Michael Jackson’s Forgotten Fortune: Secret Art Collection Uncovered & Valued At $900M /Update @pg10

Yep!

"Some" folks are so busy trying to get rid of John Branca, that they end up treating Thome-Thome as an afterthought. We hear a little bit about him, everynow and then, but mainly he manages to keep himself and his doings hidden. He's probably delighted that the focus is on Branca and not him.

Question for anybody: is it true that Jermaine Jackson brought Thome-Thome into Michael's life, has that association ever been confirmed?

Yes. And Jermaine showed up at the hospital press-conference WITH Tohme. Tohme spoke FIRST.

Clearly, Jermaine has some connection with Colony Capital (as does Tohme). In the early days after Michael's death, Jermaine gave several interviews at Neverland and was pushing HARD for Michael to be buried there (Graceland-style? Or theme park?). The community was against it, though, because of the traffic it would have brought in.

the last set that you posted is perfectly fine. thank you

btw i looked to the documents - the appraisal ones - it says michael took 10 drawings (but left 182 as a "small token of appreciation" as tohme calls it - are you kidding me) and they are valued at $90 million and not at $900 million which makes sense.

and the letter itself more seems like michael was thinking about displaying such things at art galleries and museums.

The appraisal letter I think is from 2008. (Perhaps that is where Strong got the idea to price the collection at $87.7 mil) At the end of the appraisal, it says the items would be valued much higher at auction. Plus they appraised 108 not the 182. I think they are taking the much higher value at auction, plus the fact that MJ is no longer living and the added increase in value this would add and is highballing the price at $900 mil.

ETA: Why when I went to google MJ News, did I find that some people are newly reporting the Aaron Carter claims and without the news that Aaron said he did not say those things. One even said it suggests MJ was responsible for Aaron's stint at the Betty Ford clinic because of this.

What in the world is that???

'Reproduction rights are owned by BLS and the Jackson-Strong Alliance'

i think this solves "why they need estate's release" question.

any buyer that wants to publish these paintings in a book or reproduce them in any way (poster, print) etc to sell would need estate's approval. without that they might become not profitable and just be an art in a personal collection.

could be but still too high imo. thriller jacket is the highest selling celebrity memorabilia at $1.8 million. if each painting was sold for the same amount it would still only make $330 million and not $900 m. $900 million valuation requires each item to average $5 million.

900 million is a silly number, no way its worth that much. Probably Mann and Kathrine trying to steer something upp. with that being said i hope Michaels art goes back to the estates/his kids where it belongs.

Yeah, I think they were highballin it. But it is still probably worth more than $90,000,000. I think they just pulled the $900,000,000 number from the air to make a headline.

Wow... what a way to start my evening! Just thought I would pop in, catch up on the Carter story and leave quietly!!!!

One thing that I find interesting in all of this.... Michael owned the collection, and there is nothing to suggest that he agreed to the sale (No physical evidence)... then surely it would be easy for the estate to now say that as Michael's personal collection, this now belongs to the estate???

I'm so confused!

Amazing, how many times have we listened to interviews by those whose only acquisition is gaining a reputation for running their mouth and holding their noses in the air when speaking disparagingly of Michael's taste in art? The Bashir's and Morgan's.

I am sure there will be more article concerning the tug of war than how it is Michael came to have these assets and discussing his knowledge of art which could lead to such a collection.

I agree the valuations for each drawing seem very high. Looking at the highest prices I can find paid to date at auction for MJs artwork (at Juliens on 26 June 2009), a portrait of a boy sold for $20.5K including commission and a painting of Mickey Mouse sold for $25K . The new drawings look very inventive and well drawn, but even allowing for that, I wouldn't have thought that they would fetch more than 4 times Julien's previous sale price....unless they come with reproduction rights, which if BLS gets permission from the Estate, they will..so maybe this was factored into the valuations?

Isn't this sounding like the whole auction confusion? And didn't Michael manage to stop the auction, so maybe Thome didn't have POA over anything or at least not over everything. Anything such as this belongs with his estate, which Michael created for a reason.

It is strange that supposedly Thome won't sign for authenticity. I just find it weird that Michael would give away that many pieces to one person.

I knew strong was a shady character..when he showed up at Hayvenhurst with Tohme for the Oprah interview. I wonder what else Tohme had stolen from MJ

Maybe off-topic but whatever.. did Tohme really show up at Hayvenhurst during the Oprah interview?? (october 2010)
So he is still kinda around. I always wondered what happened to him. The Jacksons dont seem bother answering that (except latoya).

some of the drawings mentioned in the article are the ones that were shown to Oprah when she did her special with Katherine and MJ3. And Livingstone was the one who brought them there if I am not mistaken.

This ^ That's what I thought right away when I saw the listing of the Martin Luther King Jr. drawing by Michael. I remember seeing it on the Oprah behind the sences episode about Katherine Jackson & The Kids.

And the drama continues.......

People can talk about Branca and McClain all they want but all eyes need to be on that damn DR. TOHME TOHME!!!!!! shady ass creep!..... and to know that Jermaine was the one to bring him into Michael's life....jesus almighty!

