Michael Jackson Returns To UK Album Charts
As Duffy claims singles glory...
Michael Jackson made his return to the UK album charts yesterday as the 25th anniversary edition of 'Thriller' charted at number three.
The album, which features new remixes by Kanye West and will.I.am, was the charts highest new entry.
Jack Johnson and Nickelback held on to the first and second positions in the album charts respectively, while Morrissey’s greatest hits compilation debuted at number five.
Meanwhile, in the singles charts, rising star Duffy finally dislodged Basshunter from the top of the countdown with her single, ‘Mercy’.
The singer's debut single, which is released on general sale on February 28th, topped the charts on downloads alone.
Elsewhere, Nickelback’s ‘Rockstar’ stayed at number two while Adele’s ‘Chasing Pavements’ fell to number five.

Jack Johnson Keeps Michael Jackson From Number One
by Paul Cashmere - February 18 2008
Jack Johnson's 'Sleep Through The Static' has maintained its number one position for a second week in both Australia and the UK despite competition from the reduxed Michael Jackson album 'Thriller'.
'Thriller debuted at number two in Australia with sales of 12,790 units but that wasn't enough to beat Johnson's 16,463 units winning score.
In the UK, 'Thriller' came in at number three behind Johnson and Nickelback.
'Thriller' has been reissued to mark its 25th anniversary. Jackson has created new 2008 mixes of some of the classic songs with Kanye West, will.i.am, Fergie and Akon.
'Sleep Through The Static' is Johnson's 5th studio album.

'It's the wild west out there'
The sparkle of this week's Brit awards should temporarily ease the music industry's gloom. But the Sony BMG boss tells Owen Gibson there remains profit to be made - and that he's still in it for the music
He recalls sitting in a meeting in the US while head of marketing at Epic. "I remember this guy walking in and saying we would get a 200ft statue of Michael Jackson and sail it down the Thames, and 'it's going to cost £40m.' Instead of coming up with great ideas, we started thinking about how we could spend the most money."
