Love Never Felt So Good: The Official Music Video Is Here!

Unimpressed. How many videos will they make always using the same footage from the same videos that the whole world has already seen a thousand times? And I must say watching a video of other people doing Michael's moves interests me about as much as an album of other people singing Michael's greatest hits. They're all great dancers, sure, but I can't get excited about that, it's Michael that interests me. Xscape is exciting because we get to hear new Michael Jackson songs... why can't they use the occasion to give us new Michael Jackson video footage that we have never seen? Unleaked concerts, behind the scenes of music videos, studio footage, home movies, they have plenty to choose from!

I wish this video would make me want to watch it over and over again, but there's no incentive really, I'd rather go watch the original videos from which the footage was taken.

Not really a fan, it's nothing we haven't seen before, as far as MJ goes.

Because the vast majority of people do not want to see what you are describing.

Yes, hardcore MJ fans want to see your version, but how many are there, for instance, in the UK?

'Xscape' sold just over 17,000 on the first day. I am pretty sure that most of that was hardcore MJ fans, as they will always get it on the very first day.

Now, that a (maximum) of 17,000 hardcore MJ fans in a population of about 65 million! The video HAS TO appeal to more than those hardcore fans. We already buy the album. Sony/The Estate want to attract many, many more customers. Otherwise they are wasting their time, and not doing their job of extending MJ's fan base, and making money for his children (yes, and themselves).

If a few hardcore fans don't like this video, but hundreds of thousands of casual/new fans do, so what? I will be happy if it attracts many new fans to MJ's albums - new and old - and most fans, well the unselfish ones, would probably feel the same.

I know Michael is not 'mine'. I know his music is not just for me. I know not everything is done for my approval and benefit. It a shame more can not realise that.

Re: Love Never Felt So Good - Official music video

Oh God I love it. I am crying over here. It is beautiful. We are celebrating Michael. Makes me miss him so much. Good work!

Same here ! :)

Meh. I wasn't really expecting much to begin with. I'll always see these as tribute videos not music videos or short films. The Estate should hire someone to make a short film...maybe for their next project. Obviously the master isn't here to create something amazing, but I think they could come up with something cool if they really tried.

Were all those people in the video fans?

I think every video will just be an homage to Michael, which is not a bad thing. At least we still get a video. I don't know how many dead artists still get a music video like this. I don't expect any short films like Michael used to do them...
I like the video :) Simple and fun. I like how they included all the "smile" moments

I agree with you that the video must appeal to the general public, but the question is: would the general public enjoy more a video of random people dancing to Michael's music or a well-made compilation of the best footage from a Michael Jackson concert? Surely the hardcore fans are not the only ones who think the man himself is more entertaining than random people imitating him?

This video is very similar to the one for "Hold My Hand", and I don't remember the general public going crazy over that one...

^^^^

It got to #10 in the UK, with the help of the video, and the song was no where near as good as LNFSG.

Sony has to cater for the larger audience. The fans have hundreds of hours of MJ in concert etc.

This is a fun song and showing people having fun and showing love to Michael. We have seen the footage many times but I feel that the general public need to be reminded of Michael's greatness. It brings positive feelings for them. It can't always be about us. If there is a second single they can put more of an effort of telling a story but for this I love it for what it is and brings joy to people.

I can't stand this argument. Michael's kids are set for life and have more money than everyone on this forum combined.

Disappointing production..

Same scenes of MJ all over again and just Timberlake throughout the whole video
Could you promote Michael instead of JT? Thats just crazy.

Anyway nice Video.

I like it - They incorporated Michael clips in the video because that is what fans requested more clips/footage of MJ. So they had to come up with a concept to make this more interesting and part of todays culture and dancing.

This is not just dancing in between random clips of Michael as a few have stated. It was very creative for the fact they included many iconic places and moments from MJ Short Films and allowed the dancers to interact with it as if they were actually there. Showing Michael's music and short films are timeless and we can still dance and enjoy ALL of it today, just as they were doing.... I appreciate that http://youtu.be/3Iw-vUBo7v4

You can tell they look they are enjoying themselves and I like seeing new generation and younger people dancing like Michael. His legacy just grows. I miss him.

This is great promotion.

Nice video but I think it lacked creativity and imagination. It looked like the video was made in an afternoon and the choice of footage used was interesting in my opinion.

As it's been said before, this was a good way to promote the single/album and it has to appeal to non or partial fans for it to sell and do well.

I also think that us fans are very difficult to please. We want innovation whilst keeping it honest (MJ One hologram), we want new footage whilst having the highest quality (Wembley), we want Michel in a way that's not possible so I think they were damned either way they went.

I'll probably get shot down for saying this but I'd really like to see an upbeat video made with the worlds top lookalikes and tribute performers. It may sound odd but these are the guys that keep things moving and are literally putting in the hours to keep the legacy alive in their own way.

With there being so many around the world of different ethnicities, genders, sizes etc, it could really show the range of his influence if done tastefully.

Anyway we will see what the next single brings.

Some of you fans are just too difficult to please and have your expectations way too high to be honest.

The thing is, Michael Jackson isn't here anymore. The star of the show, that everyone wants to see, isn't here. It's extremely hard to get people interested in music videos if the star isn't there. Importantly, this video is not aimed for hardcore fans like you or I - it's aimed at the general public. If Michael Jackson isn't there, or at least some respectable superstar, they're not going to really give a shit.

In that way, I think the video works fine. It's simple, fun and reminds them of MJ's greatness, what everyone LOVED about MJ, his influence, all while attracting even more general fans (and non-fans) thanks to the appearance of Justin Timberlake. Most of the time too, the dancing of MJ is in time with the song as well.

So we have the animation idea, which I actually think is really awesome. Would I like to see MJ-inspired animated short films? Yes!! And I hope they do that for STTR or APWNN, but LNFSG is not the type of song for a short film. Many others have said that in this thread too. I would keen to see them have an animated music video for the next single, but I also wouldn't be surprised if half of you fans criticised the animation style they would eventually choose too.

Love Never Felt So Good is a fun, simple song. The music video reflects that perfectly while also having the potential to attract general audiences.

Also Im surprised some were complaining in this thread and didn't get the reference of the closeup faces changing and lip singing to his music. Like it was just random and had no meaning. That was also a simple fun tribute to one of MJ's Iconic Short films . Black or White. > http://youtu.be/3Iw-vUBo7v4

This really surprised me too, it was one of the first things I noticed.

Really liked the video. Justin looked soo good in it. Unff

And does anyone actually expect there to ever be a posthumous MJ video that will be grand and epic?
There won't be. They will all be in one form or another using clips from other videos with other people dancing.
So as far as this one goes, it was very well done.

Maybe at some point, they will put a little money into a clip that will be completely animated or something, but any video is simply going to be a performance piece to promote the latest project.

Everything you just said.... yes.

I believe the original short films were shot on film and then transferred to tape, which was then edited.

If they're going to rescan and remaster the short film's, it's going to be a very long and expensive process. They will have to sort through each and every single take, find the correct one, and then reassemble it perfectly so it's almost indistinguishable from the versions we currently have. This is, of course, ignoring other factors such as visual effects that were often applied in Michael's later videos (i.e. the CGI in Scream).

I have little doubt though that the Estate has at least looked into this process, however.

re the BOW reference--yes, it was obvious but IMO it was way overdone.

Having said that, I liked that the video had kids in it--MJ would have liked that--having children included.

I agree it was dull, though, and at the same time too busy. Not that it was terrible--it had some sweet moments and JT looked good.

I liked the fanmade video better--where they throw the hat.

I agree with you on this 100%.

My feeling too.
