Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

The rumor about the "video acceptance speech" seems the least credible of them all. It was started by a random fan who claims that on some other unnamed forum another fan said that his uncle had some involvement . It sounds completely made up to me, and the fact that the poster has failed to provide even a link to the original so-called forum post furthers my belief that it was most likely a fan-created rumor, started for the sake of creating more drama...

The only factual information that anyone has at this point is that: 1.) GRAMMYs have confirmed that an "All-Star Thriller Tribute" will take place. 2.) Executive GRAMMYs Producer Ken Ehrlich has stated that Michael will not be taking the stage nor performing at the event.

Everything else is speculation, and will presumably remain as such until the event in two days.

Hey I'm on a break but wanted to pop in here!

As long it works out for his interests & in his favor and most importantly is on his terms then whatever MJ decideds to do, as a MJ fan, will be fine with me!

Who else feels that especially with fox's supposed about face re; MJ that there's a conspiracy here. "We are pullling for him", I mean.. come on!

I believe that based on MJ's experience's both with California & the disrespect he's received from the Grammy committees that he could have very well decided to give them the 'high hat'!

I'm sure he's at least considering whether or not to answer with another 'self imposed exile' move designed to reverse the snub in regard to fux, the rest of the media, the prejudice or double standards he's endured as a businessman/artist in the American music industry and country as a whole. I consider fux's:mad: leaks to be veiled threats made to MJ & wouldn't doubt he felt the same. Keep in mind that fox is owned by murdoch, who is the propoganda specialist for the republican party, (bush's buddy).

I mean think, do you think the Elvis estate, (interestingly enough recently named a national landmark by bush just after they drove MJ from his home ), BlacK American music owner, 'Mr. Maca' Paul MCartney or Sony (who apparently has a month to decide to make an offer), really wants to see MJ honored. Not to mention the media..fox included. They know if he is too visible, this time timberflake will have to acknowledge where he got his 'ideas about music' & his moves! Yes, they'll have to deal with the tributes to MJ by other musicians based on his musical accomplishments, but also their expressions of support to him regarding all of the obvious political persecution! His situation speaks to the purely 'traditional' brand of American racism both he & African American celebs in this county have & continue to endure... over the past 50 years.

For the record, Dick Clark always considered his American Music Awards to be the alternative to the Grammys' well-whitewashed acknowledgement of music.

Ok - According to a more credible source, Access Hollywood (tv show) said that MJ will NOT appear at the ceremony.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

The only reason why Friedman is writing nice things about MJ and saying they are rooting foor him is so in 3 days time he can write something like "MJ wasn't up to it, my sources say he can't dance anymore, he was full of anxiety and nerves" yada yada yada.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Reasons I believe Ken Ulrich would deny an MJ performance to Extra:

1. Would it be a surprise performance if Ken were to say "yeah actually, Michael's scheduled to perform on Sunday"? No.

2. MJ is known for backing out of performances at the last minute. Ken, therefore, would not be able to say Michael is performing, because if MJ were to infact back out close to the night, Ken would be accused of lying about an MJ performance.

Hence, by Ken saying that Michael Jackson isn't scheduled to perform at the Grammys, he 1. Won't be held liable for spreading a false statement if MJ were to back out, and, 2. MJ and Ken will have been successful is staging a surprise performance that no-one would have otherwise expected.

That's my theory. Just thinking out loud.

Wow, how can MJ not attend an all-star tribute to him? lol

That's weird...

Did they happen to mention who their source was?

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Kinda sad but kinda knew he wouldn't show....but at least he can see it from his home.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Oh my gawd!! Why did the commercial change now?!! It left out Michael's tribute!! lol I just saw the commercial yesterday and it said an all star tribute to Michael's 25th anniversary of Thriller and then I just saw it again like two minutes ago and they left that part out!

Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!

Man, I hope they didn't pull everything MJ-related off the show.

somehow I don't think that's gonna happen considering it's 25 anniv. of Thriller, Quincy Jones is the Grammys Host, They're showing Pepsi Life Water ads during the ad breaks and they've already planned a tribute at minimum.

