NY Post - 2003 - about Jermaine and his attepmts for making a charity gigs...
Previously, it claimed — and Jermaine claimed on TV — that three organizations would benefit from this circus: Larry Jones’s children’s group that you always see flogged on middle of the night commercials; Larry King’s Cardiac Foundation, and Jermaine’s own Earth Care Foundation.

The problem is that Earth Care, which Jermaine has touted for years, does not exist. There is an Earth Care Foundation in New Mexico. They have nothing to do with him. They don’t even know who he is.

Twice in 2003 and at least once in 2001, Jermaine said in television interviews that he was behind something called EarthVision International. The organization does not exist, except maybe in Jermaine’s imagination.

Back on Sept. 8, 1997, Jermaine told Larry King that the Jackson 5 was getting back together for a benefit extravaganza called Earthvision ‘98. He said the 90-minute program would benefit a group he named as the Sunshine Foundation of Feasterville, Pa.

Jackson announced that the small group that grants wishes for ill children would get money by honoring “Muhammad Ali, Sophia Loren, Stevie Wonder and Bishop Desmond Tutufor their humanitarian achievements.”

Jermaine said Earthvision ‘98 would be broadcast live July 2, 1998, from the Heridon Theater in Athens, Greece.

The whole thing never materialized.

You are an outsider looking in and making judgements. The Jacksons grew up with each other, worked with each other, bickered with one another, suported one another and at Michaels toughest times, they were all there for him. I dont care about Word to the Badd, I dont care that Jermaine may have had brotherly issues with Michael in the past. Thats between them. When will fans learn that family ish is family ish?

Outlandish claims that no one in his family actually cared about him are farfetched and without foundation.

I for one, wish Jermaine all the very best for this tribute. Even if he's not the best person to be initiating a full scale tribute to Michael, I can only hope its a success.

I don't think the poster is being ridiculous as much as you aren't open to people having a different opinion. The reason Jermaine is getting ripped by people is his history of having done questionable things, I mean if we want to be honest this is the same man that betrayed his family and stayed at Motown for greener pastures or so he thought while they struggled in the mid 70s to regain their musical footing. Can you imagine how horrible that had to be for Michael who always had this big brother in his corner to suddenly be shouldered with carrying the entire group since the other brothers obviously didn't have the vocal talent of he or Jermaine. Bottom line you aren't any better calling this poster names such as ridiculous and otherwise when you aren't willing to try to understand that plenty of people have always been suspicious of Jermaine's motives. Whether it's bailing on his family in the 1970s, going after his brother verbally in a song, or sleeping with his other brother's wife, Jermaine has done plenty publicly without needing to be an insider for people to always have a jaded view of him. Instead of being angry because others don't see your view with rosey tinted glasses, understand there has been enough incidents for people to question what Jermaine is really up to. I didn't bother to touch on the 1 billion J-5 reunion promises he spoke of. Just because he has been conveniently available at times to seemingly have Mike's back doesn't mean he didn't have an ulterior motive to promote and elevate himself. It's his fault that people perceive him that way.
 
why isn't michaels charity up there? i dont understand this. poor michael :(
 
I don't know about Jermaine either, but I choose to leave it alone.

He's Michael's brother and he loved him, so I choose to love him too.

If Jermaine is doing something shaddy I rather let God handel it.

U2 to play at Jackson Tribute

U2 to play Jackson Vienna tribute - reports


U2 are reported to be among the line-up for the Michael Jackson tribute show which will be staged in Vienna next month.

According to the Associated Press U2 will perform alongside Madonna, Lionel Richie and Whitney Houston at the event.

Event organisers have yet to confirm the line-up, stating only that members of the late performer's family will appear with "a high profile line-up of international stars".

Jackson's brother Jermaine said in a statement on the World Awards Media's web site that the concert was conceived as an annual event to keep alive not only Jackson's music, "but his spirit as well".
He added: "He loved castles. And we're going to have this huge celebration in front of a castle."

Vienna's Schoenbrunn Palace, will serve as the backdrop for what organisers have billed as a "global" farewell tribute to Michael Jackson next month.

