This is IT!!!!

This was just posted on the twitter page:
"Just getting word from a source that Michael will formally announce his retirement through his PR shortly."

This really is sad day. I wonder why he is doing this? It makes me think that the rumors of health and finances are true. I wish the best for him, but it is hard to believe that will be the case…

Dont want to sound negative..and i really don't easily believe media bullshit...but maybe he IS having financial troubles, and that way forced to do these shows? And that might be the reason he wasn't particularly 'hyped' when he anounced it?

This is not it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: This was it.

new fans won't get it, but those of us who've been around for the ages know this is a really sad day. This is truly the beginning of the end of an ERA...of a MONUMENT ...of HISTORY...of a legacy...of a GIANT

What do you mean the new fans wont get it? I have only been a fan for 5 years and completely get it. I dont like what you just said. Michael Jackson means a hell of a lot to my life and him retiring will likely be one of the saddest days of my life.

Don't jump the Gun so quickly guys......with regards to his retirement..

Sure he is gonna quit live performing but there was no indication that there will be no New Album... n knowing Mike, he a master manipulater of the media. Every thing he said today was scripted... he probably did'nt speak a lot coz he did'nt wanna reveal a lot and did'nt wanna end the excitement in a days time. I thing there is enough room for speculation for the media (for days to come) from the words he used.

Im still hopefull that there will be a new Album out n that this is just the start..."for the curtains to go up" finally.

In all probabilty we will hear abt the Album near July..

vstreet, hang in there, ok? Michael has a way of surprising us. He stopped just short of announcing a retirement. Personally, I think he did that because he was hedging his bets. But seriously, he's fifty years old and tours were exhausting for him even when younger. I doubt he'll ever tour again and this was a way of easing fans into that understanding. This doesn't preclude smaller, more intimate venues if he chooses, in the future. We just don't know for certain. And there is still his beautiful voice!

"Mr. Jackson is in fine health, and finalizing negotiations with a major entertainment company & television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances"

Someone is lying.

I feel you too. I think that he's got other things on his mind right now.

Dont want to sound negative..and i really don't easily believe media bullshit...but maybe he IS having financial troubles, and that way forced to do these shows? And that might be the reason he wasn't particularly 'hyped' when he anounced it?

I may dout it!

I think,he is more about wanting to be more father then working back as stage artist.
We may or see, him realish cd`s again, very soon or later.

His retirement, may only mean as break for unknown lenght.
And he may, start little or again when his children is old enough.

We don`t know!
But for me,its oki he wants to retire!

HIS voice,is the only thing that matters for me!

I feel in a sense these concerts weren't organized out of the want to simply perform, just to perform. Maybe since the 25th Anniversary of Thriller just passed, MJ's realized his mortality as an artist. MJ could never just fade away, for him the end has to be very special or atleast in the limelight. Whether we are closer to the end than we think, I wish we got to see more out of MJ when he was in his 40's. And I still find it hard to believe that MJ at 50 is alot less passionate about his music and performing as say James Brown was well into his 70's.

been a fan nearly 3 years and i get it, its the end of the greatest (and final) song and dance (and a whole lot more) man. It is sad, but understand that he has been working for 45 of his 50 years here on earth, he needs to be able to make up his own mind about things. But its still an epic day in history if indeed this is his retirement farewell. He wont fade into obscurity, just wont be around as much, thank him for all he has given you.

Re: This is it!

Yeah its strange, it wasn't clear at all. I mean, what's the new website then for and everything? And why was it so specifically said "last shows I will do in London" lol

I have no idea what to think atm

I am so excited! Why the long faces by some people. Just to have him do a few shows is awesome. If he was so broke, why would he not do more tours/shows???

Same old shit from the media.

I really hope he is putting out a album though. Nothing was mentioned, why not advertise it? I don't know if there will be one, but I hope so.

The only comfort I have is that he paused when he said it would be his last show, then stated "IN LONDON." Hopefully these are successful and he finishes with a string of shows in Las Vegas…
yes i noticed that too,so he might mean his last shows in london.

Re: This is it!

The announcement to us devoted fans were bittersweet.

There's nothing to think about...just try and watch the shows....who knows when we will see such a legend on stage again.

the new website is for information dissemination and ticket sales.

