“Hollywood Tonight” VIDEO premieres NOW

I'll give it 6 out 10. It's good but the stripper/alcohol bit was disappointing.

Look at the bright side. They could have gone with the current music trend and made MJ's voice sound like a robot. The thought just makes me shudder

Yes and this is what makes it unique, this is one of the few mainstream songs that does not have the robot effect.

Good to know you enjoy listening to Michael voice :)

Yeah I hate Michael's voice, that's why I joined a fan forum ;)

It's a DEMO! I don't blame him. His vocals needed slight autotune, like in the album version. They made it sound natural but it was still up to MJ's usual standard.

These are good points. :) I like the rawness of his unprocessed voice. Auto-tune shouldn't come in contact with that stellar voice AT ALL.

No, they didn't need autotune. And if Sony/Teddy thought "hey, he needs autotune since he doesn't sound right", they should nevah evah have released it. It's that simple.

I love the kind of "rawness" in his voice right here. It reminds me of DYKWYCA somehow. So untouched!

I take back anytyhing I might have said before.

I really like this version. It's kinda stripped back and sounds good. BUT I do agree with others that the album version has more 'power' to it. It's more engrossing. Perhaps they should have released a CD single with the album version being the one promoted in the video (as it currently is on radio) and with this video version as an alternate mix.

MJ was all about commercial success and so anything the estate can do to create successful MJ projects is surely striving to do what he himself would want. I don't think the way the Esate are handling the Michael album and the singles is going to do that though.
Yet again they should have arranged a proper premiere of the single and video AT THE SAME TIME. I'm still waiting for an estate-produced TV special. That should have accompanied the album launch and I'm really surprised there hasn't been one yet.

Whats MJ's usual standard? These vocals are how HE left them and he left them at a standard he thought was good enough. Teddy completely over cocked the processing on the vocals he even made a distinct Mistake on Hollywood tonight on the start of the "third" verse.

How many demo's of MJ's do we have? How many were later edited by Michael.........how many has MJ messed about with? Take What About Us for instance, when MJ edited the song and put it on HIStory he left most his vocals untouched, no extra effects.

You can't really use the line "MJ's usual standard" unless you have some understanding of MJ's standard

Aside from that mistake, the album version makes me want to get up and dance. This version makes me want to lie down, a dance track shouldn't do that.

Do you mean where the first line is a lot lower quality than the rest of the song? :p Yes, that always annoys me lol.

Yup you notice how it has an effect on the start of the line? I think Teddy left the effect from the spoken bridge on an effects track and it somehow bled onto MJ's track. You can actually hear the effect dissapear when MJ's singing "Jeans"

I thought it was great. Thought it told the story of the song well. Hope it has more airplay than HMH did, only saw that a couple of times on TV.

To be honest i absolutely f**kin love the Estate for this!

Think about it, this sounds like Michaels demo which we asked for, they have gone against the current overproduced "trend" and given us something special and raw, something straight from Michael, unpolished but from Michael!

see I agree. why get angry about this? During the discussions the main point that the fans had was about the "processing" and "additions" and people demanded raw untouched demos.

and now we complain that it's raw and demo and not perfect. :)

I think all of us as fans need to make up our mind.

I'll say this again what do you think "She's giving hot tricks to men just to get in " means and how would you portray that in a video?

pffff ... :scratch::doh::no:
I HATE it ... Its so 'Generation O' like just a vid in a dozen... Nothing special... :mello: The usual crap they 'push' on peeps... Well, if this is the NEW generation??? Good luck, folks... I belong to the :tease:generation then...
It simply made me  Then It made me :mat: It makes me :puke: too...

After watching it again a few more times, I really like it. The first time I really didn't think much of it, except for Sophia's dancing, but it's definitely a grower.

And I think this new "mix" with the BJ line is interesting. I don't know why folks are complaining about it so much, it's not in-your-face, the song is still Hollywood Tonight -- you bet most people, especially non-fans, won't even notice it.

i dont even like the song period! and i dont have the album and i have no intention of ever buying it...michael is gone and he had nothing to do with this album and the music videos so to me this isnt michael jackson album....

they need to just stop it! mike is gone and lets just enjoy the magic he created while in life

I liked it. At first, the strip joint and alcohol bit kind of pissed me off because it was just a bit much for a Michael Jackson video, but then I changed my mind because that's often what those who "go Hollywood", especially females, have to do in order to make money to get studio/audition time, etc. in hopes of making it big. It was a relatively accurate portrayal of the process, but I only wish they hadn't glamourized it that much--Michael's point was that it was a bad thing, after all. The video makes it look like she's having fun.

im not sure about it just yet. i havent listened to my michael album in awhile. the video is ok but the girl is a amazing dancer. i dont like that they did the stripper/alcohol bc michael never did that in any of his videos but if that the lyric in the song then i see why they would use that in the video but i dont think michael would have used it in the video if he was still with us and released the song himself. maybe the video will grow on me idk but im still mixed about music and other things being released without him here. thats just me. i love getting new music and things like that but w/o michael here to see his fans enjoy it all makes me sad.

Finally one comment that makes sense.
I couldn't say it better myself.
