3 July 2008 ~~From BILLBOARD: HMH to be on both Akon and MJ's Albums

I have to repeat that practice of putting the same song on two albums by different artists, even in various versions, is rare and questionable.

That is why, despite reports, "HMH" song will be, most probably, on one album and it will be Akon's.
It's not that rare and certainly not questionable.

The Jackson Five released 'Git It Together' back in the mid seventies and the single from that LP, 'Dancing Machine', went to #1.

What did Motown do? They released the next J-5 LP titled 'Dancin' Machine'. I have both albums in my dust box... I mean storage... hee...

Beyonce put Dangerously In Love on 2 CDs, one with Destiny's Child and then it was released as a solo single on Beyonce's debut album.

RnB singers Brandy and Monica had a top hit with the duet 'The Guy Is Mine'. The single appeared on both of their albums.

It's done to sell the product, that's all.

I don't like Akon much either - but geesh - it is his song and we should be greatful that he CHOOSE to have Michael Jackson on it at all.
the guy was hardly gonna say no. its takes the song to another level with all the media reports concerning it. i doubt mj went begging LOL probably the otherway around after WBSS

It's a good song without Michael. It's a great song with Michael.

But as annoying as it is seeing people diss the song simply because Akon is on it, it is equally annoying to see people say that Michael needs Akon or that he wouldn't be on anything without Akon. That's not true, at all. Michael's been working since before he hooked up with Akon, and whether people realize it or not, the public is extremely curious as to what Michael is going to do. They are. The reaction to this Akon song, FEATURING Michael Jackson, is proof enough of that. Michael did Akon a favor by being on his record. Don't forget that.

"Junlees-Cona Review: Hold My Hand - Akon feat. Michael Jackson

After years of doubting if I would hear MJ on a track again, I heard this song today. The good part is that it's a good song, and I love MJ's verse at the beginning. Dude can still sing!

The bad part is that it's an Akon song, and the track dropped a level once he started singing. Dammit I wish this was just Mike's song, he sounded so good at the beginning. The background vocals that Mike does at the end is just great, and it sounds good with Akon.

With more listens I'm starting to love this song, and it's so nice to hear Mike on some new shit!"

I wasn't attacking Akon - I was more or less defending him as he has been one of Jacksons most staunch supporters after MJ's acquittal.

The above piece of information was displayed on this particular topic - so I believe it is very pertinent to be discussed.

I still believe the question begs - why do the vast majority of MJ fans believe this song would be better if Akon were not present on it? Again - would we be even having a discussion of NEW MJ music if it were not for quality musicians/producers such as Akon? Will i am?

Can beggers be choosers?
No, I don't think it's pertinent if you generalize like that, because you cannot quantify that that is the opinion of the vast majority of MJ fans. However, to answer your question, some fans just want MJ's voice on a record. It's called personal preferrence and people have a right to their personal preferrences.

Further, we wouldn't be having this discussion if it weren't for the buzz that Michael Jackson created with that leak with his voice on it.

Case in point: the leaking of HMH was previously done months ago with just the Akon vocals and I don't recall MTV or Billboard writing stories about it. Yet MJ recognizes the talent and potential of Akon and he certainly respects him as an artist, as he does with Will.I.Am.

Lastly, this is not a case of beggers being choosy. While I respect Akon and Will.I.am and other contempories out there doing their thing, when it comes to spending MY MONEY, it will be on Michael Jackson and others like him whose music and talents meet my personal standards of acceptance.

Jackson may have a strong influence but he doesn't dominate the industry anymore and therefore does need help from younger, talented, more involved producers such as Will i am and Akon just to name a few.

I doubt that MJ needs Akon or Will for any help. MJ always worked with people who are "hot" at the moment. That is how MJ rolled/rolls. MJ did enough to retire on. He did the song with Akon mainly because, I think, of what the late great James Brown told MJ via Rev. Al Sharpton. James Brown said that basically, MJ needs to get these young performers to clean up the mess in the music that people are listening to. That is exactly what MJ did/doing with HMH. Simple as that. MJ does not need any of these popular people to become relevant. He will always be relevant. I find it insulting that you stated that fans who think that MJ does not need help from the young cats are basically not level headed. MJ is better off, imo, doing work with Q, Kanye, Riley, Pharrell and himself. However, as you all can see, that is not happening. You do not know any of MJ fans personally to even say that. People just love to start something they know they cannot finished.

