Barbara Walters to Profile Michaels Kids

I cannot imagine any of the Jacksons, both 2nd & 3rd generation, being happy at all the attention and press these 3 kids have been getting. Several of them want to have a career in showbiz and cannot even get their name in the press, so I can take a wild guess that there will be some jealousy. We know
MJ lived through a similar situation...and he got isolated because of rampant jealousy among the siblings. I really do hope the press stop following the kids to avoid situations that might become suffocating for them. The 3 being the center of attention cannot be good for them and their relation with their cousins.

Unfortunately, it aint gonna happen. Would be great for them if it would, but......

What she wanna know anyway?
If they wanna be just like their Daddy when they grow up?

This is disgraceful. Michael would be turning if he knew about this. The media needs to leave those poor kids alone-they've had a dreadful year and need to stop being followed by paps all the time and talked about by the media. Most kids of celebrities are left alone as they're not the stars-why are Michael's children any different?

This is sick. Michael worked so damn hard to protect those kids from things like this. They never asked to be celebrities. You'd think that these journalists would say to themselves "...these children are young, they have just lost the only parent they've ever known. Maybe I should acknowledge that these kids are not celebrities and that I have no right to bullish about them on air." Apparently Barbara Walters doesn't have a brain in her head. Does she not think? Michael told her that he wanted privacy for his children. He told her how life in the spotlight affected him and how he didn't want his children to go through that. What's so hard to understand? I am seriously angry. Someone needs to step up and protect them. Paparazzi should NOT be stalking these kids, and Walters should have a heart and know better then to film them at their father's memorial and create TV specials featuring them.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Seriously, these people would criticize Michael's skills as a parent even though he always did everything he could to protect them from this bull. And now they (Walters et al.) are doing even more harm by starting to create a buzz around the children when that's the freakin' last thing they need right now. They're just kids who never chose to be in the limelight, their father knew that and it's about time the media start respecting that.

Isn't interesting who the kids are catagorized with?
Walters has named Kate Gosselin , but not her estranged hubby — the pudgy, womanizing, palling-around-with-muttonheads-like-Michael-Lohan speciman that is Jon Gosselin — as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.

Kate Gosselin joins Sarah Palin, Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga, Brett Favre, Tyler Perry, Glenn Beck and Jenny Sanford, wife of philandering South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, on Walters' annual list. She'll interview each of the designated fascinators in an ABC special on Dec. 9.

Why has the family allowed this? These kids need a better lawyer.

rolling eyes. palin i can believe walters would find fascinating. they fit each other. the rest of these... barbara finds fascinating.... riggggggght. so sad when the irrelevant don't know when to take a bow and fade away. there are others could cover anyone on this list much more fashionably than this senior citizen.

I find her to be a HUGE hypocrite now. This morning on The View she was slamming Perez Hilton for linking an image of Demi Moore's youngest daughter. Perez said there is a difference because Demi's teenage daughter is an actress, therefore she's a public figure. Yet the women said celebs children should be OFF LIMITS. Yet she is going to put them on her show!?!?!?! WTF! Oh yeah, she was seated right behind the children at the memorial and her assistant was taping Paris holding on to Katherine and Prince was playing with his gum. She showed it on The View after the memorial.

 Unbelievable! Why does she see it with others, but not with Michael's kids? He did not want them to be put on display! Ugh!

This leads me to the question: If Paris or any of MJ's kids, wants to be an entertainer, like Paris said in a home video when she was younger, I know that Michael wanted his kids to be - ANYTHING THEY WANTED TO BE...- if they want to be in this business, what do you think Michael would say to them about it? And you think MJ would support his kids being in this business??- When they are older....

What is wrong with this woman? By profiling the kids, she is making it appear as if they are celebrities in their own right, who have chosen to be famous, which sends a message to the paps that its ok to follow them around and rob them off their freedom!

