defo not. you dont have to be like that if u have the facts to back up your case. you dont need to be rude etc etc. mez was a ledgend at cross. as polite as they come.

think he was trying to say u have testifyed in alot of malpractices cases but not criminal ones. so trying to knock down his statement about not charging fees
 
exactly elusive. chernoff's rude behavior just shows that he doesn't have anything else to back up his bold claims of Murray not being responsible for Michael's death.
Brazil looked pissed for sure, she should slap the ish out of him during his break imo (wishful thinking)
 
I am reading along. Thank you. Did the lawyer actually say to the doctor he didn't understand anything he said in the last 2 days? That's insulting and I have no medical background and I understood. If he is rude I hope the jury sees that.

Yeah that's what he said! He also nearly referred to him as just 'Shafer', and then quickly added 'Dr' on to it.

He says things like that so that the jury can relate to him (assuming that the jury finds expert's testimony complicated and confusing). It's theatrics.

Unbelievable. but base on his questions, I can see he is actually telling the truth.
Oh God. Chednoff is so annoying. I don't understand what's the point of his questions.

I remember someone saying in InSession that the fact that he isn't being paid could be used against him. One the lawyers, who's husband happens to be doctors, feels that it could be use to make it look like Shefer has a personal or invested grudge against Murray and therefore can make him bias. Given Shefer's attitude and professionalism, however, I doubt the jury will see it this way.

yes thats where chernoff was going because he asked shaffer if he didnt like dr katz who was involved in that case he told walgren about as to why he doesnt charge anymore. shaffer said he didnt like him which wasnt the best answer .

anyone see the bit were chernoff intentionally interrupted shaffer in midstream and then apologised. brazil turned to walgren and rolled her eyes. talk about how obvious was that bit of gamesmanship. i bet they will all be glad when chernoff goes back to houston
 
Dr Shafer is doing well despite chernoff's rudeness.He doesnt know murray so why should the jurors feel he hates him.
 
Why do they have to be so rude? I understand they have a job to do but still. Is that how they will be to their own witnesses too?

Yes, I don´t understand that either. Being rude and disrespectful towards the witnesses all the time will not help their case anyway.
 
I feel very uncomfortable watching Chernoff cross-examining. He's so rude! I'm sure the jury must see it that way too.

Chernoff is trying to do the same regarding his relationship with Dr. White (whether his student or not, whether he knew White's position in relation to Murray's case...).
 
is it just me or is anyone else having problems with this thread? I keep loosing connection or it won't reload properly.

As for Shafer not charging didn't he testify the reason he stopped was because in another case when he did they suggested he was getting something out of it by charging so he stopped...as he didn't want people to think he was doing it for the money....in legal cases it doesn't matter lawyers will always try to make something out of it.

Just have to hope Jury has some sense and will see what a good witness he and he other experts were and how credible their evidence was.
 
It's just how Chernoff is I suppose. It's not neccessary for them to behave in such a manner in order to get information from the witness, I suppose he's just trying his best to intimidate and confuse Dr Shafer. He's definitely made himself seem pretty unprofessional at times today though, and I think the jury will see that. I personally can't see Walgren acting in a similar manner when he cross examines the Defence witnesses but that's just me.
 
I think Chernoff is going to "try" to use that paper against Shafer in some way to discredit his credibility. I think that going to backfire on him
 
are they going through his CV? did i hear correct?
