Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

Thanx for the news! :flowers:

Also on MJ's official myspace, you can now text MJ and the message appears on there. Pretty cool! :sarmoti

INews Bytesfor February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

I hae no doubt in my mind that we are gonna see this new album this year....08.

I just heard the first single from Mariah Carey's new album and IMO, she is in the same rutt as Janet. The song is called Touch My Body and it is extremely over-sexed and immature. I just don't understand why some of my favorite artist can not mature with their core fan base. And I am so tired of Mariah whispering!

If Michael's music is as good as Will says it is, I think that Michael will rule this year no matter who else is releasing something. Especially if they all keep pushing the sex card.

You know what? I said the same thing.. so far I am not impressed with Janet's, Mariah's, Usher's or Madonna's new singles.. I think Michael has a good chance here. He can make some timeless, melodic music bringing back his soulful vocals.

OMG! Exactly!..I was thinking "why do they have to sex up every song?" touch my body?..come on Mariah you can do better than that. Annnnddd, Ushers new song "In the Club", oh Lord-_- that song is talking about makin' love in da club....

please Mike, hurry...

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

^ Mariah has become a substance of the music industry factory.. This is what happens.. She's GREAT, but she fell in the trap.. She could get out, but she keeps going deeper and deeper into it..

Some artists, that were highly respected, once they get a bit older and it becomes harder to keep up.. They think they need to 'fit in'. That's how things are today etc... NO!! They made it that way, and you are great because of what you do.. Not what THEY do.

OMG, you are kidding, right? Making love in public....now that's just nasty! Poor Usher.

No one is gonna remember these types of songs 10 years from now. No one is gonna be humming them. These people need to ask why Alicia Keys continues to sell a truck load of her albums and why she keeps charting so well. Its all in the lyrics, people!

With what I see coming from these 3 big powerhouses....Janet, Mariah and Usher, I think Michael isn't gonna have much competition from "today's relevant" artists. I think Michael is gonna bring us some real music.

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

Ok, I just went to YouTube and peeped at Usher's new song.

In the words of Simon Cowell....."it's forgettable".

It sounds like a spin off rom "Let It Burn".

Oh. Thanks. I didn't realize they were the same thing. I already listen to MJ on AOL ever since I learned about it here. That is a great station. I love the selections they play there... pure classic MJ together with mixed songs from Thriller 25 and some stuff from him I never heard before as well. The sound quality on it is awesome too.

This is a really good point, and it's sad yet very true. I think it also is the same situation with actors; if they don't take on certain roles or an image that will sustain them in the public's eye (or rather what Hollywood THINKS will help to sustain them) they loose their popularity.

Sad how they feel that they have to please so many when those who really love and appreciate them have accepted them all along no matter what.

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

^ its just sad

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

With the way Usher and Mariah are sounding, Michael isn't gonna have any competition. I don't even think Whitney can compete anymore, at this point. Michael'll take over the number one spot with ease, you better believe it.

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

I totally agree with ya, WBSS. I don't think that any of the usual suspects will give Michael any trouble. Not even his sister. I think Michael has it in the bag.....as long as he releases good, classic, MJ music with a sprinkle of freshness to it.

+ there will be the huge promotion on his side (I mean the visual part of it):)

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008

Now what I do not understand about the house in Los Angeles is that why is Micheal the only one paying for this? I think this house was paid for in the 80's and Michael paid of it? Anyway, Michael is not the only child of Joe and Katherine.

Because they're all parasites?

(except Janet, I suppose)

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

not that it matters, but if you're looking at feasible competition for Mike (say 2008-2009 charts), Usher and Mariah aren't it...

you've got Kanye, Winehouse (already working on new material - in talks with Prince for a collab!), Timbaland & co. (still strong as ever), possibly Led Zepplin (if rumours are true), and Dr. Dre's final album (feat. all-star reunion and Eminem comeback) which is already creating a buzz... plus any surprise comebacks or newcomers who we know can climb up those charts like monkeys on speed these days..

i'm all for Mike, but it won't be a walk in the park for him in those charts. but obviously he can dominate if the material and promo is right for everyone. we'll just have to wait and see before coming to any conclusions or predictions.