^^ that's what got my attention as well.
But I just feel very thankfull that he is going to do this. Like I can't even describe how hearing him say that he was doing shows has made me feel :)
But hearing some of you talk about the end and stuff like that is bringing me down..
Right now I'm just going to focus on the positive and see what happens, because really all we know right now is that he is doing these shows, who knows if there is something more he will do.
I can understand if he doesn't want to perform after this because he is getting older afterall. I'm just really really happy that he is doing this and can't thank him enough for giving people a chance to see him live!
Just the hype of it all is exciting!

Wait a minute...
Is this make any sense that MJ is going to say "goodbye" to his fans just in London?...
I mean, he have many fans all over the world!

I don't know... I'm really confused right now...

And what about his new album? after he'll finally release his new album, he will not perform after that?...

God, sometimes I can't understand this man... :/

Well, he got you all excited in the past 2 days n today he has totally confused you and probably even made u said..... The man is doing alright..... he is string up a frenzy...

we probably will not hear him in the next month or 2... but im sure we will get more clarity as we near the New single release day....

"I dont think its over yet"

I want to ask you something...
Does it was look like an "announcement retirement" to you? if you ask me, the answer is - "No".

He told his fans in live that he is retiring with a big smile on his face???????????

Something here is really weird... think about that.

I hope he does other shows around the world. I just heard the press conference and he said these July shows are his last in London. Maybe that's a sign that he will be giving final concerts in other places. I hope he does go to Las Vegas because I will definitely be at that concert if he does come! I am not getting my hopes up too high on that just yet. I pray it happens though.

Im feeling really said now..
I mean indeed the press conference s*cked only 2 min of talking and not stating any new music?
I just dont get it!

Re: This was it.

I understand him retiring... He's been doing this forever and he's fifty and everything.
But it's still insanely sad that it's all ending. And that there will no longer be any speculation or hope for new things. The phrase "the final curtain call" is just so sad.
I was hoping "This is it." would refer to this is IT - the moment we've all been waiting for, not "this is it" - this is the end.
But I love him and I hope that he is happy

I think people are taking the 'This Is It' phrase way too far. To me the impression I got was that he meant 'this is it' as in this is last time he is ever going to perform in London/UK. Also what AEG and O2 have said on their website that 'these only this only shows he is going to do this year' leads me to think that he will be doing other shows elsewhere next year (perhaps the US) especially since his spokeperson said a string of appearances, concerts and tv specials have been planned.

I think MJ just meant he was retiring in terms of performing, that this will be his last time he will be doing concerts. I don't think he meant he was retiring full stop. I still think he will be making music and releasing albums otherwise why would he have been working with all these artists over the past couple of years or so.

Anyway I can completely see why he wants to wind down from performing, he's getting older now and he has kids and people can't expect him to be bustin moves at lightning speed and sing when he's in his 60's. I think people should be really happy that we are getting the opportunity to see him live in concert considering everything he's been through. I think first and foremost we should be really proud of him, because he is a true survivor and given us so much throughout his life.

Something here is really weird... think about that.

It isn't that weird. He loves his fans and the attention he receives from us. He went out there to announce his FINAL concerts (in London) but was overcome by the crowd and felt he still had to put on some sort of show. He was smiling only to hold back the tears…

This was a very sad conference. The finality of it all is truly sad.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: You can tell that something's not right.

Mike's heart is elsewhere.

The announcement of "this is it" was like Mike saying: Going once, going twice, I'll see you when I see you

I don't know how to say "goodbye" to the GREATEST entertainer that ever lived.

And then again... I mean Mike is 50... we're only kidding ourselves if we think Mike will be touring when he's 60 or 70. or 80...ha.
the thing is that I don't think michael would be saying goodbye if it wasn't for all the heartache that he has been put through this past 2 decades. The fans really got cheated because of malicious action of other. I was so not expecting this and it is SOOOO sad. I bout wanted to just cry. fa real. I still haven't processed it mentally either.

Re: This is it.

I saw the press conference and for some reason,i think that this is not it?
Rememeber he was not able to say why it is it?
Michael loves beingon stage. He misses it and he misses all of us.
I really have troubles beliving it will be the last time.
Rememeber back in dangerous time when he said it would be the last time as well?
He might want to make a last time. But in the end he does another one because it is strongger than himself,i think.
Plus i think that there must be a suprise coming.
It's Michael Jackson people! Please expect the unexpected whne you less count!
Who knows if he is not making another album?if he will tour again?if he will not stay for London only?