Right now, I am not going to bat for NOBODY! as far as I am concerned persons in this whole thing are out for one thing and one thing only, MONEY! Some family members don't know the meaning of the word family when money is involved, just as some 'friends' know not the meaning of the word 'friendship' when big bucks are in play.

Michael Jackson was just about MONEY to some people period!

Oh and btw......Howard Mann is like a never ending rash that just won't go away! and I predict Katherine Jackson will eventually see a side to him she never knew existed!

Amen.

Why does it seem like Katherine is trying to find ways for her children, and not Michael's children, to inherit Michael's wealth?

I wish Katherine Jackson would work with the Michael Jackson Estate in an all out effort to ensure
that his children: Prince, Paris, and Blanket will one day be able to inherit that which was valuable to their father.

Michael is looked at as a money machine. People don't see him as a person. If Michael never signed anything then I don't get how these were sold in the first place and then the estate needs to release it for the sale to go through? I find the whole thing confusing.

So is this story true or not? (sorry only looked at the first 3 pages so forgive me if this was already answered before).
I have to say though, 900$M is his "forgotten" fortune. Many people have said this, and now i'm saying it too... I wish I was broke like Michael Jackson :(.

This is so strange, but wow I'd love to see Michael's art. How in the hell did Tohme get Michael's art? Wouldn't that be stealing. I hope the Estate gets everything back. These belong to Michael's kids and no one else. He was surrounded by fake ass friends and thieves.

ETA: you know what, I'm wonder if Katherine has anything to do with this as well since her business partner is involved, and there was a Marting Luther drawing by Michael at her Encino house (seen in Oprah behind the scenes photos), and the ML sketch being discussed in these articles could very well be the same picture...

Tohme has refused to "authenticate" the document. We await the next installment of this particular fiasco. Selling, or giving away, Michael's belongings without permission -- yes, that's STEALING!

What Mrs. Jackson doesn't seem to understand, is that Michael's belongings do not belong to HER! Anything and everything he owned, that had not been sold or given away, is part of the Estate. And the Estate is managing Michael's assets -- we can assume that includes art? -- for his CHILDREN.

exactly

so apparently the source is Katherine - mann for this interview.

read the Star article .
While Mann refused to comment when contacted about the deal, it's emerged he was bidding for the collection against Guy Laliberté, the former street performer who founded Cirque du Soleil and went on to become a billionaire. Neither man was successful.

He and Katheirne were the sources but for some reason he's trying to downplay his part.

In a bid to usher through the deal, Strong recently reached out to Katherine and offered to financially compensate the Jacksons. But speaking exclusively to Star, the 81 year old patriarch stated she wanted the collection to be made available for Michael's fans to view. "I think his fans will want to see them because it was a part of him," she said. "Michael was always drawing or doing art. Now people are telling us the collection is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and all these people are trying to buy it.

makes no sense, why would he compensate the Jacksons? they have no say whatsoever. And who really does believe that Katherine turned down Stone's offer because she cares about the fans ?!!!!

you want my opinion on this strory ? the jacksons want a piece of the pie , NO ONE OFFERED THEM ANYTHING because LEGALLY they have no say .

of course she's. No one can convince me she refused to be given money to support a business idea. She was offered nothing, else by now she would have been on national tvs promoting something in relation to this collections regarldess if she's legal ground to do so or not. That's why she's making buzz about the situation, she was not part of the deal and is hoping Branca and co will allow her to decide who gets those items / at which musems they will be displayed .

I think they wanted to profit ALL from the situation, Germ, his mama pap...etc , Tohme and Stone but it's Branca's signature that matters

everyone hides behind katherine in regards to issues with estate.

if we go with this story

strong was trying to sell the painting to the highest bidder , his authorization came from tohme.
he bought a buyer for $84 million but he needed estate's release on the reproduction rights
when contacted estate was like "wait what" so they refused to give any release and basically stopped the sale
they are afraid that the estate will make a play to get the items back (such as arguing that michael didn't sign and tohme's authorization didn't cover to give such permissions)
they run to katherine for help to stop and or convince the estate
it seems like katherine isn't advocating for the sale this time. her concern could be genuine or she could be wanting to stop it because her partner didn't win the bidding. who knows

exactly except 'genuine' all they care about is money if she was offered money and actually got the money she would have signed it in a heart beat . She never ever paid any attention to the executors' approval why would she now start to do so?

Wow I didn't know Michael also drew inanimate objects (the furniture, etc). I thought he only drew cartoons and portraits. There was no end to his talents.

Since when are tabloid stories from the Star reported as credible news on this forum? I guess that proves I haven't been around in a while.

What is weird is the reference about Thome and the failed auction plans; yet, he was there at the hospital where Jermaine was about to announce Michael's death.

And if people knew about this, why no mention of it to the Estate executors who you know were looking for all of Michael's possessions. Even if Strong thought that they did belong to him, wouldn't you have at least mentioned it to the Estate so that they knew hands of when it came to such.

Jermaine initially acts as if he has to find out what is going on about this; yet he ends up commenting about how private this arrangement was between Strong and Michael. Do the Jacksons' really just buy whatever is told to them or do they really know what is up?

Tohme :fear: .... maybe this is a sign to draw attention and someone to look at this guy? Where is he now? Tohme can not be forgotten!
