview and fucking Tyler Perry putting in his 2 cents, it killed me wanting to see it in theaters.

You speak the HONEST truth, in my opinion.

Things have definitely changed, ain't nothing wrong with saying that, because it's the truth.

^for me what kills me is that she said in every interview that MJ did not allow them in his house and life to hide his addiction, this is why she could not discuss his health and was not able to talk to him,,,but the fact is that she was in his house in LV to shout at him to join her tour and no one cared about how is he doing or how his kids are doing!!!

no real sister would do this to a brother went through hell and back by allegations that he is wako and irresponsible father.....yes , she supported him against the allegations and we and MJ are very very thankful and i really do wish her a very very happy life but that's it,,,she did not have his back after his death.

thank God that Paris has got her father's and her mother's genes and was there to defend her daddy during the memorial and Oprah !

the little girl alone (and without any experience in life or media) did better than the whole Jackson fake clan !

so true ,those clueless Jackson just run their mouth in media ,right now they are using every opportunity to make money because once the children become legally capable of handling stuff no one is going to ask them and money will soon disappear.

Despite I didn't see the whole intervew, I understand why some of you guys don't like Janet and I include myself in that list.
How come she was so sweet and sasid nice things about Michael on Piers Morgan while on Oprah did the opposite? To me that's hypocrecy and fakness, that's why I don't like her.
I'm tired Michael's relatives are trying to portray an opposite image what Michael really is. We don't know the whole truth but we're not stupid.

I agree with you... never had a problem with Janet a far as Michael went..until she started this addiction...denial stuff...how can she contradict what the autopsy says?...It certainly seems to me that Janet could absolutely careless what Mj fans think of her...and that is her prerogative....however...she SHOULD care what the world thinks of her brother....he has always been judged for the wrong reasons...she is not stupid she knows that. So WHY she would want him to be judged unfairly NOW in death...is beyond me... That makes her no better than the countless people that said all the other negative things about him in the past.
