New Info on Fall Out Boy Beat It Video/ Official video on pg.5 **All threads Merged**

Very cool, respectful and fun video. Those guys rock.

Ok, so I think I have all the MJ nods picked out from the video.

The main set is actually the "Dirty Diana" homage. The lead (whatever his name is) has on the outfit. He even tears his shirt a little bit near the end.

Ok and that dude from my favorite show ever Scrubs is on there. He's in the Billie Jean stuff. He's actually a good MJ impersonator when he wants to be. He does a lot of the moves really well. He actually did it on the show one time. Thought I was gonna crap myself when I saw it.

During the guitar solo, I saw a clip of someone in the Black or White panther outfit, dancing around.

At the end, they actually did copy some of the styles from the MJ's video. The Gang clothing is almost the same.

That's all I could spot.

Here's what I spotted.

At :37, the guy with the sliver face reminds me of characters from Captain Eo.

At :52, there's your smooth criminal lol

At 1:08, dude has a white spangly glove, and a tux with sleeves rolled up, goes up on toes

At 2:25, another dude has a white glove

I wonder if there's a significance to the martial arts class learning MJ moves...

At 2:35, big guy in white suit also has one white glove, and almost does a crotch grab lol

At 2:37, guy in black fedora, white socks and loafers doing MJ moves (I guess the guy you refer to, IvoryKeys?)

At 3:04, guy does a Bad-type move with fingers, wearing black fedora

At 3:23, sumo wrestler does Thriller dance move lol

And the Dirty Diana stuff, like you said IvoryKeys

Yep, you got it! The dude who did the toe touch is the guy from the movie "Clueless" and the TV show "Scrubs" which I LOVE TO DEATH!!!

Turk's danced like MJ a bunch of times on Scrubs, too. In one episode, Carla asked him if he was all right, and he broke into a little Smooth Criminal... "I am doin' okay! I am doin' okay! I'm doin' okay!"

I don't really know if it's related, but I noticed less MJ references on that show later on, maybe in light of the allegations (though Turk still did a little MJ in the musical episode), so it's good to see the guy is still a fan.

Re: 'Beat It' Cover A Huge Success

I heard the cover on the radio a few weeks ago and didn't really like it. I don't mind listening to it if it comes on though, cuz obviously it could never be as good as the original. The video's a lot of fun though. All the MJ homage is just great, and just seeing Tony Hale from Arrested Development and Donald Faison from Scrubs, two of my favorite shows, made my day . I wish there was a link to the original in the Related Videos section :( . No matter though, cuz I'm sure the youngings and people who don't get the references will start looking up MJ videos - yay! :clapping:And MJ gets paid with the cover - double yay! :wild:

Does anyone else think this one has a chance.:D

LOL!!!:rofl::rofl: That's just too funny! I dunno... this could definitely could give the FOB cover a run for its money if they both went up on TRL... not that I can say that with a straight face:cheeky:.

God his voice kills the song for me...

But I like the video's references to Mike.

But I don't like the part at 0:31... people will misinterpret it.

Oh crap I didn't even notice that! WTF?

Anyway, I love the video! I know fall out boy are great fans of MJ's so I really don't think they'd do something like that in their video on purpose...I dunno....

His voice is annoying but they really rock in this video.

This video is now NUMBER THREE on the MTV TRL countdown. Love it, especially with all of the MJ reference's, it's a great lesson for the kiddies who watch TRL.

Great news. I expect this video to be around for awhile.

I'm starting to feel the annoyance of know-nothing teenage morons claiming that the cover is better. That always irks me to no end. What a bunch of tone deaf botched abortions. This is honestly the main reason I dread MJ covers. Stupid people always get the opportunity to open their stupid mouth with their stupid opinion, downgrading epic-ness just to back their stupid favorite band.

I know exactly waht u mean GMS.

However...people said the SAME thing about AAF's cover...and where are they now? LOL

I concur GMS! I hate those snot nosed kids saying MJ is gay, and a pedo, and Fob's cover is so much better than the original! Man I swear kids today are dumb, and have no taste. It is quite disturbing...

You can say that again Grand Master S. People who say FOB's cover is better are either lying to themselves or are actually tone deaf and have the IQ of a two-by-four. The same reason you stated for not liking covers is the same reason I usually don't like them either. I mean, to be honest, FOB's cover basically sucks. It's nice and cute that they did it and it's cool that they like Michael, but the song isn't something you could listen to more then once without having your ears bleed.

I loved it when I first heard it. I like Fall out boy, I think they did a great job on Beat it. :)

oh wait nvm I thought those were kids @ :30 rofl!!!

I listened to the song w/o the video first and to be honest, I didnt like it much.
Then I watched the video...that made it a little better for me.
It was alright.
I like the idea of a bit of most of MJ's videos incorporated into FOB piece.
The articles posted helped me in that perspective.
Thanks you guys. :)

this video is awesome. i love all of the references
i feel like Mike is everywhere these days lol

agree.
the music is okay but his voice and the video sucks esp his voice.

It's like i'm passing by a contruction site. that's how annoying it is.

the problem i have with the guys singing is that he sings the EXACT same way in every song. it's like he has only one note that he hits through the whole thing. it does get pretty irritating. i thought the cover though was really great. and as far as what other people think on youtube i really try and not pay mind to it anymore. why torture myself with negativity?

Wow! Their outfits are even MJ inspired. The song rocked. It has a modern edgier twist to it. Definitely makes you bop your head. I'm starting to like this on the same level as Michael's!!!

Is there a place to see the video online? You tube one got taken down due to copyright infringement.

On the Box Breakers chart on 'The Box' last night, Beat It was at number. It's been climbing for days, so I wouldn't be surprised if it climbed again in the next chart. Let's hope radio start picking up on this song and playing it soon - I haven't heard a thing about it on radio so far and it hasn't been added to radio 1s playlist at all.

I have just noticed that Wanna Be Startin 08 has recently been added to Capital FMs playlist and it is still listed on KISS FMs playlist (has been since before the album came out LOL)

Fall Out Boy 'Beat It' Playlisted by UK Radio1

Just thought you guys would like to know that 'Beat It' has been playlisted on radio 1's B-List. Not quite the A-list, but still good for a start. If the song proves popular then it will move up to the A-list.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/

If you like the song and appreciate the positive MJ coverage it could bring then support it by buying the single (it's download only) and requesting it to be played on Radio and any other stations you think would play it.

There is a topic running on Radio 1s rock message board for anyone that wants to leave positive comments.

A topic was started on the chart message board too, though nobody has replied (yet):

There is a request show on Saturday afternoons, so get those requests in:

Requests can be made to any DJ on any day though, so get requesting

Love this video so much! Especially the more obscure references such as the Captain Eo one!

Yeah this song is pretty good...better then i thought it would be. But it doesn't compare to Michael's version at all.... Michael's version was revolutionary to say the least. This song is an enjoyable re-make. It puts Michael's music out there...allows new listeners to enjoy some classic MJ with a new twist. Its a great idea which is why I would support a tribute album. However...what I really want is a brand new album!!
