:mello:..i dont get it..half of them think that david cooks version i.e chris cornell's version is the original one..lmao...its times like this,i wish mj would release the new album, and just kick everyones ass...sigh...its so dissapointing, that ppl r stupid,to think that david cook is better than mj,and he kicks mj;s ass,,and such comments like,,at least he dsnt bleach himself...yadda yadda..etc/...when will ppl realise michael's genius in making music..it seems,as if..mj has just faded away with time..i really hope mj has something big planned for the future...i may sound sound selfish.but..just one last time at least..just to make ppl shut their mouths abt his talent..

i agree with u on mj bein better but i dont have a clue what ur talkin about lol, like what r they sayin hes better @ can we have a link 2 the video..i like shuttin pple on youtube down about mj its fun lol

lmao @ people liking that crap version better
they must need their ears testing. His version didn't suit the song AT ALL. it was AWFUL.

After hearing too much trash music, their ears are conditioned to like trash music. bad taste in short.

AW: why are ppl saying that david cook's version is better than mj's on youtube?

Wow! Fans feeling threatened again! Not everyone has to like MJ! Besides, it was a new, fresh take in a total different direction on a well known song... so let them like it! It's still an MJ song after all!

i think you don't realize when they are takin the piss..and when they're not. they know MJ is better...and they know MJ is the originator..you can tell when they bring up the personal attacks against MJ. MJ doesn't have to do anything. those haters are outnumbered..and those haters know they are lying.

no matter what people do with MJ songs its always cooler to say that its better than the orignal. i read reviews on the itunes fall out boy beat it song and they all say their version is better and that mayhers solo is better. thats THE dumbest thing ive EVER heard!

He's doing a chris cornell version if you haven't known yet.

Because it's not cool to like MJ.

..really? then why the thriller dance in all variations is so popular right now? why artists like beyonce knowles, william, akon, mary j.blige and many more show their love and respect for him? I think since 2005 it is cool AGAIN to like MJ! Of course there are still haters, but my impression is that the general public is annoyed by the tabloid BS and wants new MJ music. Isnt the global success of T25 (especially in the USA) proof enough?

I agree. I think fan are more often more negative towards MJ than the general public. I have not known another artist where the public is EXPECTED to love the person or be a fan. Everyone has an opnion of MJ because he is larger than life famous. But that doesn't mean we should be on a crusade for people to love or accept him. What is important is that the truth is known, beyond this nothing is really necessary. I would hate for people to harass me if I didn't like Justin Timberlake. Why should fans expect everyone to like MJ. That is there perogative.
I think some fans are very insecure about their fandom. They are afraid of wjhat people might say, when there is really nothing to fear at all. Wear yout t shirt, play your music do what you want and leave other people alone to their thing.

yeah, I noticed that. Some fans should believe more in his abilities.
Even when MJ is not loved by everyone there is no one who does not appreciate his work. I can tell so from my experiences with non-fans. and btw: I LOVE it when it comes to defending MJ (always on the winners side ;) )
and fans shouldnt be afraid of showing their attitude towards him and show how proud they are..if you to so in a self-confident way, Im sure you get more positive than negative reactions. at least I do. :)

btw, it's Chris Cornell's version, not David Cook's. Don't you remember about a year ago when we found out the lead singer of Soundgarden was covering Billie Jean? Most fans hated it then, and most fans complained about people on YouTube saying his version is better than MJ's. Nothing's changed.

well fans of alien ant farm say the same about their version. who cares. you cant compare the original version with the covered - its kind of untouchable.

There will always be people that think some cover is better. Just different taste in music.

Just like some people prefer 50cents over Guns'n'Roses for example. Cook's was more rocky, and therefore appeal to some people who like it better, and not R'n'B. Even thoug Billie Jean is really unique, so I can't really catergorise it. So yes... Just like some Punk fans would like Fall Out Boys better than Mj's beat it. Or Perhaps maybe us fans liking a MJ's cover than the original.

Preference. nothing wrong.

I guess a positive thing that can come out of this is that Billie Jean is such a well written song that it works as a pop/R&B song (MJ's original) a slow rock song (Cornell's version) or whatever you want it to be. It works in many styles because it so well written. That's a credit to Michael's skill as songwriter.

I listen more to rock songs than to RnB but I wouldnt say because i prefer the rock genre I like chris cornells or this american idol dudes version more. I really like cornells version cause its different but it cant touch the original version tough.

btw: does anybody remember The Bates`version of BJ? was a huge hit here in germany

I won’t be surprised at how extreme it would get for someone to be a fan for an artist and being harassed is something very common. However in some cases it gets even more extreme, for example, in some places in UK there are many soccer hooligans I have some friends who are afraid to show any support for their favorite club they are not just harassed, they are beaten, some of them almost killed, etc… So it is something normal there are many crazy people, not because of religion or culture or anything else, it is just many people are very disrespectful, crazy and mean. My point is that even there are people with such mentality you don’t need to be anywhere around them and they don’t concern you, some children at YouTube use the “F” word a lot so it makes them feel cool! Some personalities are very insecure, and I won’t waste my energy and time on those YouTubers.

Yeh, I actually think David Cook would've been better off to have sung the Bates' version than Cornell's version.

lol, I saw an article informing peopler that Cook's version was not his own, it was note-for-note the same as Cornell's version and the article was titled "Billie Jean Is Not My Cover" lol, clever.

hmm.. dunno. cornells version really fits to cook, dont know if I could say the same for him and the Bates ..hehe..

Billie Jean is not my Cover
great! :D

Mr. Cook did good. I do not care what anyone say, Michael's verse is the best because it started it all. Michael's verse will ALWAYS be remembered. It is Michael's song. ANd MIchael will be the one getting PAID and getting the attention for ANYONE who does the song. I do not care what folks on saying on Youtude because that is typical of people. Believe me, they know who is the ORIGINATOR.

not really- I actually love Chris Cornell and I like his version of Billie Jean. He also brought it to "alternative" music listeners, just like Alien Ant Farm (bringing Smooth Criminal to Rock music listeners)

Exactly. Thanks for your post :flowers:

In Australia, I still feel it is so NOT cool to like MJ- other Aussies may not feel this way. But basically, I get flack on an almost daily basis for loving MJ, no matter what all these "cool" artists are doing for him. And since 2005 it's been about 10X worse for me.

Read my posts in th AI thread... I meant, that Cornell took it in a different direction... you can't blame the kiddies on YouTube not knowing the Cornell version when discussing the "AI version"!

Yes, that's the positive people should take away from it! Nobody should worry about anyone prefering this version over Michael's! It's still Michael's song!

Yes, I do... and that one was interesting as well, I kinda prefer Cornells version though... as far as cover-versions go... I really like his singing on that one!

Me too, Im impressed by cornells version and listen to it over and over again  I think its the best MJ cover ever!! (but, hey Im a soundgarden fan)

I hate Chris Cornell's slowed down acoustic version of Billie Jean. I mean i really do hate it with a passion! It's just awful to listen to. Great way to butcher the perfect pop song!

I can't understand why so many MJ fans like this version. Why would anyone wanna listen to it when you can listen to the original?

I wouldn't really describe it as "acoustic". Electric guitars and big, loud drums aren't typical characteristic of acoustic music.

^ It's like any cover. I LOVE the Jackson 5's "Lonely Teardrops" and "Stand" and all the covers they've done. I LOVE Mj's "Come Together" and "Smile".

I happen to have a really big love for alternative music, and I also love Faith No More's "Easy" (I actually prefer it to Lionel Richie's). And I don't mind Chris Cornell's Billie Jean. He seems to get the song- it's paranoia and darkness.
