Not sure how the tidbit below should be taken, perhaps Richard Price didn't think working on a music video was serious enough:

Richard Price on ‘Lush Life,’ Martin Scorsese, and Michael Jackson

So, how did you get involved in writing the dialogue for the video of Michael Jackson’s "Bad"?
Oh my God.
It's on YouTube, you know.

Too late to deny it then. Listen, it sounded like a great idea. Martin Scorsese came to me and said Quincy Jones came to him on behalf of Michael Jackson to do a music video. This was when music videos were just becoming a big thing. So Jackson wanted to show people that he's "down." Think about it: Richard Price, Scorsese, Michael Jackson, who the hell is going to say no? Of course I was going do it. And everybody did their job. Jackson is not a bad actor, and Scorsese, well, he's great. I wrote a really good eight-page script. Problem is that Michael Jackson is Michael Jackson … he looks like Minnie Mouse. And you forget the whole thing has to end with a song. Looking at it now, I think it's cool I did it. No one holds it against me, anyway.
It's definitely one of the more unusual writing credits.
True dat.

And Sheryl Crow speaks to French Metro:
It's the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's Thriller. You used to be his back up singer and you toured with him at the height of his career. How do you remember him?
He's one of pop and RnB's most influencial American musicians. I loved being a part of his history and watching him move like no other. Despite the mess that goes on around him, he's still a genius.

That's what sooooo funny, yet sooo great about that video.

Like if there ever was a universe where MJ would look "gangsta" or "tough" in any shape, form, or fashion....that script would work PERFECT. And MJ isn't a bad actor, like he said. but the only reason it was funny cuz....there's no way MJ could be that rough

thing is...MJ's look is what made it perfect for me, lol. i mean, if he was what people think of as a gangsta look, then, it would be just another gangsta movie, with stereotypes. and, i personally would have found it to be forgettable. but because it's MJ, i can never forget it.:punk:

i don't think it would be just another gangsta movie if the gangstas busted out dancing in the end  But yeah it was perfect though, cuz it was MJ's vision and it worked for him. It's still funny as heck when u got tough azz wesley "BLADE." snipes yelling at Michael, and MJ is like "you wanna see who's bad? I'll show you who's bad!" all pissed  I just can't help but think "man, mike SIT DOWN. Snipes will beat. yo'. azz!"

Its been a while since i've seen it lol

I love the fact that he's trying to be tough but he's still wearing eyeliner and flooded pants  Check out 3:07  man i love this vid lol

MJ: "Tortishell Glasses,"

Snipes: "Well ex-cuse me, brotha"

And TELL me I'm not the only one that finds 5:40 funny  They go down the line and everyone is lookin all cool and sturn, and then they pan to MICHAEL, and he's like :not_me:

 and the the infamous... "Gimme a quata" I mean when i first saw it, I thought he was gonna say "gimme yo' money" or something, or just attack the person...but nope. he says 'gimme a quata'

I do love the script and the acting though. Its very well done. I like snipes/MJ's emotional exchange. The line: "See you up there in doomsbary playing tennis with his turtle-shells" That's great. LOL

And MJ's "Leave me alone, I'm TIRED of you messin' wit' me STOP IT!" and "Get out my way, MOVE" Great delivery. I'm sorry but MJ's voice just...is NOT tough at ALL  "YOU AIN't BAD YOU AIn't NOTH-THIN! You AIN'T NOTH-THIN!" (then dancers jump out of no where and he has a wardrobe change, hair suddenly got longer and everything, and he can sing and dance in heels and 230 buckles on, oh yeah Mike, really tough )

Ha, that would probably start a new show, 'Dancing with the Gangstas'.....

Yeah, that part is funny. Cute little Miky....showing his tough moves. "You ain't noth'in..YOU AIN'T NOTH'IN!!!":p

See, ya'll don't get it about the "Bad" video. First of all, the message wasn't Michael trying to be tough, lol. Everyone makes that mistake. He was saying, 'look, beating up on people weaker then you and acting down and tough doesn't MAKE you tough, it doesn't make you bad. And don't give in to peer pressure because you'll end up in a bad place.' Listen to the lyrics of the song too. That's why Michael's character rebels and tells them they "ain't nothin'". In that context, the video makes perfect sense. And the whole musical scene, what people miss about this video is, and this is brilliant, the musical section is supposed to be all in Daryle's (Michael's) head, part of his imagination. It's what he invisions happening after Wesley tells him he's not down and all this crap. It's Michael's character imagining what he wishes would happen. Because at the end, when Wesley and his crew walk away, it pans back around to Michael, back in his sweatshirt and pea coat, all alone. Because he wouldn't do what Wesley and the gang were trying to pressure him in to, they abandoned him in the subway. It's a fantastic piece of work and one of my top five videos of Michael's. His acting was great in it too. He seemed truly upset in a lot of those exchanges. Martin Scorsese said that Michael thought back to a lot of the exchanges he had with his father to get that emotion up. Method acting.

WBSS, I do get that, and always have - that's why it hit a chord with me, and why I totally love it!!!

Well, some people get it, lol. I keep talking about this video but nobody seems to notice, lol. I must be boring or something, haha.

that speech at Oxford was just great!
yes... so meaningful and so wise
Michael's being true about himself was really touching and
the words makes you think

it's even more touching when you are listening to it....
