From around 2000 on he wore straight hair to my knowledge and continued to do that til June 2009.
I wonder: Did he like that better? TBVH I much more like his "cool" curl hair style (and I'm male and not even in love with him lol). I was pleasantly surprised when he was standing 2 yards in front of me on that red bus in London on June 15th 2002 with his curls again and at one point even almost dancing to the fan's screaming - he was going like that (except for the fingers): :punk:.

I'm not saying he was ugly or anything with the straight hair... I just wonder what his motivation was for wearing it... and for changing it at the London event 2002 (and for This is it!) again. Anybody know?

It's one of those things I never understood. I have always prefered the curly hair and I think the majority of his fans did too. It's OK that he tried straight hair once in a while, but I don't know why he stuck to it for most of the 2000s. I'm glad he accepted fans' advice for TII and got back to curls.

Maybe he couldn't be bothered to make sure that his hair was nice and curly everyday.

I do agree though that he looked much much better with the curls. It made him look younger

I like all his hairstyles, but I guess by the 2000's he was a full-time dad, so he didn't have as much time to devote to his appearance as before?

Maybe he wanted to look more mature :)

I like both hairstyles though. And I also know that, for TII, he took the girl fans' (especially) advice to wear his hair curly again.

OMG. That shirt. LOL! ?????

Hm, him being a full-time dad could indeed be an explanation (never thought about that!).

Interesting, is there a source to this? I know Michael's befriended fans gave him the "Curls for my girls" shirt as a present, but then he already had 'em. Were those befriended girls those who gave him the advice?
I wonder if he would have brought back the curls himself anyway . I mean, why did he have em in London in 2002? Maybe he was very aware of the fact his fans liked the curls.

Agreed. Somtimes, we tend to forget his hair wouldn't appear nice and curly magically. It needs maintenance.

By the 2000's, Michael was a single-dad raising three children. He's not on stage. He concentrated on his kids rather than getting his hair right. Just my guess.

I don't think he liked straight hair better. I think it has more to do with what made his life easier.

Well, he also wore his hair straight for a time in 1995 and a bit of 1996..I think Michael maybe just wanted a change, and he must have liked it, because he wore for almost all of the 2000's..I think he looked great with straight hair! :punk:

you mean between 95 and 96 when he had shorter hair? Or did he also have it long hair back then one time?

Well, he had it pretty long at some point around then, like at the 1996 World Music Awards.. ..Also I guess in the Stranger In Moscow video too it was really long, but it had a bit of a curl in it.

I have heard he sometimes attended fan message boards. And I have heard he pretty much liked the "curls" topic here. I don't know if anybody is able to confirm that. I think he was aware that his fans loved his curls.

Not really necessary.

Michael had a large number of weaves which he could pick and choose between (the BOTDF front cover looking similar to the American Bandstand 2002 performance and the one he wore sometimes during This Is It). I guess he just preferred the straight hair with age. Of course, he could change his weave every day if he wanted to lol.

I think discussing his hair in that much detail, mentionings weaves and motives and the like is a bit inappropriate.. Don't know.. maybe the whole horrific autopsy thing made some more sensitive to stuff like that...

I don't know which I prefer lol :p I love his hair in the RTT video though :)

I loved it in the RTT video too... Was shorter and straight with a little curl haha! Wasn't too keen on it too long and straight.

For all I know, he can wear a plastic bag on his head and I'd still be thinking "beautiful."

I always loved his straight hairstyles. Japan 2006? Beautiful.

Or this TII pic of the auditions- Mr.Ortega, we'd like the rest of the footage of that day!!!

I seriously love about every hairstyle on him, curl or no curl.

It's been known it wasn't his real hair for years hasn't it? :mello:

I believe everything post Thriller was, but maybe he started using weaves during the Dangerous era..

Interesting, where have you heard that? Honestly it's a bit hard for me to imagine Michael checked the boards when Travis Payne had to show him HIStory clips online (youtube?) and he was very surprised all those clips were there...

I can tell you guys it's true, he was a member in this forum (for respect to him Gaz and the staff chose to not reveal his user name.) Which I totally agree with!
I remeber so many things he did like one of the fans askid him to wear jeans and next day he wore them. Several fans joined us with the request we would love to see his eyes and he did that nex day. I commented how happy I was to see him looking so handsome, healthy and happy but wearing black masks (2009 when he was wearing a lot of white and blue ones) would match with his clothing and next day he wore a black one. So I can tell it's true because we were insisting so much to him to bring his curls back several months in that year and he did it. :wild:

I love his curls better but like I said before in my thread, he looks so gorgeous u¿in every era no matter what! :girl_in_love:

Wow! That's awesome! I didn't realise that Snow White!
As to the hairstyle - I think Michael simply grew older and changed his hairstyle according to his age. Curls are rather frivollous and he wanted to look noble and mature. That's why he wore such a hairstyle.
However, after years of seeing him with straight hair I was pretty shocked how good he looked in curly hairstyle in This Is It. Still had that magic...

He surprised his befriended fans with his curls and they took pictures together and later the pics were all over the forums and everybody knew the curls were back. The girl who gave MJ that shirt (she is in this forum) wanted him to know how happy people were about his curls being back, so yes, the shirt was a gift because of the curls. And it was given by the 23, if I recall it correctly. Then he wore it the next day.

and well... we know the rest of the story.

:(

I rather his curls. A million times!!

Mike a memeber here? Imagine if one of us got into a heated debate with him over something.
