Is this Really about MJ/Does fan age makes a difference MERGED

"I'm going to me you proud to be my fans again."

wannabestartin......Oh my goodness, Michael really said that? wow, that statement there is so telling.

Yep Ive kept repeating that too. And ever time i remember him saying that...it breaks my heart to see threads like that and the insults being thrown at MJ when something like the grammys don't work out.

He was like "I'll make you proud to be a fan of mine"

My take, it has to be the younger fans who are grossly trippin' out like its the end of the world, 'cause if its older fans, then Lord have mercy!!!

If you're any kind of MJ fan, you will have by now known how MJ works.....either you accept that or move the heck on!

"cause I can't stand having to read peoples negative posts all the time.....STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!!!!!

Exactly, and you know what? Most of these new artists that come out with a new album every year, end up sounding the same and become old very fast! Michael takes his time & comes back with music that lasts forever in people's minds & hearts! Trust him, he knows what he's doing! To repeat his words from 1-26-08 NRJ Awards: "There's MUCH MORE To Come From MICHAEL JACKSON!"

Yeah, he said that. They even showed that very clip on that Expose thing tonight. He said "I'll make you proud of me", it's just horrible that people put so much expectation on him and then spit on him when he fails them in their eyes, because from Michael's own words, that kind of rejection is the very thing he's afraid of and he tries so hard to make that not happen. He thinks the way is to work harder, and harder and harder, because that's all he's ever been shown.

Which is sooo sad! Michael I've always been proud of you & I always will be proud to be a fan of yours! :D

I think a lot of the age debate has to do with technology as well. Lets face it the younger generation have the older generation whipped in all this - everything is faster, at your finger tips and on demand. The older generation is used to waiting for things we had mail from the post office not email on the go. Thoughts travel so quickly online that they are already old news when someone changes their mind and by then it's too late the damage is done and they need someone to blame. If there wasn't this source of quick communication then decisions wouldn't be public before all the paperwork was done. People would be confirming in person or in writing not acrossed satelite dishes. The media feeds off of the tinyest scraps they can find and it doesn't do justice to those involved. Not to mention when Michael Jackson's name is thrown around people get excited and jump the gun. Michael's name reels people in so they will run off at the mouth before its cast in stone anyway.

I think Michael wants more but at the same time he has so much in his life and he's been though so much I question his drive. Then I realize I don't have a right to question it anyway. Regardless of anything I'll support Michael for everything he's given to me and for everything he has shared with this world making it more bearable for so many. Yes, sure I'm human I want to see Michael on stage again or in the charts or whatever else there is out there but I'm older I don't go chasing fantasies or think there should be more to the man that is Michael Jackson. Being older the human factor is far more present then when I was a younger fan. I have three children of my own and its very clear where enjoyment and work are, sometimes fans view Micheal as more than an entertainer but despite our ages we need to remember being "Micheal Jackson" is his job.

That is why my blood has been boiling as I have been reading these threads. The selfish entitlement displayed here is unbelievable and sad considering how much of his life Michael Jackson has dedicated to his fans. If he NEVER makes another number 1 this or biggest selling that, I could care less. Personally, I want him to be happy and successful personally as well as professionally.

I'm only 23, but I've been a fan of Mike since 1988 and I'm usually satisfied with everything he does. I wasn't really expecting much from the promotion of T25. I know I expressed my disappointment that the edition wasn't what I wanted but I understood at the end of the day that if that's what Mike wanted to do he could do it. Now that the Grammys have come and gone, people wanna pitch a bish because they supposedly lost sleep over thinking he was gonna be there when Access Hollywood pointed out he wasn't coming. I only feel sorry for them, not Michael. He wasn't expected to show up and he didn't. Big whoop.

How some over-react has nothing to do with Michael at all, or the ages of fans. It's an individual choice. It is most likely how they treat people in general. It doesn't necessarily have to be Michael. It can be anyone.

Also, if we really look at what was revealed after the period of waiting, the only thing we will notice is that Roger Friedman and Diane Dimond's so-called inside sources have been weeded out of Michael Jackson's life.

The moment of suspense revealed that Michael and his team has secured his camp. The people that were feeding Roger and Diane inside scoop are gone. That's not a bad thing. That's a good thing.

This is a great revelation...

i'm 25 and i think Michael did a good job not showing up at the Grammies.until he has a new song what would be the point?if he would go and do a little of an old song fans will say like at WMA that they expected more and are not happy with his performance...we should not rush him,we should trust him and God damn it:BE POSITIVE!

It seems to me that the majority of the people that can't take the hear or have "had it up to here with MJ" are younger than me. I just turned 30 last November which means I was old enough to live through some of his best eras. Most that are even older than me are not trippin at all over things that younger fans are crying over.

So, basically if you're mid to early 20's or even younger, you feel you've missed out on alot? You look at acts out right now like Beyonce, Alicia and Kanye and say "why can't my favorite artist be on EVERY single award show?"

i know what you mean i m a fan since i was about 12 so thats more then 3 decades:lol::lol:
boy those where the days and i still think michael is the one and only number one
and knowing michael he wont sdtart singing till he knows he can pout something better then anyone so wait and see you ll be knocked of your feet (again)

Well, I'm 24 and have been a fan most of my life and maybe that's why I'm not freaked out by anything that MJ does or doesn't do. If you've been a fan for long enough you'll know that waiting is normal, we have always had to wait for his albums, his concerts etc. He has never been the kind of artist that brings out something every year just in time for Christmas and may he never become that. That being said, because of my age I have missed out on a lot and part of me is anxious to experience the MJ I've always seen on TV, but another part of me has made peace with the very real possibility that that might not happen. I have enough good MJ memories to survive the thought of him never touring again.