On its website World Awards Media said: "For one incredible night Michael Jackson's unforgettable music will be brought to life again.

"Some of the world's leading artists will perform Michael's greatest hits live in Vienna in front of one of the most fascinating historical sites in Europe and celebrate the life of the 'King of Pop'."
The 85,000 tickets for the show are due to go on sale on 20 August

Shawn King - the singer wife of U.S. journalist Larry King - had appeared on her husband’s TV show with Jermaine Jackson to officially announce the tribute.

Showing clear affection for Jermaine, Shawn had shown excitement for the September 26 show, promising “a lot of surprises”.

But now, despite being the only confirmed act, Shawn has announced she will not be attending.

Adding to rumours of troubles for the show, Shawn’s spokesman cited “prior commitments” - even though the singer had appeared on TV to talk about her involvement and excitement.

Although many big names have been touted around - including Madonna and U2 - no one has been confirmed, and some of those rumoured to be going have stated they are not involved.

Shawn’s spokesman insisted: “She still has great love and respect for Jermaine.”

My God. . . this is sounding worse and worse by the day! The family always seems to do this to Michael. They get him involved with their business dealings and then Michael is the one that gets burned in the end because he is the highest profile family member. Did it during the Victory tour and during that Jackson Family Honors thing.

Unfortunately, Michael is no longer here to say no and put his foot down from having some members of his family use his name and image. Can't believe I am saying this, but where is Branca and McClain in all of this?

Ouch! That's starting to look embarassing. The ticket sales (and the tribute date itself) are approaching fast and there aren't any confirmed acts, is that it? The U2 rumour sounds grand but I couldn't find anything about it on a couple of U2 websites I visited. So, I'm treating it as just a rumour. Hmmm....

Edit: Since the global superstars who take part are supposed to perform Michael's hits... Errmm... As much as I love U2, I can't quite picture Bono doing Billie Jean, Beat It or... Well... Maybe one of the ballads but... Oh well, never mind. ;D

i beleive they have a concert the night b4 in america so unless they can time travel its impossible
 
actually if they take a private plane right after the show they could make it. We dont really know if there are confirmed acts. I am guessing they won't release a lineup until they have the whole thing set.
 
the chances of that though arent much.the line up stories came from the austrian media.they sited madge and whitney aswell which both have denied ill be surprised if this even happens seeing as king has pulled out
 
artists go to one place to another even at that distance quite often. I work for an artist and we have done it. That being saif it very well could be a rumor. We will not know until the line up is announced. I definitely think it will still happen. Losing Shawn isnt a big deal to most.

Jermaine Jackson is learning a hard lesson -- the Jackson family doesn't take kindly to kinfolk who make promises on their behalf without even bothering to tell them.

You know the big flap over the Vienna Tribute concert -- where Jermaine was spearheading a special show and touting that members of Michael Jackson's family were behind it? Well family sources tell us the family is ticked that Jermaine used them to sell tickets. The family, we're told, never agreed to participate. In fact, Tito told us he was never even invited.

The family isn't happy with J.J. because the concert may now be in jeopardy and stories are being written that the brood caused the concert to crumble.

Bottom line -- Jermaine was out on his own (again) pitching his stuff and the family was out of the loop.

Your right this IS about Michael so stop the negativity about Jermaine We have no idea if the above thing is true.
 
if it was really all about michael then jermaine wouldnt even be doing this, jermaine is the shadiest of them all (imo)

what act have even been confirmed, more have denied it..

the 29th september? that day means nothing to michael or anyone.. it would make sense to hold this concert a year after his death with many big acts that loved michael .. like madonna, beyonce etc

& in london or los angeles or new york

i've been on other forums and most people agree.

After reading the book Jackson Family Values by his ex wife, I have found it hard to figure him out. I feel he seems to crave media attention which is sad.
 
I heard on the radio today that Usher and Lionel Richie had confirmed? Dunno how true that is though.
 
sure jerm woould be shouting it from rooftops if they had. their names were mentioned in media reports as possibilities but ive heard nothing else offically
