Hello again all :) Hope your day is going well.
Ok, news today, hmm seems some was posted already so I'll skip to the mentionings:

Sierra Leone: Moba Mobs Obba
...What's in the name, you may ask, of a school, a person or anything at all? So much, if you believe my father, who, when I was growing up in the 1980s and pop stars were popping up all over, would dissuade me from being called Michael Jackson or anything along those lines.
I did get called one of the Jackson 5 anyway, apparently because people believed I was a terrific dancer, and Michael remains my best musician of all time...http://allafrica.com/stories/200803250861.html

The Lopez Brothers. The pair is establishing itself as the greatest set of twins in sports. Ever since Tiki Barber's retirement, the sporting world has been looking for its next set of brothers to pass the torch to, and the Lopez's are it. And did you know that their heroes are Walt Disney and Michael Jackson? What's not to love? http://media.www.tuftsdaily.com/med...usters.Flusters.And.Lacklusters-3281872.shtml

The End of London’s Superclubs?...One of London’s largest and best-known nightclubs, Turnmills, which has a capacity of 1,100, will close its doors for good this weekend with a final Easter blowout. It has enjoyed 23 years of hard clubbing in the lower floors of a converted gin distillery in east London – from the smiley-faced acid house craze of the late 1980s to the “nu-rave” revival of the past few years. In 1990, it became the first venue in the UK to be granted a 24-hour, 365-day-a-year music and dance licence. But having survived ever-shifting musical tastes, the rise of London gun crime and a birthday party for Michael Jackson, Turnmills has fallen victim to a more deadly foe: a decade of soaring property prices...http://www.psfk.com/2008/03/the-end-of-london’s-superclubs.html

Today in Michael Jackson History

1983 - Michael Jackson performed the moonwalk for a live audience for the first time during a performance of "Billie Jean." "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today and Forever" was a television special that aired on May 16, 1983. During the show Jackson performed as a solo artist and with his brothers.
1991 - Michael Jackson escorted Madonna to the Oscars.

I don't think this was posted. We can add one more artist claiming to be working on Michael's new album:

http://top40-charts.com/news/Music-...-No-1-R&B-Hip-Hop-Superstar-T-Pain/39211.html

T-Pain recently had nine songs in the Billboard Hot 100 charts, seven of these were in the Top 50, and three of these were in the Top 10. At the same time, T-Pain became the first artist to have four singles in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Those singles were "Cyclone" (Baby Bash feat. T-Pain), "Good Life" (Kanye West feat. T-Pain), "Kiss Kiss" (Chris Brown feat. T-Pain), and "Low" (Flo-rida feat. T-Pain). T-Pain has upcoming singles with Mariah Carey, Lil Wayne, Omarion, Lil Mama, Charlie Wilson and is working on new albums with Usher, Missy Elliott, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, and Mike Jones, among others.

It was .. a long time ago

Man, that better not come true. Of all the "artists" out there, T-Pain is the LAST one I want to see near Michael.

Note that despite Michael's 11th place ranking this week according to HDD, his sales have in fact increased for the third week in a row and have remained very steady. If the trend continues, we should see him emerge in the top 10 once again in the weeks to come.

Below are the HDD predicted figures since the first week of sales for Thriller 25. Remember that these figures are not official and in fact the actual sales figures are typically thousands higher than what is listed.

Feb. 19 - 156,558
Feb. 26 - 54,508
Mar. 04 - 41,123
Mar. 11 - 49,181
Mar. 18 - 49,795
Mar. 25 - 52,880

Total HDD Thriller 25 U.S. Sales Totals: 404,045

(This means that Thriller 25 should be certified gold within 2-3 weeks in the U.S.)

The 10/11 position are so close that Mj could still come up in 10th position, couldn't he.:p

Thanks for posting the news you guys.

I have nothing against T-Pain. I do not like the music that he does because frankly it kinda sucks, but he is getting that paper and the hits. I can't hate on that. MJ sees that and he is going to work with him.

MJ can do whatever he wants with his music. It is obvious that he is going to a more hip hop/R&B urban Soul, and dance route. It is about time. ;)

TSCM and Linda74, thanks for posting the chart news. Thriller 25 is still selling. Yeah, baby!! Go Mike. I would not be shocked if the news of his brothers from the NYP might boost his sells.

yes..i'm glad MJ listens only to himself. He is a good businessperson. and good businesspeople do not have the word 'emotion' in their vocabulary.

and i love tpain's scrappy ability to make the most of what he has, and not worry about what he doesn't have. if more people did that, things would be better all around. it reminds me of the ncaa march madness. everybody is hating on memphis cus they can't hit their freethrows...but they are number one overall with many wins and only one loss. and all people can concentrate on is their 'achilles heel' and that one loss. not the wins, and how they overcompensate with what they are able to do. lol..that's why i'm picking them to win it all, cus their coach concentrates on the positive.

