I LOVED IT!!!

Lighten up people, it was amazing and had every single person in that arena captivated!!

The first ever televised "hologram" has just happened and it had Mike's name written all over it!

Of course it's not going to be "100% I can't believe it omg it's like he never died" kind of thing, and maybe it shouldn't of been as hyped as Robin Leach made it out to be, but it was still the highlight of the show without a doubt!

We are huge MJ fans. - We are a bit disappointed.

Most people will hopefully enjoy it and like it very much!!

If people just like the song and but Xscape I am morethan happy!!!

Just came back and saw the video. It was good. :) Of course to us hardcore fans it will feel a bit weird and "iffy" but I think for the general audience and non-fans it was a rather pretty good performance. What can they do you know? MJ is not here, so the magic is not all there, but I think it was good. Now to see it when it actually airs. Was sweet to see a couple people tearing though... aww.

Michael isn't here. Don't expect Michael quality or fluidness with dancing. All in All I thought it was good. Its fantastic promo, let it sink in and please stop hating. Everyones a critic. When you die, I bet you wouldn't give as good of a performance. :p (humor, im not funny)
So because Michael is no longer here we should accept a CGI'ed run-of-the-mill impersonator performing a remix of a Michael Jackson song at an award show?

I'm assuming this was probably the same guy that did the hologram for the One show. I was definitely expecting more. It was okay for that, but not for a performance like this. Why use a hologram of an impersonator? That's just silly to me. I thought they said it was going to more and better. On a positive note I thought the choreography and stage was nice.

The guy who did this Billboard performance, is confirmed to be Christopher Gaspar. Not sure if he's the same guy who did the MJ Experience video game, but the guy that did that game, is also the impersonator for the MJ one shows.

I just facepalm hard at this. It was so hyped to be so much more, and of course, a lot of us played into this only to be disappointed in the end. They hit a homerun with the Xscape album itself, but at least got strike one with this so-called "hologram". I'm sure the crowd liked it though, it must of been cool to see live, but on television, it was just so obvious. The only thing I found cool, were how the actual dancers seemed to be popping out of the screen.

And as for the "maybe it was all they could do with the technology" comments. No, it's not. The Tupac hologram answers that question. Perhaps this was all the Estate legally had access to, but this was not the best technology could do, in terms of holograms. And maybe it's just rough translation, but according to the Christopher Gaspar guy, he claims the Estate told him that the "hologram" wasn't ready......If the translation is correct, I just have to wonder, what where they doing these previous two years?

Another MJ record !!

First ever....

Man of records! :)

Honestly, I thought it was really cool. Sure, it looked like a CGI Michael, but I admire what they did. And it's promotion for the album, which is always a good thing.

I had no expectations, so I wasn't disappointed. What did you all expect to see? Michael resurrected like Jesus, then bust a move on ya? The ONLY way we'll ever see Mike dance again is to watch his videos, watch his concerts and on YouTube.

When Luda and those other two introduced Michael Jackson, that's what we got: Michael Jackson, VOCALLY! That voice bumping through the sound system was MICHAEL JACKSON. That groove was MICHAEL JACKSON. The excitement it generated (even bringing some in the audience to tears) was MICHAEL JACKSON!

They could have just had a still pic of him on a huge screen draped in silk and just play the song and the results would have been the same: we heard Michael's voice again via music we haven't heard before. Michael is BACK and I for one am very happy about that.

PEACE!

Bolded part:  *dies* SHEILAAAA! xD I love you for that

I am soo tired.

I am off to bed.

It was nice staying up with all you great people. Have a nice day y'all!

Spread the word of Xscape - and L.O.V.E

Something last no minute had to have happened, this can't be what those tech companies and Alki David went to court to stop. Michael gave us his all and this is all they could come up with for him? The media reports are gonna be hard to read.

I'm not even interested in viewing that footage again! I'm so pissed of about this.

I'm sorry but it is hard for me to believe that it was Christopher Gaspar ...Well, I agree that it was an impersonator but he doesn’t look like Christopher much. IDK.

Well I was trembling. His face looked like a hologram - and it didn't feel like an impersonator to me. I don't know I was WOW. It brought tears to my eyes.

To be honest, personally, I think now that I've seen this it was a step too far. I was excited to watch it, and it's NOT absolutely 100% horrendously awful, but I do think it is distasteful. The dancing was poor and the body imagery was poor and out-of-date (1990s MJ: seriously?). I did, however, REALLY REALLY like the staging with the throne, etc. That was wonderful! Shame the person sitting on it did not look anything like Michael!

