Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

We all know that the potential #1 are between Taylor Swift, MJ(THE KING OF POP) and Susan Boyle

MJ (Aka AppleHead)

itunes : #4
Amazon : #4

Susan Boyle

itunes : #50
Amazon : #2

Taylor Swift

itunes : #14
Amazon : #1

So so far, MJ will have a #1 I think. AND In Canada too

I'd like some proof Deano.

Yesterday you wrongly stated that "Michael wasn't selling anywhere near enough to beat Take That" on HMV, yet Michael was No.1 on that site and remains there today.

Where did you find these new figures?

...

What we are relying on here is in-store purchase power. Amazon and I-Tunes sales are LOWER than This Is It which indicates it will perform lower.

Not necessarily. But we'll see. I think many people bought "This Is It" digitally just to listen those unreleased tracks but not necessarily because of the album. "Michael" is different because it's an "all-new" album with a much more interesting booklet, cover and all...

Its really hard to compare THIS IS IT.. because you know mj death was still in people mind, and all the this is it promo for the movie etc.. !

And lets not forget that people knew it was going to be good (instant classic mj hit).

Its a different story with the new album

First UK is probably flop now US .... so sad
Next week media will make a huge buzz that "Michael" didn't sell well...
You're blaming the media? What exactly are you doing? It was released only yesterday in the UK, and today in the US, yet ur the one shouting flop from the top of ur lungs, ur in no position to point at anyone considering ur own actions as a so called fan. SMH

That's what I've been meaning. It looks like Michael sells like "good enough" all around when many artists sell their stuff especially somewhere. Look at Boyle for example. She's only #50 on iTunes because she sells less digital or at least for iPod users imo. If you are in TOP5 almost all around, you are usually very high on the charts because the overall sales count. But we'll see.

I don't blame media - I just want hear and see next week how well Michael sells.
That's all.

I'm not the author of "first poor charts position for Mike means flop".
I still strong believe for huge success.

MJ should be #1 in the US. He just has to beat 250,000 copies that Boyle will sell. Swift will sell about 180,000 to 200,000.

Well, you can't compare the holiday season sale to Halloween sale.

"Michael" might be selling as many or more copies than This is it did in October (on itunes & amazon), but because holiday sales are a lot higher, he is down on the charts when compared to a dead season .

He has been in the top 10 for over a week, since the oprah show...so it's anyone's guess how many copies he has sold in the past week.

And lastly, MJ's album is being sold in drugstores, very unusual places....so we won't really know how he is performing until HDD tomorrow afternoon.

MJ is up, now #3 on itunes. Anyone's watching the Lisa Marie interview? any "Michael" ads?

Well am worried because ''this is it'' went straight to number 1 when it was released
Amazon.com accounts for 20% of weekly album sales and Itunes album sales varies in respect to age of the artist.younger artist higher % of itunes album sales compared to older artists

I would just pick some of the artists that had the highest 1st week sales this year to illustrate my point.
for example kanye sold 496,000 copies and 45% were itunes sales[224,000]
http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/ch...ng-nov-28-2010-the-king-and-queen-of-hip-hop/

Taylor sold 1,047,000 and 278,000 of total sales were digital [itunes mainly]
Eminem sold and 741,000 and 255,000 digital copies
Drake sold 447,000 and 103,000 digital copies
Most young artist sells about 25 to 50% of their albums digitally

Compare the above artists to older ones like
Sade who sold 502,000 and 91,000 were digital sales
Susan boyle sold 318,000 and digital sales was less than 10% of total sales
And even some young ones like usher sells just above 10% digital copies
usher sold 329,000 and 46,000 were digital sales

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_watch/56629/week-ending-june-27-2010-eminem-tops-garth/

In short for older artist Itunes sales might not give the right picture in respect to sales, hopefully in-store sales would be more bouyant.

When I go onto the I Tunes album chart on my I Phone, it shows the Michael album as #4 in the UK, Take That have just overtaken Michael.

Album NOW OUT In Japan ! (Remember they are ahead of our time)

Already moving up in amazon now #8 and #23 with good reviews (Yes 2 albums are charting ! an Import and the originial one lol)

itunes so far : Cant see it, cant find it either in the michael section.. dont know if it will be actually released in digital form ?

What do you think about the UK? Michael is No.1 on HMV, No.2/3 on Itunes (keeps changing) and as far as I am aware, its selling well in supermarkets etc. Its not doing so well on play.com with it being currently at No.12 and its No.15 on Amazon (these are both sales of physical CDs, I can't find the MP3 chart)

Danish iTunes chart:

Michael #1

HMH #11 (it was 16 earlier today)

The Glee cast is scary to be honest, hope they wont take a position of michael

GLEE CAST COLUMBIA 193,781 +51%
CHRISTMAS ALBUM

US Itunes
#3 at the moment

UK Itunes
at the moment #2

US iTunes:
#3 :)
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/stuff/iTunes.php?genre=USalbums

And we've got final result for this week:

1 SUSAN BOYLe 238,71

2 TAYLOR SWIFT 201,318

3. GLEE CAST 193,781

I can't see Boyle selling more than 238K next week. Same for Taylor. I think MJ will be # 1...but I was hoping for a HUGE 1st week sale.

Anyone went to a Best Buy or a Walmart this afternoon? I am curious to know how he is performing there.

US iTunes songs:

62. Hold My Hand (single)
90. Hold My Hand (from album)
93. Monster
263. (I Can't Make It) Another Day

Monster is doing great. It must be next single!

Wow, MICHAEL has been #1 in Germany i-tunes for 4 days now!

Monster will be the next single, I've been told this by my own personal source in Sony.
