Ja, I hear what you're saying about snakes, but there are plenty of places in the good Book which references snakes in a whole different light.
Take a look at Exodus 4:1 - 5 - where Moses takes a rod turns it into a serpent and then back into a rod upon God's command.
Also, take a look at Numbers 21:3-9, where it talks of a BRONZE METAL SERPENT Moses used on a pole to save the Israelites. I think Mike's iconography here with the metal serpent is quite Biblical indeed.[/b]
And if you really want to over analyze these pics with Mike, I think it is rather symbolic that Mike is wearing a METAL serpent to show the world that he "survived" the bite from the snake (ala accusers from 1993 and 2003) just like Moses gave life to anyone who was bit by the snake in the Bible by having them look upon his metal serpent.
