Sorry, but Guinness is not a source when it comes to albums sales! For years they had the Thriller sales too low... and when they finally gave him an award for 104 mio, they went around a year later saying that they got told that number by Michael's management and have no independent verification!I am talking about the fans who find it hard to believe and find it exaggerated.
750 mil could probably be a round figure and I know that it was publicly announced and attested by reputable organizations, what type of a “fan” who try to prove the figure is less?! Being aware of MJ’s history gives you no surprise to believe this figure could be even more, maybe there could be sales not even counted in the past and MJ may have done well over 750 mil. I thought when this topic was raised, fans will be more aware and ready to prove MJ is worth it and fans should be the ones to be defensive against all the skeptics since the figure was publicly announced on the WMA/Guinness, otherwise if this was an unreliable source (which is doubtful) then you could be very skeptical. Me being a fan I try to be a reference and support him when he deserves it.
That I do not believe because MJ's millions of fans around the world bought up everything MJ including a;ll his motown stuff. That would have increase sales enormously. It's so hard to believe because his solo Motown stuff sold a fraction of what his solo Epic stuff has sold!
If his major (OTW/THRILLER/BAD/DANG./HIST./BODF/INV.) solo albums through the 80's,90's 00's can seel over 200 million I don't understand why it would be so hard to believe 750 million counting all his solo stuff from his whole solo career.. From Motown - Sony.. Counting all singles, best of's.... all that..
good point!!! .. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael owns the Eagles' catalog of songs in the near future.. Get them, Mike... Getem!

MJ just owns the Beatles publishing, but ATV has over a thousand songs
I agreewith other artists, it seems easy to believe, after they have achieved legendary status...but for some reason, it seems to be harder for some people to believe when it comes to MJ, who now has legendary status.
i believe 750 million.
Paul Mc did not sell much as a solo artist, neither did John. The figures were added and it showed that J5 and Jackson stuff puts MJ as the biggest artist ever cause he outsold the beatles. And I'll say this, if MJ's J5/Jacksons sales should be added, then the Beatles will add to Paul and the Supremes' '60s material will add to Diana.
Think about it.![]()

i'm not picking on you, honestlol but...![]()
According to Guinness World Records he has sold more records (400 million), penned more No 1 hits (50) and played to a bigger paying audience (350,000) than any other songwriter. It has made him the richest rock star in the world, with an estimated personal fortune of £825m. His song "Yesterday" is one the most recorded songs ever, with more than 3,000 versions.
Oh, yes... like the Beatles and Elvis don't!? Also no one never has pirated their works, right?? LOL, sorry... but this discussion is ridiculous... either you believe it or you don't! But all 3 mentioned artists have a strong case and there will never be a confirmation on who's actually sold most!See 750 million albums sold is true because if we include all the sales of all the singles,videos,tapes,etc...Plus the pirated ones, which sold raplidly, the total sales would be around 1 billion .We all know that most of our friends and family members definatley have atleast MJ`s one album/single atleast with them.So just count the number of those families ,the figure would be way more than 750 million when we consider the whole worldwide.MJ has unlimited number of fans all over.
I'm beginning to think people counted video sales, DVDs, singles, albums, cassette tapes, vinyl copies, blah, blah, blah to come up with the figures they come from Elvis, the Beatles and MJ and this is why debate over who really sold the most will continue.
Why y'all arguing when those three acts have seen more MONEY than we've seen?
All of that is to do with the Beatles as a group. Also it was revealed that he did n't have that much money as they have been talking about. In fact he only had half the amount.i'm not picking on you, honestlol but...![]()

If Thriller the album is selling 2 million copies in two months, I believe everything.
that's a lot closer to the truth for people whose minds want to continue to haggle..lol...
cus..for some, it's convenient to believe Guiness at one time...and not to believe them at other times...
and there's still the argument of whether John actually wrote the song..or Paul actually wrote the song...lol. and for that matter...even the definition of 'songwriter' is always in question, if more than one person is in the room.
i think peoples' minds will stay where they wish to stay...but i think MJ reached more third world counties than anyone....and, of course, some sales were not counted.
one thing is for certain. MJ has caused and still causes more mob scenes at every part of the globe, than anyone in music history...and you can't tell me that at least ninety percent of those mob scenes include people that still buy his material. well..you can say it, but you would be wrong.