To be correct, neither HDD estimations nor SoundScan data have anything to do with "Gold", "Platinum" or "Diamord" certifications -- since those based on wholesale numbers. For "Thriller 25" "Gold" status was probably acheived right about first week of the sales. Now "Platinum" status is emerging, since local USA's wholesale figures topped 500000 mark long time ago and hundreds of thousands of copies of album were sold out. Wholesale channels are always recharging when retail gets sold.

Also, there was short note in the mentionings about Jackson allegedly selling Beatles' song to diapers advertisement. In reality, Michael had nothing to do with it since he was never manager at ATV MP and did not decide such matters. Only strategic matters were under his ruling, just as now (alongside with big Sony higher management).

You get my point. I focus on the bigger picture and not the little things. :) All power to T-Pain.

Great analogy regarding the NCAA team and the situation with how MJ works. I agree with that.

Really? Explain, Denis. You lost me. To reach Gold status in the US, you have to sell exactly 500,000 (a half a million) of the CD. To get to platinum status in the US, you have to sell 1,000,000 of the CD. MJ's first week, he sold like over 150,000 copies.

BTW, can someone on here break it down on how soundscan and HDD differ in sells or is it the same thing?

Lol. I wondered how long it would take you to spot this.

:toofunny:

I guess I'm predictable on this front, lol. But gezz, T-Pain's name sure does fit him, cause I feel a pain creeping up in to my neck every time his lame ass comes on the air. He can't sing... like... at all. If Michael uses him, I hope it's just as a door mat for him to wipe his feet on before he enters the studio.

Thanks for clarification denisrs:) Thanks guys for the news and mentionings;)

FORMER MIJAC MANAGER IN NY POST STORY BY MISTAKE: Frank DiLeo wrongly-quoted in article about Jackson family's financial issues.

*A scathing story about the Jackson family in Sunday's New York Post claims most of the famous brothers are financially strapped and waiting on the next handout from Janet, but EUR has learned that a source quoted in the article claims to have never spoken with either of the two Post writers.
"In a series of interviews with three of the nine Jackson children, two relatives and a current and former employee - over the last three years and as recently as last week - The Post learned in stunning detail just how down and out the Jacksons are," wrote The Post's Stacy Brown and James Fanelli.

They go on to claim that Marlon, 51, is currently stocking shelves at a Vons supermarket in San Diego, and "had to temporarily move into an extended-stay hotel." Randy, 46, reportedly "does odd jobs, including fixing cars in a Los Angeles garage owned by a family friend. He recently claimed Michael was going to give him $1.7 million – 'a pipe dream,' said another brother last week."
Brown and Fanelli say that Jackie, 56, "is struggling to manage his son Siggy's aspiring rap career after an Internet clothing business startup and attempts to produce music failed." They claim that Jermaine, 54, "shuttles back and forth from his girlfriend's home in Ventura County, Calif., to his parents' mansion in Encino, where Jackie and Randy still bunk."

"Tito, 55, is the only brother still making music, but it's a meager living," the article claims. "The guitarist fronts a blues and jazz band that plays small venues and nets him $500 and $1,500 per occasional gig - a far cry from the days when the Jacksons could pull in 50,000 people at $30 a ticket."

As for Papa Joe, the 79-year-old, according to the article, "spends most of his waking hours conjuring up schemes he hopes will replenish a bank account that once had more money than the FDIC cared to insure."

Frank DiLeo

EUR's Lee Bailey has spoken with Michael Jackson's former manager Frank DiLeo, who was quoted during a portion of the article about the possibility of a Jackson reunion tour to generate funds.

DiLeo was quoted as saying: "Michael was not going to work with the family again. He was concerned only about building his legacy. He had to be bigger than Elvis."

But DiLeo tells us he never made that statement. Furthermore, he contacted the article's co-writer, Stacy Brown, to complain. According to DiLeo, Brown said the quote was meant to be attributed to Bob Jones, MiJac's former director of communications and the author of "Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask."

DiLeo told EUR: "Stacy Brown called because he wanted me to speak at the University of - somewhere up there [in NY] - and I told him I lived in Nashville and I wasn't able to do it, and that was the end of it. He said, 'How are things going,' I said, 'Fine.' We talked about our business in Nashville."

Next thing DiLeo knows, he's being quoted in the New York Post regarding Michael Jackson.

"And I don’t know what [Brown] got into with Bob Jones or whatever, but I'm not a part of that whole crew," he said. "I never make statements and I don't make any comments. Why they put my name in that and where they got it from – it could've been something from 30 years ago, for all I know."

You lost me.
"If lost, will you find me?"
Yes, I will. :)

Even before the very first day of "Thriller 25" retail sales, about 400 000 copied where "wholesold". With first week's retail sales about 160 000, channels were recharged with additional wholesale shipments.

Thus "Gold" status for "Thriller 25" album was actually achieved in about first week of the sales. In coming weeks, "Platinum" status will emerge the same way since wholesale figure for USA will top 1 million units.

Whether and when "Thriller 25" will have certifications depends on RIAA and LR/ER/Sony-BMG. By the way, there will be no independent certifications -- they will just update "Thriller" overall sales.

Thats an understatement really! I just hope T-Pain could just disapear or atleast on Michael's radar..