very true would anyone care if this song would have been leaked and it was just akons song? there wouldnt have been such a reaction across the internet or on bloggs and message boards talking about it cause mj is on it. the power andintrest ppl have im him has been shown just by this one song

It seems people still think that MJ is the drawing power he was in the late 80's and early 90's. The honest truth is most media outlets - the ones that matter anyway - do not really care about HMH. Billboard has yet to really offer up much about the song, Rolling Stone has yet to offer up anything about the collabo. That is hardly the public crying out for MJ. It is MJ fans crying out for MJ. I hate to be the one to speak of reality but the fact remains that in the past any song with MJ in it would demand 1st rate attention. For example: Black or White - was given a prime time slot of 30 minutes for the premier of the video as was the same for Remember the Time and Give in to Me. You Rock My World was given a full day dedicated to nothing but the video - which was played every 30 minutes on MTV.

The public - as of now - could care less bout MJ - as in actuality they only think of a "guilty" man who escaped conviction. It is sad - so sad - that THAT is what draws interest from the media - not a new song with the most silky, smooth, vocals by Michael Jackson in decades.

Most might disagree - as a result of their adoration for MJ - but I am just being "real."

I agree with this point. Yet I would be lying if I didn't also say that it does go a long way in re-establishing MJ back on the scene from a commercial perspective.

But I do want to add that KOPV isn't the only level headed person here. Bee is, so is WBSS and most of the members here.

Yet if some peeps prefer just hearing MJ, so be it. Personally, I don't care if MJ sings the ABCs with the Philaharmonic Orchestra! I just want to hear him SING!

I don't understand why everyone 'hates' on Akon. I may not be the greatest fan of his either - as by most of the comments here - many of you aren't either but the facts are whether we - as fans - want to admit or not - MJ has lost a lot of his "appeal" to the public.

I - personally - appreciate what Akon has done to help Michael return to the music industry. I think MJ displays a new, more mature sound on HMH. You don't hear many of the ticks, and grunts, shouts as per his old music.

I think Akon has done a great job helping Michael return to the music scene and I think it is a shame that many of you "knock" Akon and selfishly would rather Akon not be on the track at all.

Keep in mind - if it were not for Akon right now - we'd be forced to view another round of RE-hashed box sets of old classic songs that we already have anyway.

Akons leaked version has been on the web for 4 months and no one bothered to talk about it in the media, yet the very day that MJ version was leaked the whole world has errupted. I don't think it was Akon that they were talking about.
The entire world has been waiting for MJ to come out with some music. He would have caused a stir with or without Akon. You complain about people hating on Akon, yet you virtually turned around and dished it out on MJ. Akon's rep wasn't perfect either. He has lots of haters too, not just on this site.

You aren't being real. You're a victim of media manipulation. The public IS interested in Michael. A friend of mine was in the Virgin mega store in New York last week, and suddenly the big monitors in there began playing Michael's performance on Motown 25 and he said EVERYONE stopped what they were doing and starred up at the screens like zombies, just glued to the set. They couldn't look away. That's the kind of power Michael has when he performs.

"Rolling Stone" is a joke which caters to rock listeners and has hated on Michael for YEARS. But believe me, when this song gets released and goes top ten, they won't have any choice but to acknowledge it. "Billboard" wrote about it already and it hasn't even been released, meaning no one really knows much about it or what the planes are yet except Akon, Michael and the record label.

If you don't think the public is interested in Michael, then just wait and see. They are. Very much so. This is getting massive attention on the internet right now. People are excited about this BECAUSE it has Michael on it. Not because it has Akon on it.

And thanks to mello.

Yeah, well, we gonna disagree here. And you aren't being 'real'. You are being cynical and I suspect a bit more, but we will see.

Billboard just did an article on the songwriter of that leaked song -- today.

MTVnews.com has talked about this song in several articles with Akon and so has Rolling Stone Magazine.

So you are factually incorrect.

HRH was played on radio here in the states without authorization within mere hours of the leak. It is still being played overseas in snippets so that they can avoid problems.

And YES. This IS a MJ Fan club board. What do you expect here? People hating on MJ? Lamenting over his trials and tribulations?

Sorry to disappoint you, but we are in the no drama zone here.

And so this board and this thread will remain so. As of right now.

There is no question that the Medias #1 interest is MICHAEL..

Remember they never hunt for things when nothing is happening.. That is why they have left Michael alone.. Because he's not doing anything in public..

