Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

If L.A. Reid said they took songs that had complete vocals, then I would have to imagine that LNFSG had complete vocals and it was an outtake.
Just because some fans (I haven't heard the leak of LNFSG) heard the leak doesn't mean, like Brichey mentions, that they used that particular leak for this song. There could be others that never leaked that were better. Just sayin' I'll just keep waiting
isn't it a victory outtake? When the song got leaked around xmas 2005(or 2006?) it was said that BNA repleaced LNFSG on the Victory album

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

This "nothing to worry about" logic being used recently is incorrect. A person isn't allowed to speak negatively about a certain decision they may not like? We should just praise it, and if we don't like it, hey don't even mention it, keep your lips sealed....Please.

Artistically they're two different things, now had you said Michael sampled Biggie, that's different, but it still isn't the same because we know Michael actually admired the guy and his music and worked with him before. There's nothing that supports such a thing in the case of Tupac.

First of all, it's 'just' a sampling, so getting all fed up about it is beyond me, but that's your choice.

Secondly, it's NOT gonna be on the main album, not gonna be on the Deluxe album and it might also never be released. It's purely a remix. I bet you, if it's not released (including as a single release remix) then a fan will make it. That is why I say "don't worry about it" because you have nothing to worry about. All the arguments you make are against this idea as if it will be on the actual album. We already know it won't be, so again, you shouldn't worry about that.

As for the sampling issue, I've gathered we (and others) will share different views on that. And that's not a problem. Not everyone has to like the same thing.

Edit: Also, it's L.A. Reid who did the sampling, not MJ as you mentioned. In that case you shouldn't worry that it would hurt MJ's integrity or image as he had no say in it.

But, the problem with most of those posting 'negative' comments is, once never seems to be enough.

Some seem surprised that MJ fans, posting on an MJ forum, don't want to hear the same negative comments being posted over and over again. Why would any MJ fan want that, or be surprised by that?

It seems to me that the people posting the negative comments are worried that their negativity might get lost, each time a positive comment is posted that contradicts their view - so they think, "I better repost my negative comment just to reinforce my view, as there are way too many positive comments for my liking".

Surely fans can say they don't like it and move on. Perhaps they could even find something they like, and post a positive comment?

I just don't see the motive for continuing to post something negative, on a site where the vast majority of people are happy and positive. It's all rather odd to me.

I see where you are coming from with this argument, but remember the "Michael" album? There were lots of fans who liked that aswell as there were lots of fans who didn't like it for various reasons. And those reasons were discussed a lot aswell. Many times when one gets negative about something he/she only hopes that, somehow, things get better in the end. Because they want to enjoy the same thing as all the positive fans do, but can't.

Also, some don't accept something as easily as other people. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

PLEASE let there be a single release tommoro!!

haha .. I know right. I want my one song I can listen to on loop over and over and over and over again until the whole album is out.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

No, it isn't. Changes is one of 2Pac's biggest hits. So to use his hit song to try to make a formerly unrealesed and unknown MJ track a hit is a very cheap PR trick and something that is below Michael's level. Michael's use of a verse from an obscure Biggie (actually Shaquille O'Neal) song that never was a hit or his use of words by a man who never even was in the music business is artistically a totally different decision and not a cheap shot at trying to elevate your song by using someone else's song that has already been a hit. Totally different matters artistically.
Not to mention that the Rod Serling sampling on Threatened to which it was compared to, was creative. They set old narration of a tv show to music. They took tons of samples from different Twilight Zone episodes and combined them in such a way that it ended up sounding as if Rod Serling was rapping. Not comparable to simply getting some existing vocals and editing them in without doing anything to them, imo.

Who knows what they did with 2Pac's rap? =)

 Ok, you got me there.

Maybe Pac does see changes in the MJ version.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Well, off to bed now! Can't wait to wake to a single announcement, track listing and short film release! Either that or another six pages of nothingness!

Good night MJJC x

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

If the first single do well. That's what I'm saying. We'll probably get 2 singles. But we could have had 4.

2 singles? The "Michael" album had 4 singles, this one should surpass that :)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I really hope LNFSG isn't the first single. It should be Slave To The Rhythm or Xscape

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Is there something you know that we don't - would you like to share plssssssss:D

Sorry unfortunately I am not able to share any of my knowledge, my advise is wait for them to announce officially which I am sure they will with lots of notice - thus nothing is happening in 48 hours.

You wouldn't deny if I say that the album tracks are fixed. (only the track order can/will change)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

We don't know what the first single will be because it is suppose to be a surprise and a secret. Let's not worry too much about anything. From reading the reviews so far I think people are just saying what they were surprised with and what they liked the most. That is what the experience should be like. Thinking we know something going in and then realizing we didn't know and makes us really think about the album. A lot of albums can be forgettable but you always want it to be remembered.

I notice some artists say they write a song and boom in 6 months it's on the radio lol. Michael was not like that. I bet if he was here and wrote a song in 1979 and kept working on it over the years and felt that something about that song was right for 2014 he would release it. I feel in getting to know Michael's way of working ( what info I have gathered here and there) that it wasn't what the year it was created in but what was the message that was important. He really did value his songs as a work of art. Perfecting it and if it didn't fit now it would later on for something else.

I will be honest I was worried if they picked songs he created early on in his career but then I realized he worked on things by updating them is his way through his life. I say if you have heard leaked versions of anything, pretend you haven't. Go into this like it's the first time you are ever hearing a lyric, a voice, a sound or anything. Or even look at the leaked versions like a rehearsal and wait for the actual show to see the difference. Try to let go of what you think something will be and see what it will be.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I prefer LNFSG to Blue Gangsta and Slave to the Rhythm. Better melody, catchier verse and chorus. But hey, that's why they're called opinions. Not everyone's is the same.

I see some are getting Xscape crazy.....:)
