The Girl is Mine, Cry, HIStory, One More Chance, Liberian Girl and many more in my opinion, although there's no such thing as a bad single when it comes to MJ. Hold My Hand is heart warming and beautiful.

I agree with Roosje. IMO, HMH is a better song than TGIM, Cry, OMC and BOTDF. It is classic MJ in that it is simple but hummable.

Give it some time. I remember the hatred for Scream in early 95. There was even a website devoted to it being MJ's worst song. Now that is an MJ classic (I consider it one of his 10 best).

Just wish MJ had laid down an additional verse but the song length is welcomed considering some of the overly long songs on Invincible.

i'm not starting arguments...i'm starting a discussion about the quality of HMH...and the only way to appreciate the quality of HMH is to compare it with other MJ tracks.

This kind of debate don't kill anybody...
 
Nooo HMH keeps dropping :( #17 now in Finland. Why is the video released so far away?
 
I hope some promotion for the song and album get going because I have heard nothing on the radio. I keep hearing new songs from other artists but no Michael. I got it on itunes and left my friends listen to it otherwise they never heard about it.
 
I have not heard any advertising either. However, I bought the song and shared with others. I guess it is up to the fans to advertise Michael's music from now on.
 
I bought the song 4 times via iTunes. Wondering if it ever come out in the CD form!

Taste in music is ultimately subjective. There is no absolute definition of musical quality. One person dislikes a song, another loves it. We all have an opinion which is valid from our self centered point of view. It is not the correct view, it is merely our own view. We have every right to express our view of this song, but along with that right comes the responsibility to do so in a way that is considerate of Michael and other board members.

Michael was excited about this song. He wanted it to be released as a single. You don't have to agree with him concerning the quality of the song, but please do not callously criticize his work. Plenty of us appreciate HMH. I have listened to year after year of people comparing every song he put out to their favorite song from Thriller or Off the Wall. He had to listen to that too. Over and over and over again. I wish everyone could have just appreciated what he was doing for what it was instead of evaluating it by how much it sounded like Thriller. Now that he is gone, all we will ever have is what he left behind. It will never be ideal because of his absence. But I wish we could appreciate this song for what it is. The unfair prejudging and criticism brought him a lot of grief and pain in life. I wish here on this board, at least for this one song which Michael liked and approved, we could just appreciate it and enjoy it and leave the criticism and debate for another time and place.

Who said you can't be a fan if you give constructive criticism? I like HMH but do I love it- no! Maybe I just expect too much from Mike after all the great songs he gave us. Sorry.

The thing that gets me about HMH is because plz forgive me.. I really don't want to think this way but... his singing on this track is just off.... OMG, I'm sorry Mike... I honestly believe as a singer he could do so much more better... I mean look at The Girl is Mine (good lyrics, and beat but can be corny), Mike's singing style in this song really saved it from being lame. Another example is Girlfriend or You are not alone. Those two tracks can easily be fillers but the way it's produced and Mike's style of singing really enhanced it even more. It became more soulful and inspirational.

HMH is also more Akon less Mike. In the chorus, it's Akon who's singing most of it and Mike is just leaving 'yeah..and ohss.." here and there. :/

BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN, I'M NOT SUPPORTING IT. I bought it already okkkayyy before anyone trips over this. xD

I don't know. I don't remember reading that in this thread. What would be the "constructive" point of criticizing HMH? Certainly Michael isn't here to benefit from your advice. Not that he would need your advice or anyone else's if he was here.....

Especially now since it's pointless. :(

Anyways, Michael is known to have good music. People might not like him but they like his music. He's always been known to release QUALITY music... and that's why I'm butt-hurt. I don't want people to say he lost it or something like that. It makes me sad. Though Michael is resting now, his name continues to be tarnished... I love Mike and it honestly pains me to not like some of the stuff in his new album. I don't blame Mike but more so the management especially because he's not here anymore... :cry:

Hopefully, HMH grows on me one day... and I hope to learn to appreciate it for what it is someday.

R+B singer AKON is set to oversee MICHAEL JACKSON's comeback album, after hinting he has signed the King Of Pop to his own record label.

Jackson enlisted the talents of the Smack That hitmaker to produce his forthcoming comeback album, and now Akon has suggested the project is to be released under his own imprint, Konvict Music.

He tells MTV.com, "When (Jackson's) record comes out, read the label."

Meanwhile, Jackson has repaid the favour by lending his vocals to Akon's new track, entitled Hold My Hand, which will be featured on the star's forthcoming album Acquitted.
 
I absolutely LOVE his vocals in HMH. He sounds amazing. Personally i think he sounded better then he ever had. Just beautiful.

So far today, 'HMH' has been played twice on Radio1 and three times on Radio2 - and it's only just gone 10am!!

Has there been any confirmation of a 'physical' CD release? Perhaps Smooth can ask his Sony contact?

Where are you Smooth? ;-)