Agrees. :flowers:

That's GOT to be the only logical explanation for the report I just read. It reminds me of that movie Poltergeist. NO ONE LOOK INTO THE LIGHT!! STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT! It's gotta be a set up.

Makes complete sense to me if someone really wanted something to be a surprise. But then again, he really just may not show up. :p I think we'll be sitting on the edges of our seats right up until the tribute is over, or some kind of video speech is shown, or the credits of the show start to roll.

Can't wait for the show to air. The tribute in itself should be interesting. ^_^

*screeeeeech* Say what?

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Man, I hope they didn't pull everything MJ-related off the show.

Knowing how artists are dropping out or doing different things around it (Mary J. supposedly dropping out, Amy performing on satellite, a "surprise" performance that I'm thinking is another FAMOUS Jackson - you know who and it's not Jermaine - and not MJ), I wouldn't be surprised.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

I wouldn't be mad if they pull that tribute actually. If he doesn't show up, what's the point?

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Aww i'm spewing! i really hope he makes it :(.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Jermaine? Who's that again? lol. Oh yeah, like on Larry King "Michael Jackson's brother." lol.

I think Tito is more famous, just as the sheer butt of jokes relating to "the other brothers", lol.

Re: MJ @ Grammys....Will He or Won't He, Part II Extra says NO

Btw Michael never opens any show so it can't be Michael.. But what if Michael suprised the surprise performer, that would be cool..

Actually, Michael opened the 1995 MTV VMA show where he performed a 12 minute opening medley, got his Scream award with Janet and left with Lisa Marie.

Well, er, I don't think it's gonna be a brother and no, it's not the two elder sisters (why would they show up, lol) and no it's not Joe, Katherine, Stoney, Jesse, Freddie, Millie, or any of those Jacksons thought I have a hint it's a Jackson with the initials J.D.J.

But you didn't hear that from me, ya dig?

Yeah & besides ownership of the Beatles, much of America, (including the Grammy committee) hasn't 'forgiven' :rolleyes:him for this, either!

But I knew he would perform that year. That was the year most of us didn't have the internet, remember?

People got excited when...that dude...said that Mike would be performing. Come on now... he says the truth about some things but when it comes to Michael and professional/financial matters, he's a joke.

No, they did not mention the source at all. The man (name Jamal) just reported the news.

No Michael Jackson Performance At Grammys

Reports that Michael Jackson will stage a comeback at this weekend's Grammy Awards are apparently incorrect, with the the Executive Producer of the show dismissing the rumors as speculation.

With the 25th anniversary of Jackson's legendary album 'Thriller' falling this weekend, pundits were anticipating a performance from the King of Pop to relaunch his career leading up to an album of new material later this year.

However, Executive Producer of the Grammy Awards, Ken Ehrlich, has denied the reports, telling TV's 'Extra' that Jackson will not be taking the stage this Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Ken Ehrlich's video denial on EXTRA seemed very pure and authentic to me. It was an affirmative: "No, Michael Jackson won't be performing." Fans still sincerely believing that he will be performing even after the executive producer of the GRAMMYs has denied it are only setting themselves up for disappointment. Of course, we can all remain hopeful ;)

Paul McCartney is not expected to attend the Beatles tribute either... How weird.

There has been at least half a dozen different GRAMMY commercials now, only one of which ever mentioned the Thriller tribute. It could very well just be a matter of fitting in additional performers and the Thriller promotion got chopped off from the teaser. The latest one reads:

"Sunday is GRAMMY night. With Rhianna, Carrie Underwood, Prince, Alicia Keys, A Beatles Tribute, Miley Cyrus, John Legend, Fergie, Beyonce, Cher, Tina Turner, Nelly Furtado. That's just the first hour. And, don't you dare miss the surprise opening performance at the GRAMMYs. Live, CBS Sunday."

There's gonna be a lot of performers this year
