Could Michael Jackson be performing on "American Idol" finale?

Does the finale night of "American Idol" look like a foregone conclusion? The judges gave it to David Archuleta over David Cook Tuesday night, which might reduce the audience. Or did viewers disagree with the judges?

Fox will need something to hook viewers. In an interview with "Extra," Paula Abdul said of Wednesday's secret entertainment: "I think it's MJ."

She didn't mean Mary J. Blige. When "Extra" asked if Abdul believed Michael Jackson was performing, she said, "I have a sneaking suspicion."

Was Paula having a lucid moment? Will MJ help the ratings? Or cause a mass tuneout? Let's see what Fox says as the day goes on. What do you think?

Update: A Fox spokeswoman sounded utterly surprised when asked
Wednesday morning about a Jackson performance.

Rasta, you threw me for a loop, with today's businessman report. LOL! I had no idea that Sony/ATV owned any Frank Sinatra songs. I'm blown away, Michael Jackson IS the man! Those happen to be some of Mr. Sinatra's greatest hits. Good grief, I'm totally impressed.

As to the American Idol report. Ain't it funny how everytime American Idol announces that there will be a surprise performance from "the world's biggest star," the first name folks start throwing around is the name Michael Jackson.

I mean, they asked Paula Abdul and the first thing she said was "I think it's MJ."

As for Paula being on Extra last night - I do not remember her saying MJ. Maybe they edited it or something, but I do not remember her saying MJ. Anyway, I will see it when I believe it. Plus, Paula is a bit loopy, so......

As far as what Paula said...meh, it sounds like again they might be using Michael's name to boost up ratings.

Oh and if that dude who I've never heard of doesn't want to meet Mike then whatever, he's one in millions. :)

we have had these rumors each season and it seems obvious that the mere mention of the possibility that Mike will be there, boosts the ratings or at least ensures some of them will remain.

Not gonna get my hopes up to high but i have to tell y'all ... I want to get excited and act like a school girl, at the simple thought of him even appearing and standing there smiling.

Wonder if he has a new doo ?? Will the new look be in affect ?? O M G !! What ever will he wear ?? OOOPS, there I go getting too into the rumor *slaps himself into a sense of reality*

maybe she got the question: Who do you think is the biggest star in the world. And she answered: I think it's MJ.
 
OK, well I don't know what to think, for the past 20 years or so I've watched so many shows "just in case" that I lean towards he won't be there, but as usual I will watch just in case.

One thing I did think of though, didn't Simon Cowell make a statement about doing a big tribute for Thriller in 2008?? I think it was at the end of the last season or something, i don't know if they would do that on the finale show, but I guess anything is possible.

I think everyone should keep their fingers crossed, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen:flowers:

Tito, Katherine, Joe, Jermaine and Jackie have arrived at the airport in the U.K. a few moments ago and are on their way to their new home in Devon. More of the family are due to land in 20 mins.

Thanks for the update wes. I'm pleasantly surprised, I didn't expect for Katherine to be there. That's great. She is such a lovely, gracious woman, I hope there are a lot of fans there to greet her and the rest of the family.

I wasn't really interested in this whole Devon thing, but now that Katherine is there, my interest is in full swing. LOL!

Its seems as though the Channel 4 fly on the wall show will go ahead. Cameras will be at the party in Devon too...

I wonder if it will be on tv. I hate channel 4. They are the ones that just showed that nasty docu about MJ and they like to do the MJ face as well. They have always wanted MJ on their show . it will be interesing to see if they manage to get MJ to put in an appearance.
 
Channnel 4 did the Celebrity Big brother where they tried to mess-up Jermaine and it backfired on them. The entire country fell in love with jermaine. he came second after Shilpa, the jacksons are very popular in Britain and the media knows this.

Channel 5 showed Michael Jackson's Face not Channel 4. I think Channel 4 were always fair to Michael up until the most recent Doc was shown. Time will tell if this show will be good for The Jacksons or not.

I wonder will it be a once off or a series of shows

If they will portray the Jacksons as they really are, then it will be good for the Jacksons. I was very skeptical of Jermaine going to BB, but he did really well and i had a new found respect for him
I think the Jacksons are a very charismatic family and very tv friendly. People just love to watch them.
I don't think that they are all staying though, it is more that likely the parents are just visiting, if they are really doing a show then CH4 may have paid for the entire cast to come over. There will be much sponsorship involved too.

The big surprise guest performer during the American Idol finale tomorrow night will be “Freedom” hit-maker George Michael, a source has exclusively revealed.

Earlier this week, producer Nigel Lythgoe refused to reveal who the artist would be, only saying that the “biggest star in the world” was coming to Idol.

The appearance will time in nicely for the former Wham! frontman, who starts a 20-city tour on June 17 in San Diego in support of his recently released two-disc CD, Twenty-Five.

A rep for Idol would not confirm Michael’s appearance, while a rep for the singer could not be immediately reached.

In addition, David Cook and David Archuleta may perform Michael hits during the two-hour finale that will also include Carrie Underwood performing her new single, “Last Name.” Producers may still be making last-minute plans with additional singers

Personally, I think there are too many "Michael"s out there....it's CONFUSING!! I mean there's Michael BUBLE, Michael BOLTON, George MICHAEL, Michael JACKSON....!!! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

On the AI boards, some are saying that they wouldn't be surprised if the "Biggest Star in the world" is just Robert Downey Jr.

And after seeing this they could be right:

This morning during an interview on Ryan Seacrests's radio show Nigel Lythgoe (the executive producer)basically said that the biggest star in the world right now would be there. Then he said he didn't know why people jumped immediately to the fact that it's someone from the music business.

Uh, maybe because its a MUSIC show? :lol:... I'd lmao if they unveil the "biggest star" tonight and its actually just a physically large cut-out star used as the backdrop or some 'ish :rofl:.
