The Fake Fans Are Killing Me!!!

Unfortunately MANY people will be forgetting about Michael Jackson SOON.

They were interested in Michael only becoz he was "in" after his death.

But that will not last so much and those people will forget about him again...

Unfortunately I am lonely in many places for being a MJ fan yes, even now he is still "in" becoz he died...

That will not last, Twilight thing, such stuff, is now the thing of the moment, teenagers rules the world.

I am old, my things are gone.
Michael Jackson died and so my biggest idol when I was a teen, it finished my youth.

Don't worry, Mike is a still a frikken legend, he will never be forgotten.:better:Nobody forgets a legend, Michael has talent, and Talented people last a long time.

These fake fans bug me as well...

They didnt defend him before (esp. during the trial) and some are even dissing him now but became 'fans' because it is cool now.
They may have liked him in the 80's when they are older but they didnt bother listening the last 15 years, to me that is not a real fan (i would rather call them people who appreciate the music, but not fans).

I'll just wait it out, the ones that are still into Michael 1 or 2 years from now are the real (new) fans.

I dont mind them, i really dotn....its just hard to make out who's real and who's just a follower at this time.

I hate it. I hate it how everyone loves him now that it's fashionable. I used to have to tell the DJs in clubs that it was my birthday to get them to play an MJ song and now they always play several of his songs, and he's all over the radio. I don't even remember hearing him on the radio AT ALL since I became a fan 6 years ago. Until he died.
I'm glad that it's clear his music will never die and that he is loved the world over. But damn. It sure wasn't clear before June 25th. And that's messed up.

a "fake" fan actually came along with us. And she was giggling through the film. She was 22 years old. And was dating my younger buddy. I didn't say anything but I remember I was like "what the?" lol...

Like why go and see a film if you know you're not into it?

Well at least they are giving money to Michael's estate :p

The two times i watched, these disgusting people were in their homes, chingandole la vida a alguien más!, that's why im going from now on to the last screening of the day.

I REALLY hate those people with no respect!, not just at Michael, but to us, the people WHO WANT TO SE THE MOVIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!. Make me so angry!.

Well, don`t kill me but I am a newer fan of Michael. I always loved his music, I still can remember how I first saw Thriller ( and how scared I was, I was only 6 then, hihi), I knew almost all of his songs, I also never belived any mean things about him, but I didn`t take the time to get to know him better as a person, until 5 months ago.
When he went to the other side it broke my heart and I couldn`t explain to myself why. I was really depressed. He and his music were always there and I felt like I lost a part of my childhood. I felt sooo guilty and sad and like the biggest hypocrite because I lost 26 years without knowing what a good human being he was. You are all so lucky, he was in your lives filing them with love and I am sorry and sad for every minute I lost. because I think that one thing is to love his music, what I always did, and the other thing is to love Michael for what he is, if you know what I mean.

Well, if nothing else, 1/2 of my friends now think that I am crazy and make fun of me, also my parents...
And here it is not the newest fashion to love Michael, here all people are crazy about Twilight and nobody about MJ... I went to see the movie 3 times and the second time we were only 5 people there, that makes me sad... and the other two times a lot of people made fun of him, I really don`t know why they go to see the film if they don`t like him or at least they don`t like his music.

:)I have not met such fans before, but there is no applause,I felt really lonely, i prefer to to with more other fans...

Who cares about them, people who follow trends are like sheep, they don't have a mind of their own. Michael's fanbase has held throughout the years becuase the real true fans have always been there for him. That will not change. If they cannot understand Michael's message or talent after this movie, then there's no hope for them......

Hello Varja! Your story sounds kind of like mine. I was a big fan around Thriller but later didn't follow Michael's career that much, except watched videos on MTV etc. I didn't think he was guilty of anything, though it was rather weird to follow the second case. I was so releaved he was found innocent. Justice was served! Michael's death hit me harder than I'd expected & thus I found my way here. I intend to stay. I've discovered a whole lot of things about Michael as a man and as an artist too. There's still much to learn. I missed out on too much but I can't blame anyone but myself. I smiled when I read about you having been scared of the Thriller video. I remember watching the thriller video and my nephew, who was about four, watched too. He climbed onto his father's lap and said: "I'm not scared. I'm not scared." Awww...

