“By the time we got to Woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere was a song and celebration”
Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” was the first Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young hit single following CS&N’s debut charters: “Marrakesh Express” and “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”. Read about these and some of the other earth-shattering compositions by David, Stephen and Graham who together left us indelible memories of their stunning three-part harmonies.

Songs by CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH
In the 1960’s, the term ‘supergroup’ was used to describe bands made up of superstar members of different rock groups. Crosby, Stills & Nash were the quintessential example of such a collaboration, each of whom had carved out illustrious careers before joining forces in the summer of 1968: David Crosby formerly of the Californian folk rock group The Byrds, Stephen Stills of the equally legendary west coast country rock band Buffalo Springfield and Graham Nash who was a founder member of the hit- laden British pop/rock group The Hollies.
Joined later by an equally celebrated fourth member – Neil Young (also formerly of Buffalo Springfield) – they became a major success: their soaring, ethereal vocal harmonies and acoustic accompaniment instantly capturing the attention of audiences worldwide.
The debut self-titled Crosby, Stills & Nash LP in 1969 was particularly powerful introducing their trademark sound and another highspot was the first Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young collaboration titled “Déjà Vu” a year later. Later, Crosby & Nash released both solo and duo albums and the following selection of the large catalog of C, S & N compositions controlled by Sony/ATV gives an overview of highlights from their individual songwriting contained in the albums released by the various aggregations.
The themes of their songs range from political statements to wistful romantic tales. Here are a group of highlights from their three catalogs with some selected lyric extracts:
