The BAD album apprecation

BAD is simply brilliant. A masterpiece. My favourite song being Smooth Criminal.

"Dirty Diana" is brilliant. The atmosphere in that song is incredible and is a classic example of Michael's ability to emote with music. Not to mention his vocals are stunning. He sings rock as good as any rock singer.

I really agree with you. I just got done watching the video and MJ is so amazing. This song shows how he can step out the box with his music. He can do R&B, Soul, Pop, and Rock.

I think dirty diana is by far the greatest song ever.

Bad was and still is a better Album then Thriller

there I said it

^^^agreed!!! :punk: Bad rocks!!!! :punk: Bad album all the way!!! :punk:

I also think that BAD is better than Thriller. Infact i'd reach for BAD, Dangerous and Off The Wall before i'd reach for Thriller

I prefer Bad to Thriller, but of course, Thriller is good also.

My favourites from Bad are Another Part of Me, Speed Demon, Liberian Girl and Leave Me Alone.

Let me just say that i also think that Smooth Criminal is a better video than Thriller

Has anyone seen the iTunes review of BAD? I am not sure is it an Irish review because I am in Ireland or an official worldwide review, but the official reviewer said "Man in The Mirror and Dirty Diana are Michael Jackson at his worst". I think anyone who says that MITM and DD are Michael at his worst are totally cracked up up! What were they listening to? :p BAD is my favourite album ever. I think people who say that BAD followed the Thriller pattern are not correct at all. There are some unique songs on there, Man in the Mirror is the first I knew of it's kind and I think it is fabulous. I love Smooth Criminal, never have and never will find another song like it. I think Just Good Friends is a totally underrated song as well!

I know, the review on iTunes is complete bogus! They said dirty Diana was "misogynistic", and then when they were talking about Leave Me Alone, said it was "wierdly claustrophobic" and "paranoid." Also, they wrote that tracks 3-6, from Speed Demon to Another Part of Me, were bad and "utterly faceless." I guess it doesn't matter, because anyone who listens to Bad will know right away that the reviewer is completely wrong, but I still wish iTunes would write a less biased review of the album. They even went as far as to say that some of the songs on Bad are "evident proof that Jackson was losing touch."

Bad is my favorite album too, I agree with all of you that Dirty Diana is an amazing song. I love Man in the Mirror, and as well Bad, Speed Demon, Another Part of Me, and the Way You Make Me Feel.

I always thought BAD was a much better album than Thriller. Don't get me wrong Thriller is a masterpiece and I really like it but I think on BAD MJ took everything up a notch, you could tell he had gotten even more ambitious with his compositions and was growing as a songwriter. Pretty much all the songs he wrote on that album are stellar and were and still are completely different to anything else, they each give off their own unique vibe. Liberian Girl is magical, no one else could come up with a song like that.

My favorite songs fom the Bad album are Another Part of Me and Dirty Diana. I think he mixed rock and r&b very well in Dirty Diana. His voice can go with many diferent types of music.

Bad sounds very '80s, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's one of my favorite albums, too, and I would rank it higher than Thriller. It has a lot of amazing tracks on it. :)

I'm bringing this thread back. We all need to appeciate the brilliance that is Bad

I would love to see MJ and Stevie Wonder perform Just Good Friends live. Would be awesome

"Bad" is my favorite album, along with "History". People say "Bad" sound's dated, but it's only the instruments that sound dated, the compositions themselves remain unique and distinct in style and sound and astmosphere to Michael and Michael alone. I've never heard music that sound's like the songs on "Bad".

Brilliant album!!!!! I call it the manifistation of Pop, MJ moved from being a simple soul brother to doing music that cant be trapped within the confines of genres. Smooth Criminal is the poster boy for my statement!!

I agree with everything you just said. You are right that the sounds are very 80's, I guess.....but nonetheless, the way the music was written, and the composing, and the arranging are all ahead of their time. I have a hard time saying which one of his albums I like best.......but in my book, Bad ranks higher than Thriller. He had more top 10 hits on Bad, if I am not mistaken. I wish it got more Grammies than it did though.

Some people say that he lost it after he released Bad, which is completly untrue, but apart from that, Bad is a great crowd pleaser. If he hadn't of created the songs "The Way You Make Me Feel" or "Smooth Criminal".....I dont know what would have happened to his career. Many younger generations ONLY know Michael Jackson by songs from the Bad album thanks to movies like Center Stage and other things.

I truly believe Bad was the best follow-up from Thriller he could have done.

It was for sure Ivory. "Bad" had I think 6 number ones singles, and that's still a record for the most number ones off of any album ever. The compositions remain unique. I've never heard songs like "APOM", "Smooth Criminal", "Leave Me Alone", "Bad", "Liberian Girl", "Speed Demon", etc... It's just genius. It doesn't get the kind of appreciation it should, probably because it can't be classified as R&B, but whatever... And like I said, the only thing that's dated is the instruments used, the songs themselves, the arrangements and the actual composition will never be dated, because it's unique.

I rarely listen to Bad, since it's not a standout IMO. But still, it's really fine album!

Ironically enough............I dont actually own the CD. It's the only one i don't have. I have all the songs though, thanks to file sharing (dont yell at me, I eventually pay for all the songs I stole)......but, yeah....I should get on that! LOL!

Frankly, I really like the whole 80's sound so I love Bad. It's not my favourite MJ album (but then again that changes all the time!) but any album with Liberian Girl and Dirty Diana together would definitely get the thumbs up from me.

80's was a cool decade!
