Album sales/any way of finding out how well thriller 25 has done so far?

i know that the big HMV store near my house in Canada (Toronto) was sold ot of thriller 25 copies today...luckily i got mine at 10:00 on the day of release...i just went to check to get an idea:D

mustnt get too excited tho, TGIM has a mid week estimate of top 10 in the UK and charted at #32.. However i do agree the album will be much more successful that the UK single.

In Swedish iTunes T25 is #1 album and also the #17 album (both versions in top 20)
Also WBSS still holds strong in sweden at #6 on top songs.

Sweden and Australia are absolutely dominating in levels of success relevent to their countries for both the single and album on iTunes. USA seems to be the worst but most places got it 2 - 4 days before USA, so they still need a few days to catch up haha.

Midweek charts show a Number 4 entry in UK.

Also, T25 is number 9 in HMV Canada chart.

not to mention in Netherlands its #3, #8 and #21 (it charts 3 times - different versions)
#1 and #17 in sweden
#5 and #11 in australia

and a whole lot more which i cant be bothered seaching right now.

The fact that if he has 3 versions of this thing, ALL SALES ARE COMBINED! So that just boosts the sales totally. Smart move. I cant wait to see Worldwide sales figures!

The only place where having three different versions like this hurts is at sites like Amazon, since the sales for each edition do not combine in the Amazon sales ranking. The fact that all three editions are in the #20-30 spot right now (even the 2001 reissue is hanging around #100) means that, had there just been one edition, it likely would've been in the top 3-5 on Amazon right now at the very least. But like you said, the actual sales is what matters and since they are combined, all is good.

The fact that this 25-year-old reissue is set to sell more copies its first week than many of the brand new studio albums says a lot. And this is all without much of any promotion yet by Michael himself. A Grammy appearance would've sent the already impressive sales into orbit. I'm still hopeful that he will put together a Thriller-related television special at some point, perhaps like the "One Night Only" HBO special that never came to be. His own special would do far more promotional-wise than any awards show ever could, and he wouldn't have to worry about the organizers messing everything up (be it intention or not).

I don't like how charts are seperating the different versions.. If they would add all the sales, it would easily be #1... That's dumb..

I like that it's doing well though..

Oh, I went to Walmart today, they did not even have the damn album.. They did not even have a Michael Jackson slot.. They just had Essencail album in the Janet Jackson spot.. So rediculous, it still bothers me a half hour later.. lol!

Well it will effect sales, that's why.. That's the second Walmart I've been to this past year that did not have MJ section/slot..

when billboard and other chart orgainisations to their positions the sales of all 3 digital and all 3 physical albums are combined into ONE total. Meaning MJ has 6 sources of sales to contribute to ONE position. So fear not.

US is a much bigger market.. but something tells me we will all be pleasantly surprised next week..

yep.. much like MSG did for him.. with 25mil people watching it in the US when it 1st aired..

Mike is smart... he is saving his dancing feet for something special...

same here with the walmart just the old albums there i was so mad!!!
walmart ....walmart *sigh*

Walmart always have their cds and such all over the place. So when you go to walmart you really have to look good and on all the racks. E-smooth and kopv did you guys ask to see if they had them at all and they sold out and that's why you couldn't find them. Cuz all but one plain cover edition was left when I went to my walmart.

Same here.

I bought my copy of the deluxe version today.
I compared 3 places, that had it in stock---Target/JB HiFi/Sanity
Prices varied between $23---$30---some had the ordinary version only.
I ended up with a deluxe version.
Just something I wondered about----the back cover of the version I bought, shows Michael in the white suit---but there was a loose leaf of paper that has the track list on it for the CD and DVD.
Is the loose leaf with every copy????? just curious.

For some reason the post disappeared before I finished----JB's had it at Number 2---while Sanity had it a Number 1.
I really, really LOVE the whole package for T25.

I bought mine from HMV in the UK and mine had the loose leaf. It's just there so that people know what's on the album when they're looking in the shops. I like that it isn't printed on the back of the book.

BTW Thriller 25 is still No4 in the midweek charts. (buzzjack forum is the place to see the info)
