Madonna Appreciation thread - For fans

The Borderline video is great. She's so gorgeous in that one.

Hey cool, I've finally found an interesting thread among all this Gaga - Beyonce stuff (I've never noticed the thread before ) !

I really have to say that Madonna is my second favourite artist of all time (after Michael, of course). I really love it how she has always reinvented herself - even after more than 25 years of career, she still doesn't get boring!
My favourite song is Miles Away, it's a beautiful song! Other favourite songs are Human Nature, Secret & Vogue.

And I've been listening to Hard Candy a lot recently. At first it took me a while to get into this album, but now I really appreciate it. But I more prefer her albums form the 80's and 90's.

Well, Madonna is truly one of the biggest icons of our music and I really love her :) (and release a new album, damn!)

Yes!!! Madonna is still the best and the queen of pop. :wild:

This happened to me when Madonna released the album Ray of Light. :fear: It took a while for my ears get used to the new sound of Madonna. Today is one of my favorite albums. I love all the songs from that album.

MADONNA’s Directorial Feature Debut

Last night, I had the pleasure to attend a screening of W.E. Madonna’s directorial feature debut. The film tells two parallel love stories seperated by almost 6 decades. Most notably the story of American born Wallis Simpson who would later become the Duchess of Windsor after her lover King Edward VIII would step down from his short lived run as Kind of England in order to marry and live out the romance of a century with the woman he loved. Wallis Simpson has been portrayed as one of the most vilified characters in England’s history. However, W.E. tells the story from Wallis’s point of view for the first time.

Madonna, who does not appear in the film, exceeded my expectations with this romantic, tender and intimate story. The cinematography was breathtaking at moments and the casting was fantastic. Still, I had little need for the parallel modern day story of the main character, Wally Winthrop, who finds herself suddenly connected to Wallis and her love story. I felt Madonna’s portrayal of the Duchess was so artfully done that the added modern story line only complicated and mutled a thrilling tale told for the first time.

The music was beautiful although there were blatant references to the Wong Kar Wai formula so beautifully executed in In the Mood for Love.

All said and done, I sat entirely engaged for the entire 2 hour film … so there you have it.

And I think in early 2012 we will have a new album! :wild: Waiting anxiously... :timer:

I'd like Madonna if I wasn't so turned off by her crazy fan base. The majority of them on the internet are all about - according to them - that EVERY artist since the 80's has copied Madonna in some way. They're literally the meanest bunch of people I've ever come across, and I can't respect that.

My favourite song is Miles Away.

Glad someone here enjoys Hard Candy! A lot, and I mean a lot of Madonna fans don't like it. I love it. To me its a throw back to her first album!

Anyway, can't wait for W.E!! I love her!!!

I have her Playboy issue. Its okay... Does anyone have her SEX book??

I've always loved that Madonna changed her look for every album. Do you prefer her hair short or long? Blonde or Brunette? What is your favorite Madonna video? I prefer all of Madonna's hairstyles long and short, but I always wonder if she'll chop off her hair again. I really like Madonna as a brunette though the blonde is her signature look. My favorite Madonna video has to be the Express Yourself video. Vogue is a close second.

That's exactly how I feel. It's really weird to me how so many didn't dig that album or get the concept behind it. It was a total throwback and Madonna's purest pop album since the 80's. Many Madonna fans didn't like it because Madonna spent most of the 90's and 2000's doing more artsy fartsy albums. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just saying that Madonna attracted a lot of high brow fans with her increased artistic integrity over the years.

Did Madonna really get her beauty mark removed?? I totally forgot she even had one!!!

Look at these pics of Madonna & Tupac

No, Madonna didn't get her mole removed. She covers it up with makeup. In many close up shots you often can see it. Just gotta look for it.

P.S. Madonna has a rare track with 2Pac. It's the Bedtime Stories track, "I'd Rather Be Your Lover". He guested on it but for whatever reason the quest version never saw the light of day.