I don't know any MJ fans locally either. It's lonely (or would be without this place and the Internet) but at least I don't come across any pretender fans either. When we went to see This Is It (me & hubby), there were only some thirty people at the second screening that evening (the opening night). Nobody laughed, some spoke a bit or rustled candy papers but I didn't mind that. The movie already left the local cinema, I think it stayed for three weeks. So, it wasn't a big hit here but at least the local cinema decided to screen it, a decision which I applaud.

Yes KayHey, we have similar stories. :) And you are right, we can blame only ourselves, but we have now a lifetime to make it better and to spread what Michael was really like.

Actually I don`t know any fake fans, the ones that I know that never liked Michael Jackson still don`t like him, some are really happy that he is gone.

Varja, I can relate to you. I didn't know how amazing Michael was until after the world lost him. I feel like I got given a gift and yet it was taken away before I realized it was there. But don't feel bad... hugs.

That's right! There's so much to learn and catch up on. It's interesting how one's tastes change too. I drifted away after Bad as at the time I thought the new tougher image didn't suit Michael and I gradually lost interest. Michael was somewhere on the background still but other bands (mainly U2, I'm still their fan) and life in general got in the way. Now in hindsight I think the Bad era was so fantastic! Where was my head at all those years ago?! I could have actually celebrated that era in real time had I stuck around but no... Was I nuts or what? :banghead

I hear what you are saying too, Bubbyduck!

It does bother me a little though, when I see that most of the older fans in this board have left.

A few have expressed it's because of all the new members or because people are disrespectful...that being said some can't help that they just found this place. I understand if some are uncomfortable with all the new members but we older members have to stay around to show the newer ones the way.

It's part of the reason why MJJC wasn't as it was, we are all grieving so emotions are all over the place, the older members aren't here to fill some on what they missed out on. We'll get back to a great place we just have to help each other out.

I went off topic a bit huh? I just wish some of the older members would come back.

New fans don't bother me. It's the fake ones who made fun of him and only like him because it is the in thing (which was actually the point of this thread) that do.

Also the ones who made fun of him and such before he died but are fans now. I'm working on it.

Will this board be less chaotic within a year? Probably. Will the fake fans forget? Yes. The real fans will still be here a year or more from now and that's what counts.

Very well said. I have just been refered to this forum by other MJ fan friend and I like it very much. However, there is still this "new fan / old fan" thing that bothers me. Maybe there are more active fans than others, fans who have been longer at forums and yes, for sure it must be annying for those to read someone like me that has just entered the forum when we make mistakes or break some of the rules. We have to learn a lot about "Forum netiquette" :)

Some days ago I went to see TII and it was just me at the theather. Then arrived a family. That was fine, they liked the songs, but while the J5 medley, when MJ says he is going to thank his family and named them.... one of these people asked? "And who are those?"

....

Maybe they were not fans, just a family wanting to see MJ for who he is, so it's ok, but anyway, I felt sorry for them. They can see the movie, sure, but they can't feel a bit of what MJ fans loving the man for so long do feel. And althought we are currently at the deepest pain, what MJ has given us over the years is just too much to be forgotten.

Your point is right: only time will tell.

Yeah, I have no problem with new fans. It's only the fake posers that bother me.

I actually knew one of the fake fans. She just really wasn't a good person at all and that's why I don't talk to her anymore, but right after MJ's passing, she all of the sudden pretended she was this huge fan and acted like I was suddenly her best friend in the world when all she used to do is talk s**t about him and say mean, disgusting things about him before. I mean, if you're a new fan than that's fine, but don't go around pretending you've been a hardcore fan for years when you were one of the ones who disrespected him and talked crap about him during hard times.

It was totally obvious too. As soon as everyone else jumped on the MJ bandwagon, she all of the sudden wanted to talk to me like I was her best friend when previously she had been blowing me off and ignoring me for months. She was going around telling people she was some huge fan when she basically didn't know of anything he had done after the Bad era, She didn't even know he was planning the TII concerts. She also wanted to believe that MJ was some kind of hardcore drug addict and basically just made assumptions about all kinds of things without bothering to do any research.