Nothing could be further from the truth! They're still grieving, for God's sake! They deserve to be left in peace and have normal childhoods. They have no say in the matter. They should be allowed to choose if they want to be in the public eye.

I wish Michael was here to protect them..sigh..

He mentioned it in his interview with Baba Wawa (where she was rude as hell to him despite saying 'I don't mean to be rude' just seconds before). He said if his kids wanted to get into show business, he'd tell them 'hold on now' and explain to them what they would have to deal with. He'd lay it all out for them. I think Mike would be very supportive of (for ex.) Prince becoming a film maker/director.

Did the family authorize this?

The children are NOT celebrities - they do not have SAG cards, do not belong to any singing, acting union/guild, & they have not appeared on television or on stage in any professional capacity. How did this get authorized? How can underage children be profiled? Using pictures from the memorial and speculating on how the children are coping? That's hardly Barbara Walters style....

We'll see if the family has something to do with this.

 I wouldn't be surprised. Sounds like something Joe and Jermaine would be a part of. You're right though; they can't just interview the children without someone's permission. Surely Katherine wouldn't approve??? She would know how Michael would feel about that.

she is just wanting to be the first to 'talk' with those kids... :( I am not saying 'right now' but imho i think that she may be trying to 'prepare' for an interview later on as they get older perhaps.. I still feel as they are children they should be left alone.

She doesn't deserve to talk to them anyway with how she treated Michael. It won't do any good whatsoever to write to the show or BW herself. They are doing it for ratings and money ONLY. The only thing that can stop it is Michael's family, and I doubt they will. That's who we need to try to contact.

I really don't understand how it is legal to profile minors like this (bearing in mind that they are not celebrities in their own right). We also have to wonder how come they are so much in the spotlight since their father's death. OK, some of the attention directed at their father would be redirected onto them, but a lot of the excitement before was due to MJ's presence. Is the family really doing all they can to protect their privacy?

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I hope someone with proper authority would indeed step up and say NO. I looked at Ms Walter's tweets and judging by how much she goes on and on about Sarah Palin, she may well be the center of her attention. She should leave the children well alone!

Walters scores Jackson kids interview ... sort of

Barbara Walters’ “Most Fascinating People” special doesn’t air until Dec. 9, but the subjects of her annual show are slowly being announced. Among them: Lady Gaga, South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford, and perhaps the most fascinating thus far, Michael Jackson’s kids Paris, Prince and Blanket.

Because the family has so fiercely protected the kids’ privacy, the idea of them appearing for an interview was compelling. But don’t get too excited: according to several sources familiar with the level of access granted to Walters, she didn’t actually get the kids on camera for a fresh interview. Instead, older footage will run. “The kids have been doing best as they possibly can,” said one family friend. “Rebbie (Michael’s sister) has been taking great care of them. One thing the family is mostly in agreement about is that the kids’ privacy should be as protected as possible.”

It was noted in another article that Barbara Walters will also include footage from her interview with Michael back in the day.

I say, why the heck not name Michael as one of the 10 persons as opposed to targeting his children?

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds and I do agree some approval seems to have been granted.

I wont be watching. Period. BW can kiss it. I can't stand her or the organization she belongs too. Not after all the crap they threw at Michael. It all doesn't need to be rehashed. Moving on...And as I've said before, leave those babies alone.

Just as I thought. They won't show anything we have not seen before.

Ay ay ay. Well, at least some preservation of their privacy is still present.
Its a bunch of b.s. though: they are kids! If she wanted to talk about fascinating she should talk about Michael, not the kids. As an adult he made the cognizant decision to remain in the public eye and he learned the effects of that. They are kids, they are not celebrities(though they are famous) and as such should be granted some decency form the press. He feircly guraded their privacy to protect them and I wish it would remain that way! It is just digusting she's doing this for the ratings:puke:

I have a feeling that this wouldn't happen. I know how protective of the kids privacy the family has been and an interview is out of the question. Old rehashed stuff would be brought up along with some old video clips probably.
