Will there be a Bad 25?

There was no Off The Wall (what I'd consider his first album post-Jackson5/youngMichael phase) 25 but that's probably because he hadn't thought of it and Thriller was his defining album. Bad had a lot of hits on it too though. I'd just be happy for something to geek out over

lol...this is kinda wild...i remember seeing a thread on another forum, where half the people were against him rereleasing anything, when the plans for releasing t25 were in the works. now, with the advent of the results..people are requesting him to continue his record for the most rereleases of any artist.:lol:

what happened to the hope for new music? lol not saying you people were amongst the naysayers for t25..but i'm just saying the reactions i'm seeing are like night and day:lol:
 
Good question, but I think that Thriller really was a break-through not only just for Michael, yet for all other black artists and the position and direction of pop culture/music in the earily 80's. Everything was being done over and over again, it was as if no one had any fresh ideas. Every video was the same, abstract shapes, colours, tacky costumes etc. Then BOOM, along came the video's of 'Billie Jean,' 'Beat It,' and these were seen as minnie movies from Michael and the rest of the viewing public did to.

Who knows though, there could be a celebration for 'Bad,' or 'Dangerous.' I guess we'll have to wait and see what other suprises Mike has in store.

I only had MP3s other than an Old History/BOTD/Invincible CD.. so it's nice to just have a real copy and a collectable.

well then..here's hoping you show up to tell someone what time it is, if they think the next MJ idea is a bad idea. lol...cus i have nothing against MJ rereleasing classics..or coming out with new music. evidence(like you) suggests that either way, it's a good idea:yes:
 
Actually, another thing, I really liked the idea of the music videos.

I would have seriously geeked out and bought the Visionaries had it come out here.
 
Nope. "Thriller" was the only album in which a 25th anniversary release was actually valid. Releasing anniversaries of post-"Thriller" albums sound odd.
 
wouldnt think so. bad had little or no impact apart from its tour. sure, there were record #1 singles, amazing videos, all that... but it didnt win awards and its not something people look back on and go "wow omg bad is my fave album of all time bla bla bla" .. off the wall and thriller are the only 2 that get that reaction... and there was no celebration for off the wall so bad basically has no chance.

so in short NO i dont think there is a slight chance

if sony wants more money, like in the past with all the unnecessarily greatest hits, and multiple editions of album-covers. sure they will. 100%

If THRILLER is re-released tha's beacuse its the biggest album of all time and its his anniversary as the biggest album of all time , it wouldn't be credible if Bad or dangerous are re-released ,because of what ? yes the sales were very high but were not the highest sales (Bodyguard or example had the sales than Dangerous and Bad ).

Is it me or all the fans have not understood why THRILLER 25th ANNIVERSARY is celebrated ? don't get me wrong its only a question .
 
The Off The Wall album is 30yrs old next year, so I wouldn't be surprised it that gets a 30th Anniversary Edition. It deserves one because it launched Michael Jackson's career and a dominant and independent artist in music.

I would say it launched his ADULT solo career, he has had a career nearly 40 years now but OTW brought him to a whole different place adult wise from his brothers, he'd had his first solo album at age 13, a total of four of them at Motown. Now if SONY does a OTW 30 i would totally be excited about that, that album made me a fan for life when i was a kid.
 
If MJ is serious about a new album he cant continue dishing out anniversary stuff. Thriller25 was an amazing idea, but it stops here. Thriller holds all the records and is remix friendly. Forget about OTW 30 and Bad 25, and if they happen i guarantee we never see a NEW mj album. Its retirement and anniversaries, or a serious attempt at new stuff. One or the other.
 
No I wouldn't like a re-release of any other album. Only Thriller coz it's the best-selling album of all time. Let's have a release of some NEW music.

Your jumping the gun a bit. No matter if Michael had a new album out or not, it's only logical that Thriller25 would be released considering how much of effect it's had on popular culture. I've been expecting a 25th Anniversary Edition of Thriller for quite a few years. I'm also expecting a 30th Anniversary Edition of Off The Wall. It's not the point of it been a good idea, it's a point of celebrating brilliant and innovative music that changed the scope of pop music.

No one in particular, but a number fans are being too impaciant waiting for Michael's new album. Sure it's been almost a whole decade since Invincible was released, but Michael's had a very tough decade and now finally happy and relaxed again. The new album will come, and Thriller25 isn't a replacement or a distraction from Michael releasing a new album. If it was a replacement for a new album, I'm sure Michael would have performed some Thriller songs at the Grammy Awards etc, or had set some rumored dates at the O2 in London to do a greatest hits show to promote Thriller. There is a lot more Michael could do to promote Thriller, which he hasn't done because I'm sure he's more interested in recorded his much awaited album. Unfortunatly Michael is a 2 album a decade artist, I'm use to it and other will have to learn to wait because we have no choice and Michael's not a machine.
 
i doubt there will be any others. its obvious why it was done with thriller. if its done with others imo it will be low key and not even known about outside of the community
 
There should at least be a special edition. "Bad" is such an amazing album and so underrated simply because it only sold 25 million instead of 50. Pff.

Michael can put out a new album with or without anniversary editions of his previous work. He did so when "Invincible" came out, Sony releasing special editions of ALL his adult solo racords. So I don't understand the sentiment that he couldn't do that again. Besides, stop worrying I say, Michael only put out "Thriller 25" because he wanted to test the waters before actually coming out with an album of all new material.

Good post. Michael's always been quality over quantity anyway. It's been less then 7 years since "Invincible" came out, and here's the thing, considering everything Michael went through between that release and now, he isn't behind schedual at all. I don't know why everyone is lising patience. It's been a hellish 7 years for Michael, to say the least.

Besides, at that point, by the time "Bad" reaches it's 25th year, Michael should have the rights to his masters back and he might want to capitalize on that.

I think that would be awesome..but honsetly i think some fans r sick of buying the old albums all the time!

I think he's celebrating it. Besides, why not recreate the most memorable piece of work you've ever had that changed the world and pop culture, (yet add some new taste to it), before you release something new. Thriller not only broke-down barriers, it was something that placed Michael in history. If he could allow today's generation to enjoy his past achievements, and then prepare them for what lays ahead with his next work, why not. That's smart business sense. He's basically saying, "Hey, this is who I am and what I've created, what I'm known for etc. Here's my new work."

The man knows his past successes, and how they can still affect a broad audience in today's generation. Plus, don't forget, the 80's is making a strong wave back in fashion and music. I think this 25 year celebration is right on time for Michael, and for us! ^_^
