I've started watching it on youtube and I like it, its funny!

The brothers speak the truth about Jermaine and his love of attention hah! They make it light and funny..

Tito : 'Jermaine say he's jokin but he'd sing everything including the background if we'd let him!' Lol.

Jermaine said MJs success comes from us, meaning, MJ started from the Jackson 5, which he did, but yeh was a major part of J5 and he was an amazing performer all on his own.

Jackie is the sweetest thing.

It was pretty telling when he told Tito and Jermaine 'I'll tell you one thing I don't wanna have, conflict amongst you brothers whilst making this record.. I can't deal with that' and they sit there stunned for a second and then Jermaine :'Good luck.'

I disagree with someone who said that they don't see them having drive or ambition except Jermaine. I think it is very evident during the program that Jackie appears to be very pasionate and driven about what they're planning and really into it. [It was Jackie's track they were working with at first wasn't it...is he a producer or something cuz he was workin with his son Siggy.] Tito also..'Its Tito time'! Lol.

It was so sweet when they were on the phone to Janet and all saying I love you, I love you. Lovely.

There are some very bitter and meanspirited Mj fans in this thread. wow. And isn't this the media that used to ABUSE Michael jackson while he was alive, should they now turn on the jackson brothers are we condoning them now?
the good thing is that the brothers have each other and their children to bounce off, i doubt they will be affected too much by these jealous articles that has now targetting them since MJ is no longer their whipping boy.

Yeh, I think its pretty twisted the promotion of negativity about the Jackson family, whichever members.

Its time to stop believing and following the tabloid junk, we should know by now what they do.

Yeh, there are some things we know about a couple of the brothers..
but the tabloids expand on that to create stories and other stuff which is just complete junk..they take a little bit of something truthful and twist it, expand it and they lie.. its mean and its hurtful, and we should know by now. People have the complete wrong image of MJ because of them.

The first two hours of The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, which aired last night, was rather sad, and I don’t just mean because it reminded us all over again what a void the death of Michael Jackson had left not only in the Jackson family but on the world-stage.

Begun before Jackson died, A Family Dynasty is now a series of squabbles and desperation-moves, although it’s impossible to tell whether, had he lived, Michael would have taken much of a prominent role in what amounts to a rehab of the Jackson brothers’ faded popularity:
Certainly the Jackson who comes off worst on this six-part series is Jermaine, who blows off a family photo-shoot and flies off to Vienna to promote a Michael tribute concert without his brothers’ involvement (and that subsequently fell apart).

Why did he, listed among the executive producers, even agree to allowing such botches to be included here? I guess the prospect of getting back in the spotlight was too powerful to resist. One thing that seems obvious: I doubt that the other Jackson with a real career, Janet, will be popping up too often on this docu-psycho-drama.

The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty

Yes, yes, it's probably true that no one would be watching a reality show about Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, and Marlon Jackson planning a reunion tour were it not for the death of their brother Michael earlier this year. But that doesn't mean The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, a six-part series, doesn't exert its own odd pull.

This is reality TV at its most stage-managed and controlled. Watching it, you know that the brothers (all listed among the executive producers) are not letting you see one second of their lives they don't want you to see.

Which makes some moments — such as Jermaine blowing off a publicity-photo shoot with his brothers (he claims he had pinkeye) or jetting off to Vienna to announce a solo tribute concert when he's supposed to be rehearsing for a Jacksons tour — all the more intriguing. Just what good did Jermaine think he was doing letting this stuff be shown?

The men try to fit into TV-friendly roles: Marlon, he's the joker! Tito, he means business! But when they come together, these middle-aged guys all squabble and complain. They're filmed in the recording studio trying to cut a new track. After Jermaine leaves, Jackie instructs the engineer to erase Jermaine's lead vocals. ''It didn't have that Jackson 5 magic,'' he says. Later, Jermaine professes to be hurt, but not unduly so, given the nature of this insult. Maybe it's because this Jackson 4 realizes that without Michael, it will never attain ''that Jackson 5 magic'' again.

The theme music for A Family Dynasty is ''Can You Feel It,'' a hit for the Jacksons in 1980. Tellingly, the song was co-written by Randy, who doesn't appear as a regular on this show, and Michael. It only serves to remind you what an uphill battle the other brothers face in trying to stay in the public eye. C+

It is true that Michael's success STARTED from them with the J5. What he fails to acknowledge is that THEIR success came from Michael's talent. Without Michael's unique talent, the J5 likely would never have had the success that they did. And they had NOTHING to do with Michael's later success. That was all his own hard work and talent. Michael doesn't owe them anything. He supported them all for years and continues to support their children through his mother. Enough is enough. Time for the remaining Jacksons to stand or fall on their own and leave Michael and his tailcoats alone.

It’s emblematic: the Jackson 4, who never had to fight the battles Michael did, have talent and charm, but those traits appear to be outweighed by self-absorption and arrested development. “Michael’s success comes from us,” Jermaine says. He’s right, in a narrow sense, and also profoundly, sadly wrong.

The NYT is using the same kind of unfounded smears they used on Michael: "childish," "arrested development,"... I'd like to see ANY family try to pull together to make something like this happen without some friction. Such pathologizing adjectives are simply irresponsible. They're simply shifting to the Jacksons all the hate they had for Michael, but is now less correct to state. I would bet that the full quote about "Michael's success comes from us" is far more nuanced than the NYT makes it out to be, that it has been taken out of context, and that there are caveats and a more humble tone than is portrayed. I'm getting mad at the media all over again... I may have to swear off reading any reviews of this, I've so had it with them.

anyone have the clip where jackie tells the man to erase jermaine's vocals then they get mad at each other and their mother tells them to go back to gary,indiana but then only marlon,tito and siggy go?

Just out of curiosity, anyone has heard anything about the ratings for last Sunday's 2 shows? I am guessing they must not have been too good, since A&E did not Put out a release

I read about Oprah's special with Obama, but nothing on the Jacksons Dynasty.

I can only imagine the dynamic in that group. MJ singing 95% of the lead, Jermaine must have hated that.

He did not become lead-obsessed after MJ passed. I am sure it is something that has been bugging him for years. Because he was originally the lead until that 5 year old kid came along. LOL.

How can Jermaine say he wasn't jealous of MJ, when it is obvious he has been yearning for the spotlight so badly?

Those first two episodes confirm that Jermaine & Michael were not close.

I just watched the show for the first time. thanks very much.
Nobody can fully understand what it must be like to be thrown into the world of show business at such a young age. what makes the Jacksons so unigue is that they were ALL in the business and they had nobody else to bounce off and they could never separate their lives cause they were all living together.
It is obvious that they were sibling rivalries in the group. there were those that were closer than others. Jermaine and Jackie were always having a go, Tito and marlon probably was closer. Jermaine and Michael were always close maybe because they were the lead singers.
It is also obvious from this show that the Jackson brothers were not the ones pushing to do a show and certainly not Jermaine as he didn't even make up his mind to do the show. How this show was planned without their concsent I will never know.

So true, Jermaine must have hated it, that the then 5 year old kid was better than his then 9/10 year old self lmao.
The 5 year old "stealing" his part is something that the 55 year old Jermaine still isnt over yet, after over 45 years.

I don't think Mj started out as lead singer of the group. I think he started like Randy, playing bongo. Jermaine continued to be the lead singer of the group until Mj was about 8 or 9 years old. the 2 also shared the lead. Which worked very well for the group. There are a number of songs on Youtube which jermaine sang Lead in. my Girl is one of them. Mj said he got his skills from Jermaine.
