Now compare 2010 Michael sales. If the new Album can manage the sales & especially the buzz/hype she created in tv, radio, charts - THEN THAT WOULD BE A HUGE SUCCESS FOR MJ with posthumous album.

That's not to say she's in the same league as MJ. She clearly isn't. Nobody is & never will be.
That's just a look at the situation we have now & here, with MJ gone.

Ok her second album hit #2 in US. She has no #1 singles at all. Her best charting single peaked at #6 and that's her only top 20 hit!

I am realistic. With this kind of promotion MJ can beat her any day.

You say Born to Die sold 3.4 M worldwide, MICHAEL sold 2.5 M worldwide with 3 fake songs! .. causing huge controversy and boycotts from fans. This album with all MJ songs can easily sell 5 M worldwide with right promotion.

I'm not saying the album will be #1, just that this Lana girl won't sell more than MJ in first week. Katy Perry, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Jay-Z.. yes, but not Lana Del Rey.

Five mil? That's somewhat of a stretch. Very few albums make it to five million worldwide sales nowadays. I don't even think this new album will beat Michael. We'll be lucky if we make it to 2 million worldwide, to be quite honest. Of course if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to say so.

But I agree with you otherwise, there's no way that Lana's album will beat Michael's, so long as the Estate puts out wise singles and promotes the hell out of it.
 
5 million would be a rough one but reachable...

I personally am thinking 3.8-4.2 million sales are very realistic.. so let me round to 4 million!

We have to consider a few things..

Pro positive sales:
* Michael gets sales because it is Michael (the demographic his music sells have a higher percentage of actual music purchase)
* 'Michael' sold decently well with boycotts, low/no real radio play, and poor promotion
* If this album gets real radio play and is radio friendly it will up sales

Basically I believe that 2.5 million sales are almost promised just simply because true MJ fans will buy because it's MJ.. above that would be the people outside the die hard fans that will buy because they are legitimately interested in the music solely for the sound.. I really believe with the above considerations at least 1.5 million more would buy!

Cons sales:
* Some tracks have been leaked
* Michael is not here to promote
*people don't buy music the way they used to
 
I would say sales over 3 million is very good.

Albums simply don't sell anymore. - But if the album has some hits and gets radio play - and great promotion like the SONY commercial - I would say 4 million might happen. Would be absolutely amazing if it happend.

i do plan on having a summer to end all summers, 17 of my 40 friends on facebook are Michael Jackson fans.. so i'll buy several copies for them.. i'm getting a car soon, road trip, Michael's music blasting out.. i'll stamp the album cover on the bonnet :D hehe
 
Bump the views count when it's 10 millions :) With views today where almost everyone is online and uses youtube, 1 million is nothing when it comes to official products

If it was 2008-2010, 1 million views would be impressive.
 
Regards Lana Del Ray, if I was a betting man I'd put money on her doing less than half of the numbers of her first album.

Artists like that benefit hugely from 'new artist' buzz. Lana got a LOT of that around the time of her Video Games track picking up momentum. She was the new unknown artist that everyone was asking each other about.

She doesn't have ANY of that now. She's got to go the distance on JUST the music this time. She could hope to do similar numbers or better with some really fantastic mega hits but how often does that happen? Hope she surprises me though. For the sake of music.
 
We can never count out a high album sale.. high being above the average of todays market.. Adeles 21 album released in 2011 sold 28 million.. that is crazy high for today.. but IF her album can reach that despite the odds of it happening we never can fully count out a great sale mark of a Michael Jackson album...

I'm not saying I expect any number around that, but I wont count out a 5 million mark! It's getting close to time for us fans to market the album through social media.. It's right around the corner for that time..

It has only been a couple of days and well this isin't Iphone or Samsung:p Judging by the other videos uploaded on their channel, not many videos get passed the 1million mark :)

possibly one of the first two thursdays of march.. but we will see, surely they won't leave it too long between the song premiering & the announcement though

Why thursdays?? - Last time the announcement came a friday (for Michael)

And many announcements are made on tuesdays aren't they?
 
Most announcements are made on Mondays. But that's why Michael came as such a surprise, I suppose.

I'm positive we'll be getting an announcement before March ends.

You guys seem to be getting a little happier and more positive--great!!!! Keep up the good work. It is so good to see the Michael name attached to some different markets. I hope this is the beginning of Michael's name and music being paired with new ventures. Maybe they will do something with comics--something he loved and always wanted to get into.

Agreed! ^_^ I think it helps that the snippet has been out for about a week or so now, allowing people to actually give it a chance and sink in. It would be great if everyone takes that into consideration when the album is finally released and gives it a proper chance :)

They gotta capitalise on this and announce it stat - hype will die out again soon.
 
I'm a Samsung GS fan and Sony will have to do a lot more than use unreleased Mike tracks to get me to switch. What about the PHONE itself? Would any of you be interested in the Sony phone if they DIDN'T use Mike tracks?

No - That's exactly why they use Michael Jackson - That will make many many people see the commercial that would normally not....

I am not interesseted in the phone, but if it had not been for MJ I would not even know a new SONY phone coming out...
