Michael Jackson Death Investigation Complete (TMZ - merged)

By TMZ staff:

Dr. Conrad Murray just hired a brand new Hollywood lawyer to defend him against expected criminal charges in the death of Michael Jackson -- and his new legal eagle once got Britney Spears off the hook.

As TMZ first reported, the LAPD is preparing to present the case against Murray to the L.A. District Attorney in a matter of weeks, so it's no coincidence that Murray lawyered up with J. Michael Flanagan -- a guy who repped Britney in a 2007 hit-and-run case.

Flanagan managed to get the charge dismissed in the Britney case -- we're guessing he's going to have a tougher time with Doc Murray.

Dr. Conrad Murray's new lawyer claims he's the best of the best when it comes to cases involving Propofol and death -- and dude has the track record to prove it.

TMZ spoke to J. Michael Flanagan who told us, "I'm probably the only attorney in town that has successfully tried a Propofol case involving death."

Back in 2004, Flanagan defended a nurse who was accused of wrongly administering the stuff to a patient who later died. The nurse was charged with involuntary manslaughter -- the same crime we're told the D.A. is likely to charge Murray with. But with Flanagan by her side, the nurse was acquitted.

As for Murray's role in the Michael Jackson case, Flanagan told us, "I am totally unaware of any facts that would give rise to an involuntary manslaughter charge."

As TMZ first reported, the LAPD is expected to hand over their case to the L.A. District Attorney in a matter of weeks. We're told the D.A will almost certainly criminally charge Murray in MJ's death.

so please no need to panic , we have to wait and see what they are going to charge him with . obviously Murray's attorney were hoping it would be JUST an involuntary manslaughter from the very beginning when chernoff took him to do the interview with the police , from the lawyer's words you can feel a sense of relieve on their part , but I don't think that would be the case at all . the time of death, the delay , the lies ....etc NO WAY it is just an involuntary manslaughter .

I have no idea how this stuff works, but is it possible that everything that went on after mj actually passed, 'the coverup', and murrays conflicting stories could be bunched together as a seperate conspiracy charge? Or is it more likely that they include all of that stuff with the other charges (ie. negligence) to build it up to look like gross disregard on murrays part and therefore go for a murder2 charge?

Didn't we recieve a media report months ago that in addition to the LAPD's Investigation, there were also independent Investigations going on by the DEA as well as the BNE( Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement) and the D.A.'s office?????

When I first read that, I took it to mean the case was already in the hands of the D.A. and other Law officials.

Anybody elese remember or have that article?

yeah that article was posted the very next day the DEA raided Micky pharmacy , they were investigating other doctors , I do believe the only one that his ass on fire is Klien , and for reasons that have nothing to do with MJ . the GA stated at the time that the number of doctors being under investigation reported in the media were not accurate , and that it did not have to do with MJ's case only .

Klien and Micky pharamcy were doing some shady things and they were the target of the investigation

Yeah, I think investigations of the pharmacies, Klein, and other doctors are mostly separate from the investigation of Michael's death? What happened to Michael brought a lot of stuff out from the shadows, and I hope the LAPD are following through on all of this. There are various agencies involved, including the LAPD and the DEA. This will have fall-out for a long time to come.

they will be most definitely under a separate conspiracy charge which will be the easiest to prove .

And he's totally bullshitting right?

don't know what would be his reaction when the coroner report confirms MJ was dead for hours . let's see what he will say then

First we are hearing manslaugter, then they are deciding whether to make a more serious charge, then their's news the investigation could continue till next year while TMZ says it is COMPLETE.

It's always like that... Just be patient! Even if it's hard...

the case will take another year, and during that it will be an ongoing investigation . we went through the same in 2004 and 2005 .

Yeah, I know.

I just wrote that because I don't think any of this is even true. Their is nothing OFFICIAL.

I hope that it's not just involuntary manslaughter they are going to charge him with. I really hope so for the sake of the LAPD

I'm disgusted by the fact that its all coming together and this man seemingly has a 80% chance of being able to walk out of the courtroom with a slap on the wrist.

Prosecutor Who Put Away Phil Spector Assigned To Michael Jackson Case

The Los Angeles County D.A.s Office is bringing out the big guns following the conclusion of the investigation into the death of Michael Jackson.

RadarOnline.com can exclusively report that Patrick Dixon, the prosecutor that helped put the once great musical genius Phil Spector behind bars, is now going after the man many say is responsible for the death of another musical genius, Michael Jackson.

With the investigation into the death of Jackson officially concluded by the LAPD, it is expected that Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, will be charged in the near future with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the superstar's untimely passing.

RadarOnline.com has learned that it is likely Dixon will be joined on the case by Alan Jackson, who also helped get the conviction in the high profile Spector murder case.

Dixon is Head Deputy District Attorney, and Alan Jackson is a Deputy District Attorney. Dixon is also head of the Major Crimes Unit. The two are known as legal pit bulls that will rest at nothing to put their man behind bars.

In an exclusive statement to RadarOnline.com, Sandi Gibbons, PIO for the D.A.s office says, "Pat Dixon is the head deputy of the Major Crimes Division. He assigns attorneys to cases. A deputy district attorney in the Major Crimes Division has been working with LAPD and coroner's office on the case."

Meanwhile, Dr. Conrad Murray has hired powerhouse Hollywood attorney, Michael Flanagan.

Flanagan tells RadarOnline.com, "I have been retained to represent Dr. Conrad Murray and Ed Chernoff is my co-counsel."

Flanagan said he had just been "hired this past week," and doesn't know what if any charges Dr. Murray will be facing.

Where is he getting the money to pay for such an attorney. ARe they doing it for free to get publicity? I don't think so because it could backfire and Doc could get convicted and that could hurt the attorney's business. Someone is backing him.

I had the very same feeling.

I had the same thoughts. Where does this asshole get the money from? Who is paying this attorney? Is he working for free?

Murrays defense team is probably going to drag Michael's name through the mud. It's gonna get ugly, I think.

I've said that from day one. They are going to try their best to make him seem like he asked for it and the media will make a turn around and get on the defense bandwagon. That is how it works over here. Mark my words.

the same people who donated money to Janet Arvizo during the trial , would be very welling to help Murray
