Thriller 25 proving that MJ still has very good Sales Potential

Come on. MJ can do well everywhere cuz he's freakin Michael Jackson. What he makes is universal. It is why he's so successful IN GENERAL. And if anywhere, he'll do well in America.

Not all of his songs has been universal. And it's just that US people doesn't seem to be liking that universal music for ages.

No but MOST of his music is universal LOL It's all about melody and MJ got that locked. The fact that MJ BLEW UP all over the world cuz of thiller is because THRILLER is universal, even though it's pretty AMerican too. Everyone can relate to his music.

US people doesn't like universal music? What do u mean? If u mean MJ's music lately has been not well received...that's just wrong lol. I'll look for the excel sheet to prove that lol

I know he can do well in America, but with THE RIGHT MUSIC. The truth is he can't do well EVERYWHERE because the music taste is different.

he already has. but..if u wanna believe the sky is green, ur gunna do that...i understand, lol...

there are always naysayers..and i don't always mean that in a negative way..but, seeing isn't always believeing with everybody.

but i can believe without seeing...so..that's why i tend to be one who believes invincible did wayy better than some think...or t25 will do better than some think..or..Akon is a good fit for MJ...or..whatever...

I so want this to get to Number 1 in the UK

It would be soo amazing and a big shock to alot of people

if you mean by US...united states of america...where did you get that from? you see...this is why i like to repeat things...

you don't see what goes on in the households of america..so the media is taking advantage of it, here. although there are exceptions in the usa..media that have given props to MJ. the reality is that some usa media has been harsher on him than that around the world...and people around the world tended to believe that. but they don't see who goes to the store...or who downloads..so those media take advantage of that. and they use their power to sway you. like i said....they said the fanbase is dwindling....right in the middle of showing peeps with signs..and craziness with MJ surrounded by security. and some people believed what the media said, despite all that. and if it weren't for people realizing that these videos were not doctored....they would've kept on swaying the world that the fanbase was dwindling. but it became to obvious, that he needed security inside and outside of america..so those media changed their strategy. now they said that he is loved outside of america, but not inside of america. of course they said that to make themselves feel better.

but...the court appearances..and the vegas appearances, etc, became too obvious..so..yet again, those media had to change their strategy. now, they switch to something that you and i CANNOT see. the actual numbers of sales. since they could convince some fans that the fanbase was dwindling, despite video footage to the contrary, at first...how easy it would be for these biased media individuals to convince some people that invincible flopped..or is the least selling cd...or that MJ cannot make a comeback...or that he needs to make a comeback(he never left) but then, video footage of celebrities giving props to MJ on a regualar basis...and dance movie after dance movie being made in the shadow of MJ's moves...for the last 25 years...and..the music scene believing that they are dependent on videos now..and most of them mimick the MJ style, unless the band is full of guitarists...all these things became too obvious...so now...it's just left to the media to use their power to convince you of something based on what you can NEVER get proof of...sales numbers...

heck..they're still trying to convince you that the only thing that is keeping him above water is the beatles catalogue. you wanna keep believing that too, just because you can't see proof..and just because some media tells you so? 'just because you read it in a magazine.....'

I'm just laughing my butt off here at some of the fans who thought releasing Thriller 25 was such a bad idea, but seeing how well its doing they are now singing a different song!lol

Go MJ!!!!!!

yes.. it is funny...

a continuation of his legacy is being written....!!!

I have never believed there are no MJ fans. If these boards are active, also outside these boards must be "active" people. It's different if you have tens of thousands of fans (that's quite a lot and abnormal already) than you have hundreds of thousands.

But I have to disagree that Michael wouldn't need promo. T25 has been promoted a lot and he always needs that much promotion that people just KNOW something has been released. It looked like people didn't know that well in 2001 that Invincible was released..

No, "Invincible" wasn't promoted at all, but it still sold upwards of 10 million copies. That's more then Justin Timberlakes two solo efforts. Michael's name alone is half the promotion. He's the most famous human being on the planet and when people see his product, whether they like him or not, they know it means quality.

This is good news and very surprising. I live in Los Angeles and I'm still trying to find a copy.

aha! see? LA weekly said it would be at virgin megastore on hollywood blvd. as well as the best buys circuit city's and the like...

so, yes..MJ is doing well.

I went to Barnes and Noble today, and asked for the album...and low and behold, it was sold out! And I live in the US, too! :D Go Michael!
Yeah, didn't have time to come on the threads today, but my best friend called me this morning and asked me did I have it, because at the Targets near her home (in the South Suburbs - Chicago) it was SOLD OUT! So she goes into her interrogation mode of questioning: so. when will the next shipment come in? (they didn't know, but a truck was coming in later...)...^_^

Just to clarify, TSCM's article said that T25 is scheduled to be the #1 newly released album of the week, not that it would be the #1 album in the country. It appears that it will be in the top 5, but #1 is very unlikely. Honestly, I have no idea what's #1 right now and I'm not motivated to look it up because I'll probably have to lock myself in a closet and cry when I see who it is.