I understand people getting frustrated with MJ sometimes, but the way I see it you have two choices: be a fan or don't. And if you know there's no way you can stop being a fan, then it's better for everyone concerned to stay calm (and strong) when nothing or negative stuff happens. Role with the punches or take some time out and don't follow things so closely - that wouldn't make you a bad fan or anything.

As for the Grammies. I didn't bother to even find a channel to watch it on. Every year we go hysterical about MJ possibly showing up and I know this year was special because of Thriller, but unless it's official I'm not wasting my time with that show. It isn't what it used to be and I wouldn't be surprised if the annual "MJ might be there" rumours are designed to hype this useless show. As someone already said: it makes more sense for Michael to appear if he has new material. And if he one year does make a surprise visit to the Grammies, I will miss it and happily watch a recording.

pretty much agree with the original post. younge fans today are spoiled interms of having the internet and always wanting news etc. where as older fans b4 the net had to make do with the press and fanclub newsletters every so often. sometimes going for 6 months or so at a time with no news or sightings at all. its the way things were and the way mj was/is interms of what he does. older fans understand that but younger fans seem to always be wanting info, news ect. its what comes with being brought up on the net.yet they should realise if they wanna follow mj its not like following other celebs also like was said about older fans have been there and done it through the other eras. the younger fans havnt so get frustrated and take it out on mj cause they werent born 10-20 years earlier.

I understand if young fans are eager to see Michael Jackson on stage again but you guys have to experience what older fans experienced. Like previously said, when you become a Michael Jackson you have to be very patient. You have to wait and wait - for an album, performance etc. Not just a year or two but several years gap in between.

Also just to remind that Michael was one foot from prison for something that he didn't do. He could just resign completely from the music industry to enjoy his life but did he do that? No. He's back in the music scene again. He's back in the process. It might take some time for him to return but considering what he went through, we should try to be supportive.

When you see a baby doing his first steps, you don't kick him, scream and tell him to do moonwalk instantly. Encourage and support him. Be patient.

He was like "I'll make you proud to be a fan of mine"
I've never heard of that but that is sad. Really sad to know.

I didn't expect anything to happen (re: Grammy Awards) from the beginning. Like previously said, Access Hollywood already stated that Michael was not going to attend. But it didn't take Access Hollywood to tell me that. Nonetheless Roger Friedman convinced some of you guys that Michael was rehearsing for a performance. Surprisingly some took up his bait. I smelt another WMA drama coming and boy, was I right.

Regarding to the tribute. I do not know what happened. You do not know what happened. People can speculate but that is about it. I'm not going to join the speculation club. I have other works to do in my life like working my butt real hard to be rich and successful.

When the right time comes, it will come.

Oh by the way, I haven't listened to Michael Jackson's music for almost a year already. I started to listen to his music once again last week. Boy, so refreshing and to realize again and again that his music is timeless. Plus I found a lot of new music to love while waiting for Michael Jackson to return.

Amen.

I am just as frustratred with the negative attitudes of some fans as I am with the constant 'poor Michael' psycho babble. Both are extremes in ny opinion and somewhat tiresome.

I agree with this post!

the problem is alot of those fans dont care about that. they dont care about mj on a personal level.didnt follow the case so what if mj is lynched type attitude its just about the music and what they want from him.

you know i love the fans BUT....

i get so pissed at some so called fans from time to time and even true fans that i know they love michael and truly care about him. they're so quick to believe the tabloid junk, every rumor that surfaces, they speculate over things they have no clue about and they spend 24/7 by complaining about things michael does/has done etc etc
for example there are fans speculating on his finances when he himself has said numerous times that those are malicious false rumors that are made up by the media who try to bring him down, same goes for his health; he has said many times (eg jesse jackson interview in 2005) that his health is perfect yet there are fans who believe stupid tabloid rumors that he has this and he has that and they spread the crap around; he has said that he never had plastic surgery (except two nosejobs) and there are fans who believe the media again and say he has had tons of plastic surgeries etc etc
this BS is easy for michael to deal with cuz he knows the truth and he can ignore the crap(he probably sits and laugh about it) but its hard for some fans like myself to deal with cuz we are part of the fan community and we are constantly exposed to BS.
i believe some fans feed the tabloids and the media by their willingness to believe them and to spread their false stories around. michael is one of the very few celebs who is not self destructive and he has never been so. this fact annoys the hell out of the media and thats why they keep attacking him. he's too normal and has too much self control for being someone who's on the top of the world. he doesnt smoke, drink or do drugs. he's never done so. i bet that bugs them too much. the fact that he remains the person that he always was after the hell he has been through. the fact that he didnt go nuts after the live he's had.
the reason that i decided to make this thread is because i wanted to let everyone know how much i love all of you, the fans of michael jackson, but at the same time i feel some of us need to stop feeding the media by believing their false stories. michaels had it already. he doesnt even bother to explain anything anymore. he just goes "ppl are crazy" and hes done.
good for him. now maybe its time for some of us to do the same and ONLY believe and trust in michael and NOBODY else. believe only what comes out of HIS mouth or his family's mouth or even close friends mouth. nobody else's. the fact is that thats ALL u can know for a fact and everything else are just rumors which most of them if not all of them are completely false. remember that we have NO clue about michaels personal life and we only KNOW what he/his family/his friends let us know. :flowers:

im 15 and feel like i have missed out however i have bought all his CD's and DVD's and i know its not his fault i wasnt around when he was big. The one thing i do really wish is that i could see him live someday - i have the dangerous live in bucharest DVD and it looks amazing. You guys who were there r really lucky! Obviously michaels only gonna do a tour or what ever again if he really wants to which he probably doesnt and he definately doesnt need to. As for being impatient about new material i know that complaining wont make it happen any faster, if it happens again at all.
