Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary- DVD / Blu Ray [available on iTunes Nov 19]

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

I just read Roger Friedman's comments on the BAD 25 documentary, got infuriated, and came over here to see if anyone else saw it. He is supposed to be such a good friend of Frank's-I'm sure Frank would be rolling over in his grave at those vile comments. He's an idiot after all.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

He is a douchebag. Nothing else.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Friedman is a dick, but one thing I agree with is why did ABC edit so much out from the doc? I tend to find television in America extremely irritating, there are commercial breaks far too often.

We are lucky in the UK that this is being shown on the BBC in its entirety. The BBC doesn't show commercials as it is funded by the taxpayer, but even if it was shown on another channel it wouldn't have anywhere near as many commercial breaks as in the US.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

this time in six days I will have seen 1 hour & 15 minutes of the Docu :woohoo: SO EXCITED!!

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Friedman has his sources and sometimes can bring new & first information to the table. However in this instance he's merely writing his opinion like a regular person. I wouldn't pay him any special attention in this instance.

It was very frustrating to watch as there were commercials so frequently....

Consider yourself lucky you get to see so much of it without so many commercials :)

(this is why I never watch tv lol)

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Friedman has an axe to grind.

Friedman has an axe to grind.

You are right. he's angry that he wasn't sent a DVD and he's advocating for his friend Dileo.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Roger needs to sit his behind down. This was about MJ and HIS music! Roger seems to only value his own opinions and those HE was friends with and that's about all. It's like everyone around MJ but, MJ himself matters to him. So gettin tired of that.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

I finally managed to download the doc and OMG, I was blown-away. Can't wait to see and own the full-length one.

Can you believe what Friedman is saying about Taraborrelli and Vogel? I can't believe he hasn't read Vogel's book. And it's not true that it sold as bad as Sullivan's.

Also his remark about surgeries... There's nothing even suggesting this in the full version of the film.

The stuff about MJ's face I think is about his discoid lupus. If you notice in early photos/shots of the Bad stuff his face is visibly sore with the malar rash.

The fact that Spike Lee used Joe Vogel and not useless Taraborrelli reflects that Spike really put some thought into this project. He wanted to use people who cared about MJ as an artist, not useless tired gossips.

^^ True, several people rarely use tv due to this me included.

About Roger, when you guys place the link for people to clink on isnt that giving Roger hits which is what he really wants? Certainly he is concerned more about the numbers visiting than whether we love his comment or not?

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

the numbers were not only good they were excellent, journalist are just making it look bad, like when Michael was alive... its the same, i want pay attention to them

excellent numbers, excellent

lol what is this comment.

Lady Gaga's awesome. She's currently on a world tour playing stadiums and arenas.
Born This Way album is soo good.

yeah she is! after 4 years, she's already doing some of the same venues michael did, like:
-olympic stadium- seoul, south korea
-parken stadium- copenhagen, denmark
-estádio do morumbi- sao paulo, brazil
-river plate stadium- buenos aires, argentina
-estadio nacional- santiago, chile

and countries that only michael and very few others have done, like
-taiwan
-thailand
-singapore
-philippines
-romania
-estonia
-south africa
-russia
-india (rumoured)

if that's not global, i don't know what is.

bad25 just reinforces how global michael is.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

in the UK we are blessed to be seeing the Bad 25 documentary in full, I'm not sure why America didn't get it in full but I'm sure someone here will record it! especially can't wait for Just good friends, looks MAGICAL on the trailer! I'll be writing a full review next Sunday! L.O.V.E to you all

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Sounds like the real issue is that he's mad that nobody cares about HIS opinion, they didn't even bother sending him an advanced screening of the documentary. Not surprised he doesn't know who Joe is, it's not like Roger actually has an interest in Michael's music.

He sounds like a kid throwing a temper tantrum because nobody pays any attention to him:rofl:

In his recent post he constantly writes about Spike didn't include other things what went around BAD in his documentary. Its like Roger hasn't had enough of Michael and tabloid tales, he wants more and more. To him, Michael the musician doesn't exists, it is the MJ the tabloid kind that exists to him. Talking about obsessed fanatic.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

Does anyone know how to get BBC iPlayer (can only be played on device if you are in the UK with a UK ip address) to work for people not UK?
Now would be a good time to give instructions for US and other country members so they too can see full version/add free of BAD.

I would love to give instructions how to do it, but I'm not very good at that sort of things:-(
If there are people who know how to get around, please post instructions somewhere here for people who cannot view BBC.

I did Google search for instructions, hopefully people find some help from these links:

Finally saw the doc. Spike Lee did an amazing job. He captured what MJ and the album was about and I liked most of the commentary that was shown accept Nelson George's stupid remark. And the commercials truly did suck. It's like you're all into it and then a stupid commercial came.

But hats off to the great Spike Lee. He did MJ proud.

Can't wait to get the DVD.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

The BBC gave Crossfire Hurricane a decent push on their channels, I'm wondering if anyone has seen a trailer for Bad 25 yet?

I favourited a daily mail webpage about getting a bbciplayer app for international use a while back (my american cousin inexplicably wanted to know how she cd watch eastenders) - it might not cover all bbc programmes (ie buy-ins like spike's doc) and it seems like something you pay a monthly subscription for so i think it looks as if you are able to pay for bbciplayer outside the uk.

Also, she's a huge fan of MJ.
When I saw the Monster Ball, between the sets (from when doors opened and between the opening acts), there was nothing but Michael Jackson songs over the PA system at all the shows. Plus, she was going to be an opening act at the This Is It shows.

The Monster Ball tour alone has 201 shows all around the world!

It sucks that in some of those countries, the shows were cancelled or there was a lot of stuff to go through to play there (despite selling out the stadiums) in those backwards countries.

So roger friedman is having a whine just cuz he wasnt invited to the cinema debut of the documentary...pfffttt what a baby! LOL

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary /DVD/ TV / Theater Release [Discussion]

The fact that Michael is gone and gets 4.6 million viewers and people like Gaga get 5.5 and Beyonce 4.4 who are still here is amazing. It just shows Michael's star power. I don't know how else to put it. There wasn't even a lot of promotion and these people are here to promote their projects. People like to put Michael down because they can't stand his popularity and influence. I think if Lady Gaga is playing Michael's music during her shows is a great thing. More people hearing Michael's music.