BTW, you don't need 500K anymore to be #1 in the US. 250-300K can do that for you at this point because sales are down so low.

I said it before in the other thread and I'll say it again here. With promotion from both a major label and Mike himself, he'll easily be able to create another #1 CD. Look at the sales now based on internet promotion and one TV commercial and imagine what they would be if there was some sort of performance at the Grammy's. I honestly believe he'd be competing for the #1 album right now and that he'd probably win.

If the rumors of this TV special for both T25 and a new album are true then watch out...
Depends on the competition any given week. This is usually a slow time for the music biz, although the Grammys does help to pick up sales. Had the T-25 tribute taken place, it would do better.

But I think that it's phenomental that for a 25 year old project with limited promotion, no hot song in the Top 10, no Grammy boost and most importantly, NO MJ VIDEO, he is STILL kicking azz and taking names.

This why I have been saying since I have been on this board that you can not listen to the media. This man is still loved. Now look, these same idoit media folks are at his feet again. It is good but it makes me mad as well that people can be so fickle.
Hey YOU! Long time no c! :D

That may be so Timmmy but in this electronic, web-infested era, the hype is easily taste tested online. Nobody has to actually buy the entire disc to get the feel. The hype is tangible and has been tested prior to the purchase. They are closet fans that are coming out the woodwork ... bet !!
You ani't never lied! :p

I wouldn't be surprised to see the sales actually increase next week which is rare for a artist. I think some stores sold out of Thriller 25, assuming it wouldn't sale very well. They will probably order a much larger stock for next week.

It really amazes me how when michael is selling WELL, negative folks want to say "oh maybe the store didn't order enough." Now let any other artist sell well and it's all good. But when Michael Jackson does well you got ppl trying to knock that down. And when michael is possibly gonna chart #5 or higher (on a RE-RELEASE) you got complainers blabbing about "oh maybe he would have went #1 if he would have performed at the grammys" No matter what mike does he "just can't get right" with some folks. So annoying.

Are we really supposed to believe that all the stores, that where sold out, that all the members on here went to DIDN"T ORDER ENOUGH albums and "maybe" that's the only reason why michael is selling well? PLeazzzz!-_-

Darrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn you EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVILLLLLLLLL trolls, DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDarn YOU!!!!!!

 I'm sorry I just had to yell that. The automatic negatively annoys me some times. Especially after I went to the store today and saw for myself how michael is kicking butt. oh but that's right maybe the stores I went to didn't order enough just like all the other stores.

ROTFLMAO! I can see you shaking your fist in the air vigorously  You're right though. Can people just let positivity BE? LOL It's so rare these days, just take it!

You know, I've read a lot of negative posts on here, but discussing whether they didn't ship enough copies of a product is NOT one of them. The product is moving with the copies that they DID ship, that's a fact.

*C & Ps response I wrote in another thread*

"Sorry, I'll remember not to inquire about stuff in the future if it in any way shape or form possibly reduces an MJ accomplishment even slightly. Obviously, it's doing really well no matter what, since I can't find it anywhere and reports about being sold out are coming in from everywhere. T25 is a massive success either way. I had to order it online because the Deluxe Edition is literally all gone in every popular store in my town. Even the regular one is out of stock in half of the stores here. No one is trying to act like the CD/DVD isn't doing great, or that MJ isn't a likely contender for charting at #1.

And if they didn't send out enough CDs, then it means that it's a way bigger success than was expected. If asking if the shipment wasn't large enough is too negative, wow. That's a really dumb reason for calling someone a naysayer. I've believed in MJ's ability to sell in high quantities all this time.

Terribly, terribly sad for anyone who would construe my inquiry as negative. Everything over the years has truly rendered some fans paranoid and overly defensive. It is cult-like to read it sometimes.

Anyway, MJ is the man, and T25 is kicking butt."

Seriously. "Negative people." Sigh.

sure it's negative. cus no matter how many orders they bring in, they'll sell out. that's the real fact.

and if i'm paranoid..long live paranoia....MJ has earned it.:punk:

Could we all just enjoy this please ... save the drama for if some ish hits the fan and the positive flow ends **SNAP**

and let more copies roll as a result.:punk:

Right, and I'm on the opposing side of MJ selling extremely well. I'm a "negative person" because I made a suggestion that probably crossed the minds of many free thinking people who aren't disoriented by one extreme or another.[/sarcasm]

Anyway, no need to respond further. I'm gathering you are too far gone for me to work simple reason on ya. Ta.

And anybody objecting to the bickering can trace it back to that post where everyone who asked if possibly the shipments weren't large enough because the sales exceeded expectations was referred to as trolls and somehow negative people. Obviously the sales DID exceed expectations, so what the hell is the big deal with asking if this translates into the number of CDs released? Whatever.