Is this the guy they used?

I can't believe some fans are actually defending this shit. "Michael made history", really?? Michael would have never EVER agree to something so half-assed and embarrassing being associated with him. He was upset about the Who Is It video and didn't make it official because a body double was used there - and you could hardly tell. But this? An impersonator dancing to a butchered song - way to honor the artist's legacy.

I'm so done with this album, and its promotion. Sony is HOPELESS. That deal in 2010 was the biggest mistake that was made since Michael's death. And I was of better opinion of the MJ estate. Cirque show was a good tribute, BAD 25 was awesome, but how did they then stoop to THIS?

I saw it in HD and it looked pretty good. You could tell the face was CGI, but I thought it was pretty darn good. The stage itself had reflection, There was some interation. The dancing was pretty good.

I have to agree here. Yeah it could've been better, perhaps maybe some different choreography, and the impersonator aspect was disappointing (I thought it would be completely computer-generated and not based off another guy's moves?), but I liked it enough. The fact that they showed people in the audience crying is a good enough indicator that they succeeded. Maybe they'll improve it for future shows, but for now, this has been a great night and a great end to the weekend. :D

Wait... that means I have to go back to work tomorrow. Nooooo~

IF THEY USED AN IMPERSONATOR. It would be for tracking the movements.
Its done in movies, and videogames. live actors most of the time really play cut scenes out.
Im pretty positive it was full CG. And using the tracking would make sense because... derp CGI.

What you have, is what you can work with.

AT LEAST its not a run of the mill tribute with videos.
My parents were watching with me and the whole time they were like OMG. They usually hate Michael!
They loved it and cant stop talking about it.

I stayed up sooo late to see this, all exited. After I've seen it I'm just tired.

Here in Denmark it's nearly 4 AM... - so not many hours of sleep to me.

Not sure if it was worth staying up for. - But the MJ exitement is still here. iHeart, songs released in the days leading up to the album release and now this.

SONY and The Estate really tries and does everything they can. - If this is the best technollogy can make it's all they could do really.

I sure respect they tried, and it sure did help promote Xscape - it's trending, it got a lot of talk - it makes many hear the song. - So really it makes a lot of good things.

BUT - as a MJ fan I feel a little sad and disappointed. - Also they hyped it to the skies. Maybe a little to much. :)

Hope it will help sales!! MJ deserves another #1 in the US !!

Well Said!!!! :agree:

:clapping:I agree with you. I LOVED the "Slave to the Rhythm" performance. :clapping:

They superimposed Michael's face on the History statue, during the promotion of that album, using CGI. I suspect the same thing may have happened here. And anyone with an HD tv, saw this in HD. Is that supposed to mean something more because it was viewed in HD as opposed to standard definition? I watched it in HD, still seemed pretty half assed to me. But again, I'm a home viewer, like I said in my last comment, I wouldn't doubt that it was an awesome experience live, as I saw some of the people in the audience crying.

But still, the way this was hyped. The hype alone makes this somewhat of a disappoint.

Sorry that seeing pictures or video footage of the REAL MJ would bore you. I guess you would rather see a cheap impersonator dance badly to his music. :head_bang:

This thing couldn't even dance! HOW DARE they tried to pass this thing off as Michael?!/being based on Michael?!

IF if it was indeed a 'thing' and not z-grade impersonator why was it based on an impersonator though?!
They surely could have made one based on Michael's old footage. I saw Tupac's and I am one of the few who actually liked it.
This was beyond worse and the hype didn't help at all.

I loved hearing Michael's voice and I am glad that many people heard that song tonight.

We were told that they were going to use footage of Michael from L.A. Reid's archive for this show. I did not see any Michael in this tonight performing that song.

Why did they tell us that?

Your comments are excellent!!!! :agree:

:clapping:I agree with you. I LOVED the "Slave to the Rhythm" performance. :clapping:

What happened to the footage that they told us was new found footage that L.A. Reid found of Michael performing Slave to the Rhythm????? That's what they told us it would be.

I don't think there was any Michael in that performance at all.
Where did they tell that? Did they officially say that somewhere or is it just a rumour? I think they haven't officially said a lot about this whole thing so I wouldn't blame the estate for lying to us yet. I guess I want to hear first what they have to say about this and I think this 'performance' was okay as long as they don't try to tell us that it was based on MJ's original footage. We are not stupid. :)

Did anyone else notice that as soon as the performance ended, and the lights came back on, the entire audience was looking away from the stage, at something in the back? I wonder what that's about...