You should've seen her and her mom, they were the types that were buying stuff on eBay and reselling it for 3x more than they paid, and they went around to every store and bought up every common MJ CD and sold them for 3x the price on eBay. It's ridiculous for someone to have to pay $30.00 or more for a common CD that you could've bought at any store for $10 just because of greedy bastards like them. She kept bugging me to burn her copies of all of his albums, even though she had been hoarding all of the CDs from stores so she could resell them.

In my opinion there's a difference between new fans and fake fans( every fanbase has them, and It is really bad in the American Idol fandom, where 50% or more fans of one idol will move to the next idol the next year forgetting that the previous Idol ever existed). New fans are the people who just woke up to the greatness that is Michael. Bandwagon or Fake fans are the one that only like Michael Jackson because he's in. I embrace new fans, but the ones who made fun of him while he was alive and then said that they were glad that the guy was dead and then jump on the bandwagon, are the ones I don't like. And if there are still people after Christmas that are still fans, then those in my opinion are the new fans that are here too stay since bandwagon fans of anyone usually stay for 5 or 6 months.:2cents:

I hope the older members dont think that everyone that joined after June09 are fake fans. There`s one thing common in all fans which is humbleness. I have cried myself to bed for serveral weeks and months..Last night i was thinking about all the members here and how I may never meet them in person. It made me sad, it really did. Everytime i miss michael, i think that i am not alone becuase there is an MJJC member that feels the same way as i do, and its comforting knowing that your not alone in this.

there are also older members that forgot what their account was and had make another after june ... joining date says nothing about how new a certain fan is ...it's the way they act that gives them away...true fans...we know each other even if we never spoke. there's a kind of telepathy that goes on .... michael magic ;)

agree with all above posts.

Yeah, bandwagon fans stay for about half a year. And there's another type of fans-
"short-term enthusiasm" fans who stay for about 2 years. Some fans are just having crush on their idols and that normally lasted for the longest time of about 2 years. SO, if fans can pass the 2 years mark, they can kind of like go to the next level and they will remain a long time fan.

i believe 18+ fans are "hopeless" :D caught for life :D

Hugs, me too.

i think is not a matter of be a good fan or not, it´s a matter of respect!!
i understand that MJ is a controversial person, but people must show respect to people who love him.
Thiose persons who say those horrible things only knows of him the things that say press.

I couldn't agree more. :)

I roared at two guys talking beside me and laughing uncontrollably when Michael showed his quirky side, and there was deathly silence for like 20 minutes... meh, I'd do it again! It was my 6th showing so it was more so out of respect for Michael I did it.

Bandwagoners are the worst omg. Im a die hard Indiana Jones fan to and when I saw Kingdom of The Crystal Skull every idiot was there saying they were an Indy fan than two days later they bagged on it. When I saw TII I came in full Billie Jean gear and people just laughed at me and wouldnt shut up during the movie some more kept yelling " Jamon!" "Ehhhhhhhh heeeeee" really loud.

and I hate on youtube now every MJ video people are like ohhhhhhh he is the best (which yes that is true) but when you look at later comments from like a year ago there like "he is a pedo" or "hahaha his nose is fake"

Fake fans are the worst

Edit: I felt bad for ranting about fake fans so I took it off. I left the last part because it might help someone in some way. The negative stuff only fuels anger.

I feel that if someone pretends to be a fan for years when they haven't they take something away from long time fans and I think that's what some of the lifers here might be feeling. I can understand how some older fans on this forum could get annoyed with us newbies and might feel like we haven't "earned our long-time MJ badges" but I think over time when the crazy emotions relax a bit and when some of the newbies stick around, they, or should I say we, will be the ones who earned our badges to the people who have been here a long time and made this forum what it was before we came along and shook everything up. We will get back to the way it should be over time.

Reading your posts, I guess I was lucky. I watched TII four times, and never had any trouble of this kind. Silence, respect and comotion took place in all sessions. But if something like this had happened, it certainly would bother me greatly. Watching TII was a very important moment to me.
I´m a new fan myself. And I really regret that I only discovered Michael after he passed away. But I´m sticking with him for always. He has touched my heart really late... but did it for good.
