Well.... we don't really know who he 'dated'.. aside from Lisa! at least that comes to mind.. We don't know the real details of relationships mentioned.

Michael obviously loved Diana Ross as much more then just a friend/mentor.
I think that out of any/all of the romances in his life that he loved Diana the most and even viewed her as the one that got away.

The age difference was rather larger to me, so IDK how I would have felt had they got together, but Michael didn't seem to care about the age difference.
