I was just thinking if in the year 2012, Michael Jackson did a 25th anniversary edition of "Bad"? Here's what I think he should do.

He should definitely release some unreleased "Bad" era songs. Or, since, according to Qunicy Jones, he wrote 33 songs for that one album, maybe he can newly record a song he wrote back then and put on the Bad 25th anniversary album. Maybe he could put "Hot Street" or "Nightline" in good quality (considering that "For All Time", whether or not that was a Thriller outtake is in dispute). Or even the song, "She's Trouble".

Then, for the DVD, it should be a a never before seen concert from the second leg of the Bad Tour (the one with 7 Bad songs as opposed to 2 from the first leg).

What do you all think?

I would love him to do that. His other albums don't get enough credit ever. I think "Bad" is his best album along with "History" and I would love to see it get more attention. But since people are so fixated on sales, it won't happen. He should get recognition for his other artistic achievements, as I think they trump "Thriller". People forget that at one point, "Bad" was the second biggest selling album of all time and it would have been number one if it weren't for "Thriller".

I also think he should release "I just Can't Stop Loving You" with the original spoken intro as well as the French version in CD quality.

Nope. I don't want MJ to keep living in the past.

"Bad" was a distant second biggest selling album of all time. IMO, the Bad album wasn't all that great. Too many fillers (the Stevie Wonder duet could of been soooo much better).

i would love it.i was actually thinking the same thing today.i would love if he stripped the 80's synthesizers off the tracks.paul mc'cartney done something like that a few years ago with 'let it be' he stripped alot of the instrumentation back off the tracks for an alternative version.
if he released it with bad tour 88 it would be a massive seller.that was the biggest world tour of the 80's & the biggest tour of a solo performer before michael broke his own record twice.

A Bad tour DVD, now thats something worthy of release. In fact, forget about later how about now!! lol That and Destiny, Triumph, and Victory. HIStory, blah. :)

No, thats not true. That was Janet's Rhythm Nation tour.

Well that YOUR opinion and I'm not forcing mine on anyone, so I don't know why you decided to take issue with my post. It wasn't that distant at the time, considering "Thriller" had been out for 5 years at that point and had sold about 45 million and "Bad" was at 20 + million by the early 90s. "Bad" was filled with some of the best songs I've ever heard. How you could call it filler is beyond me, what with how creative the tracks were. I've never heard any sound like that before, it was distinct to Michael through and through and showed his musical genius.

I don't think there will be Bad 25 or Dangerous 25..They are some of the biggest selling albums in the world but not like Thriller which is kinda above all other albums.

Janet's Rhythm Nation tour was NOT the biggest tour of the 80's lol, please. What it does hold is the record for being the highest grossing DEBUT tour by any artist, but the "Bad Tour" was the biggest tour in history by a solo artist at the time so Azza is correct.

"Bad" was the biggest tour at the time. Then he broke that record with the "Dangerous" tour, which was cut short, and he broke that tour again with the "History" tour.

totally agree!!!!!! Bad is an incredible album...................and YES PLEASE to a Bad anniversary addition with an 88 tour dvd to go with it.....:):)

The album "Bad" has aged horribly. It's one of the most dated sounding albums ever. I do like the album though, it used to be my favorite but I don't think it's his best.

All anyone ever says when they want to diss "Bad" is that it sounds dated. Well it only sounds that way because it used a lot of synthasizers. But the SONGS themselves are brilliant and unlike anything I've ever heard. I don't care about the instruments used, the compositions are unique and creatively, the songs are some of his best ever.

yep especially dirty diana and smooth criminal...............amazing songs...........those songs are forever

Well it does sound dated so I don't know why that would make anyone upset. Fact of the matter is that "Bad" is a good album but overall I just don't think it's his best. There's not one song on there that's as good as say "Billie Jean" or "Stranger In Moscow". Still a solid album though that I enjoy listening to from time to time.

Thank you. The BAD tour was the best selling tour of that DECADE! To even compare it to Janet's tour from that time is an insult. The Bad tour was amazing.

really? frank dileo said in 88 michael played to more people across the world in more countrys than anyother artist at the time.

Exactly. I find it weird that the poster was trying to put Janet into something that had nothing to do with MJ.

Bad does sound dated but it was MJ most personal CD, imo. I liked what tdude814 said about the 25th Anniversary of Bad. I love the idea.

That's what I say. "Dirty Diana", "Smooth Criminal", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Liberian Girl", "Another Part of Me", "Leave Me Alone", "Speed Demon", etc... are all brilliant tracks. If denis was here he could explain musically why the songs are as progressive as they are. It's progressive funk at it's finest, imo. I think "Smooth Criminal" and "Dirty Diana" and "Leave Me Alone" can easily be put in to a catagory with "Billie Jean" and "SIM". Musically speaking, those songs have a totally distinctive sound and flavor and create amazing atmophere.

Rhythm Nation grossed $68-70 million while the Bad Tour grossed $125 million lol so do the math.

its my favorite over all era.the album, the tour, moonwalker, the grammys, the image, the pepsi adds, vinyl was still there, mtv was still good (it was almost always mj weekend lol)& the videos where amazing.bad, the way you make me feel, smooth criminal, dirty diana are just visual masterpiece videos.what an era!

The "Bad" video was also just killer. I thought Michael's acting in that was genuninely very good, his dancing was out of this world and just the whole concept behind it was brilliant. The dance sequence being all a part of his imagination.

yeah ,ive dont the math & it checks out.

moonwalker-mint! saw it in a theater:) im gonna watch it tonight as a warm up for the grammys.

smooth criminal-what can you say,its just so so right! it still one of his finest ever videos.

Id prefer Off the wall over Bad

I think younger artist like Chris Brown, JT, Usher are more influenced by the Off The wall style MJ then Bad

I agree :) and I also think OTW is his best album. That's when MJ was at his funkiest for sure. That album also has his best dance songs.

Well it's all opinion. All of his albums are excellent. I happen to think the songs on "Bad" are a lot more creative and advanced then anything on "OTW". I think it was when Michael really grew into his own as a song writer and was able to create a unique sound and flavor.

Thriller 25 is a cool way to subtly get himself back out there and also honor the biggest album in the world, but doing something similar in the future for his other albums? No thank you. I love BAD, but it's not a question of whether or not it's great music. It's a matter of Thriller being the biggest, and it's a matter of MJ needing to do new things from this point forward.