Take HOLD MY HAND for example.. The AKON SOLO version has been leaked for months now.. Now within 24 hours of an MJ vocal on the song is leaked.. we hear about it on the radio, tv, all over the online community..

exactly. like to explain that? someones brainwashed around here and i know who it aint.its a dangerous thing speaking for millions when you can only speak for yourself

you can say that again. wrong board for an argument you need facts on here. just awsell you werent here 03-05. if sneddon tries to shut your board down you know u are on to a good thing!

I pray to God that Michael never works with Pharrell and his drum machine... but that's just my opinion.

This explains why Akon's manager said the track isn't planned to be released as a single.. Maybe he said like that because the Akon track isn't planned to be released as a single BUT the Michael track that's maybe mostly his solo..? That'd be kinda interesting idea that Michael also would sung on this Akon track. It would help Akon's sales. And now when it was leaked, everyone thinks it's not that good but it's just good pr if Michael's track is different (meaning it's "solo"). And that version would sell well.

everyone uses drum machines - Mike just as heavily as anyone else. it's about knowing what syncopation is and how to exercise it properly - and The Neptunes do that nicely.

I get the feeling that some people are very unhappy that MJ fans are being happy at the moment. have you noticed how many have found their way to the board lately, with the same intentions.?

i think it's just the small negativities are always the loudest and more amplified because so many people give it attention. i was never one to share your conspiracies, Dats, and am still not lol

I am not trying to be a biatch or whatever but you only made 4 posts on this board and you are semi negative towards MJ. I understand that you are stating your opinion, but this is a news thread about the news of MJ. This is not about how dominate MJ is or was at a certain time. I do not see the point of your posts. First, you "accused" the fans on here for dissing Akon on here when clearly those comments came from another website. Second, you are trying to slighty trash MJ by saying he needs Will and Akon to make hits. (Damn, I am shocked that vstreet on here to rip it up on this thread, LOL!) Third, you are trying to say that MJ does not have the dominate force that he once had in the 1980s and 1990's. If that was the case, why on all of the blogs, fan boards and news sites (that we have see so far) most of the responses of the song was positive towards MJ? Not any of those sites were fan sites. Why were some of the people posting on these sites were stating that they wanted MJ on that song by himself instead of Akon? I mean, I am just stating the facts, dawg.

Most media outlets aren't focusing on the facts to begin with. They care about scandals and BS. Most media outlets are controlled anyway and tell their employees what to write, report and say. I am not expecting most of the media to report anything positive on MJ. TMZ never posted this info and I am not expecting them to. They are haters. Haters don't waste their time giving props to the people they hate.

No one cares about the Rolling Stones (mostly a rock music/pop culture magazine that be hating on Mike) or some members of the public (some who do might not even go on blogs or even used the computer for that matter). What cares is that the Internet leaked the song (well, it was posted on youtube), people responded and most of it was positive. This is great news for MJ so why aren't you happy for the man? Four years ago, the fan community was dealing with an uncalled for trial. Four years later, the fans community, most of them, are celebrating the fact that MJ is doing what he loves to do: sing. You are being "real"? Really? Well, I think you are just starting some mess that you can't finished. I don't know if I can accept your opinions. I just might have to for the sake of the message board. However, I totally disagree with everything that you have stated.

Thanks for calling me level headed, mello. I see your point about this :

I didn't also say that it does go a long way in re-establishing MJ back on the scene from a commercial perspective

MJ can still do a song by himself and maybe still get that perspective.

very true if i know you bee lol. jus dont let them get to you. i think its kinda obvious why they have popped up on the board with all of 3-4 posts

i think it's just the small negativities are always the loudest and more amplified because so many people give it attention. i was never one to share your conspiracies, Dats, and am still not lol
3 People joined thew board in the last 24 hours and their first post were to attack the song, Akon and even MJ. I have no conspiracy I have evidence. Other fans noticed it too.

Maybe, but we know how influential the press can be, however negative and agenda driven they are. The leak puts them on notice that MJ still has it. Some of them can't be too happy about that...

I know what to say to that person. I got this.

Oh yeah. Those haters can't be too happy that Michael can still sing and still got it. Notice the main haters, Perez, ET, bossip, TMZ haven't even utter a word or anything about the song.

But if it were a non-starter, that would be all they would be talking about....

I think Mj wrong footed them. They had no time to sabbotage the project as they have done in the past. The public has already heard it and they like it.

This is why I don't worry about MJ keeping his project close to his chest. He must wrong foot the media again.