It is against the rule to be disrespecting MJ's family like that. You have no knowledge of the workings and agreements within that family, how did you come to that conclusion?:mello:

Yeah I agree. I have good faith that he will make it to the top of the charts again... but only with the right preperations :)

Enjoy the weekend everyone and thanks for the news ^_^

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

You are always up in MJ's financial business.

its called a discussion board and if its allowed to be discussed on here than i will discuss it. like many others. dont be going on at me because your in these threads posting as much as Iam.

Re: Weekend News Bytes for February 29- March 2, 2008 (Update for March 1)

Kanye is back again?? maybe he can take a break.. and I know Beyonce will be back sometime soon. Winehouse doesn't impress me that much, and Eminem's last couple of songs haven't exactly done well on the Billboard charts. Dr. Dre??? his album has been in the works for 15 years and like Timbaland, all of his songs sound the same

Michael Jackson Mentionings for March 2, 2008:

Here is an article about Quincy Jones history that mentions some things about Michael. The article is 5 pages long so I will just post the mentionings of Michael here.

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/the-arranger.html?c=y&page=5

The Arranger

From bebop to hip-hop, nobody alive has done more for American music than Quincy Jones.

Wearing a gray suit, gray Crocs with Mickey Mouse imprints and zebra-striped socks, Jones is giving a tour of the place, which also serves as a tour of his astonishing career. In the cabana is a display of 40 platinum records commemorating 40 million sales of Michael Jackson's Thriller, which Jones produced in 1982 and which has reached global sales of 104 million—the biggest-selling record ever. The walls of his screening room are lined with posters of the three dozen movies he has scored.

Still, three-quarters of a century is the sort of milestone that has journalists, historians and his fellow artists focusing on Jones' legacy. "His music threads its way throughout popular culture," says Sidney Poitier, a Jones pal for more than four decades. "You won't be able to speak of Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson or many other artists without some reference to Quincy."

Jones was already well known when Michael Jackson asked him to produce an album. They would do three—Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982) and Bad (1987)—a collaboration that would change pop music forever. Before making Off the Wall, Jones went to discos to learn the latest beats by watching people dance. The record has sold more than ten million copies. But it was the pulsating Thriller, with the songs "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and the title track, that reached every demographic, transformed Jackson into the king of pop and brought black music to MTV. "Michael and MTV rode each other to glory," Jones says. "I still hear those songs everywhere I go."
Gates, the historian, notices a big difference in Jackson before and after Jones. "With Quincy, Jackson makes the best-selling album in history. Without him, he's floundering. Every time I think of Thriller or Bad, I just hear Quincy there."

Fundamentally Sound, to use one example, can veer from an upbeat, barbershop-style rendition of Whitney Houston 's "I Will Always Love You " to a dark take on Luther Vandross ' "Superstar. " Then throw in some Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, Isley Brothers and Michael Jackson tunes, says Cameron Marston, a second tenor and publicity chair for the 14-member group.

Hollywood trembles at trial of 'private eye to the stars'

THE biggest Hollywood trial since the arrest of madam-to-the-stars Heidi Fleiss, in 1993, starts in Los Angeles this week with the trial of Anthony Pellicano, the Hollywood private eye employed by celebrities such as Tom Cruise and Michael Jackson.

Pellicano has also been retained by stars such as Tom Cruise and Michael Jackson via their lawyers. When Jackson faced child-abuse allegations in 1993, lawyers allegedly used Pellicano, who unearthed material that purportedly helped to settle the case.

One of his gloves is missing. But this is not just a glove. It's a Billionaire Couture glove: made out of several small animals and costing an arm and a leg. And, as Michael Jackson has shown us, gloves worn in the singular just look daft.

Oooher what an opening. Eighteen kids swaying and stomping all over the stage to Michael Jackson’s “Startin Something”, choreographed by judge Matt Lee.

Admit it, you're excited. You wanna dance on the ceiling like Lionel Richie or dance on the floor like Michael Jackson ("Billy Jean" lyrics, try to keep up). Oh yeah, it's THAT exciting. It's like you get extra minutes without having to sign up now or pay later, all because we get to fiddle with time.

Newswatch: How do you think the problem could be tackled?
Oliver De Coque: Piracy is not a small issue, it's like Tsunami, and it's everywhere. Michael Jackson once said that Thriller sold millions of copies excluding Africa and Asia. He was referring to piracy in these two continents. It is worrisome. I think the best thing government could do is to create an agency and appoint somebody like Dora Akunyili to sanitise the industry.
