The main issue I personally don't feel comfortable with is creative: the fact that 'MJ' is being made to perform a song he never performed. It's not the same as playing old footage in a new way imo, it's creating something new. It would be different for me if they'd, for instance, made a hologram of the Motown 25 performance and present that in its original form. The latest reports do seem to suggest that they used some original footage, but I wonder to what extent they could have. How does one go from some footage of MJ recording Slave to the Rhythm in a studio to a virtual project giving, apparently, a full-out performance of the song? We'll just have to wait and see what happens, I guess!

Yes, I admit the analogy is not the best, but I think if we can see it for what it is (not Michael's "resurrection" or not Michael himself) it's OK. It's just like with a magic trick about that you know it is a trick and an illusion, but it still can be entertaining.

I'm super excited about this too! The awards starts 3:00 am Finnish time and I'm gonna get up and see the performance. :)

I just hope the hologram (or whatever it is) is the real MJ and not Navi or any other impersonator. That would be a HUGE letdown for me.
 
so damn exciting for this, as it's getting closer to show time.. i can feel goosebumps already.. this is gonna be so very memorable. i don't care what anyone says, this will be the true highlight of the last five years.

it's confirmed to be newly unearthed footage from slave to the rhythm that the estate never knew existed.

I'm not excited for this at all. Resurrecting the music, sure, but resurrecting the man... No. That's a bridge too far for me.
 
I think it's going to be amazing. Feel a bit sorry for whoever has to perform after him though. Talk about stealing your thunder.

Couldn't agree more. Michael might not even have liked the damn song! If it was a hologram of Billie Jean from a concert performance that's pushing it but to do a whole new song he never heard and may have hated is a massive no for me.

Why don't we just wait until we see for ourselves and then we can all give our honest opinions afterwards.

i can't contain myself, only a few hours to go until this world premier holographic presentation is displayed at the 2014 Billboard Music awards at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas! source material is newly unearthed footage of Michael performing slave to the rhythm, who's ready to see this? i've got the link bookmarked and i'm gonna get my groove on...

don't start talking about Justin Bieber please, he's a pathetic & spoilt little brat and no one cares about him. This is michael's night, he is making tv history again... and it will be very memorable! nothing will come close to this for a LONG, long time..

He told me when I met him at Heathrow airport in 2007 that he wouldn't mind if a hologram was used of him aslong as it was on the 18th of May 2014 and at an awards ceremony.

Beautiful words bee, tonight will be the perfect & emotional ending to the xscape project.. the excitement has been tremendous.. i have loved everything about it, Michael's legacy is being dealt with extremely well.. i don't think like he is gone.. but as though he is here to stay... and continue to thrill the world, the fans are Michael's family.. we stick together through thick and thin because of our king.. he is always in our hearts, who will be watching the live stream tonight? i know i will, the link is here:- http://www.watchbbma2014.com/ :heart: :angel: :imbad :wild: :cheeky:

Was looking at this awhile ago... but they also mentioned that it is new technology that has never been done before. Far different from Tupac. Not a hologram, not even, quote, "digital" so I'm very curious as to WHAT this technology is that they spent 2 and a half years making.