Radio programmers talk about Madonna and Jim Steinman collaboration

June 20, 2011 1:10 pm CT

Peter Buchanan
Chicago Pop Music Examiner

At the gathering of program director’s meeting in Chicago this weekend, the hot topic was Madonna. My June 9th column was the very first to reveal that The Weinstein Company picked up distribution rights to Madonna’s eagerly anticipated film W.E. I have a lot more information on that, but will keep quiet for now. After all, Madonna is primarily a recording artist, right?

The big talk at the meeting was Madonna’s upcoming album and the possibility of Jim Steinman (hello, Bonnie Tyler, Meat Loaf, and Celine Dion) as a collaborator. Apparently, Madonna wrote some songs with melody ideas and sent them to Mr. Steinman, who was very impressed. Madonna, despite what some say, does write her own lyrics and melodies, but relies on producers to come up with the music.

Some of the program directors thought the idea was interesting, while others thought that Jim Steinman would be cheapening himself. Even if Mr. Steinman doesn’t come through, one of the definite collaborators for Madonna’s next album is going to be Joe Henry, who co-wrote two of Madonna’s most loved songs: “Don’t Tell Me” and “Jump.”

Are you looking forward to Madonna’s new album? What collaborators do you want her to work with?

I love the Hard Candy. I loved all of Madonna's albums since Ray of Light onward, but it was really nice that she changed up the sound for Hard Candy. I love Give It 2 Me, Incredible, Miles Away, Candy Shop, etc. There are so many great songs on that album. I've heard "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" with 2Pac. Too bad that version wasn't included on the final cut of Bedtime Stories.

Awwww.... those pics of Madonna and her boy David are so adorable. He's such a cute kid and Madonna looks really beautiful and happy, and all the while without any makeup on. Not many 52 year olds can pull that off... heck, not many 25 year olds can pull that off!

Official Press Release:

MADONNA COMIC BOOK IS SET TO HIT SHELVES THIS AUGUST

Bluewater is pleased to announce a special comic book project featuring one of the most accomplished and well-known figures in the history of American pop culture, Madonna.

“Female Force: Madonna” will be released in August 2011 and have a cover price of $3.99. The bio on the pop icon's life will be written by CW Cooke and drawn by Michael Johnson.

Madonna is arguably the most influential figure in the history of American music. This comic book will focus on her humble beginnings and the incredible events that led to her eventually becoming one of the few people in the world recognized by only their first name! Though she has paved the way for many female pop stars that came after her, from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga to Beyonce she is unique in that while many are compared to her, she is never compared to anyone else. There is still only one Madonna and even today, in her fifties, she remains culturally relevant. This comic book shows the influences on her music and style that in turn have influenced every pop star who aspires to not only make songs that people will always remember, but have an impact on society.

The “Female Force” comic series offers a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture. In past issues, the monthly series has featured, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, JK Rowling, Ellen Degeneres, Sarah Palin and others.

Bluewater's Vice President Jason Schultz said, “Our goal is to show the little-known events and influences that resulted in Madonna becoming the phenomenon she remains to this day, more than a quarter-century after she burst upon the scene. A visual medium provides perspective that is not only accessible but more relatable to the average person without losing any of the information involved”.

This 32-page comic book will be chronicling this saga, “Female Force: Madonna ” will explore all sides of this inimitable talent, from her live performances, ever-changing musical tastes, to her being a leader in fashion and her charity work, Madonna has made positive contributions to her fans' lives and society at large and how, despite numerous controversies she remains beloved by more fans than ever. Through it all, she always remained true to herself and appeared to be genuine. What you see is what you get with her. That - and her remarkable talent is what has made her an enduring legend. Madonna is quite simply one of the most powerful women in the history of entertainment.

"Most pop stars owe everything to this woman. It's amazing all of the things that she's done in her lifetime, and I have a feeling that this is still only the beginning", says Cooke, who said he had fun scripting the Material Girl's life story.
