BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For [General Discussion]

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

wow...Ivy that quality looks AMAZING!!! Thank you for posting that...:D

Ok, it's time for little critics :naughty:

1. It's strechted to 16:9 which is distorted picture.
2. It's overcontrasted therefore white patches eat much detail.
3. It's SOOO pixely. Poor encoding (I believe converted many times). (here some might say it's youtube's fault. but no it's not really. youtube leaves minor compression which is not this noticable. user had this video already pixely before uploading on yt)

And little compare :D

VHS and DVDs on small screens are alright, but if you spread that video over a large screen you can say bye bye to the clean pictures as there aren't as many pixels as in a blu-ray..

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

By the time the Bad Tour is released on Blu-ray you will all be complaining that Blu-ray is outdated! (( Holographic Versatile Disc will probably be the next big thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc ))

Well... I don't think the concerns we expressed or the questions we asked are unreasonable. We do live in the age of Blu-ray now. Releaseing a DVD of VHS rip in 2012 feels like releasing a cassette tape in 2002. Although not 100% sure, it is fair to assume the Bad Tour was recorded on film. So, isn't it funny that the only source of the Bad Tour is a VHS tape?

Well who's to blame for using DVDs in the middle of teh blu-ray era invented by... well, do I have to say by whom?

damn...look at all the people....Michael surely knew how to pack-em-in. I wish I was there...:(.....I just cannot wait for the release of this dvd...:woohoo:

Holy shit! You're right! That's a WEMBLEY shot!

What is happening? What is the reason the estate doesn't use the footage that was shot on this film?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I will see it on 40" and 60" flatscreens. - So hope the quality will be great on the big screen too!

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

You're correct.

But this is a new era, people learn from obstacles. The estate and Sony ain't no different. Plus it's been proven that they are listening to our demands.

There is by the way still no hard proof that more than one song was recorded on film (Man in the mirror).

I'm pretty sure Another Part Of Me was recorded on film too. There is most likely at least one complete show on film somewhere, but you are right about the fact that there is no proof. Which makes me a very sad panda...

I really hope they nail this release though, it's gonna be a long time until they release another show. I'll be happy if the picture quality is about as good as on the Bucharest DVD. Too bad they screwed up the audio royally on that release... I don't think that's going to happen here, but the fact that they're gonna squeeze a two hour show onto a single CD is making me a little worried. I mean, they would have to compress it a lot, wouldn't they? What if they compress the hell out of it and put a sh*tty mix on the DVD?

Wow... buddy, your version are much better! The stretch one looks blurry. Yours are much truer.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

well, when I sent the email I asked for still shots from DVD to be able to judge the quality.

So to me that reply that means release of examples, snippets and so on. There's 4 months to the release date of the DVD which means it won't probably happen overnight.

The quality might be okay and we might be worrying for nothing. They can simply demonstrate this by releasing samples, pictures, snippets - over the upcoming 4 month period. Or the quality improvement might be limited due to source, they can again explain it. Perhaps it's still being worked on. Who knows?

I think we'll get more information in the upcoming months.

If you get the pictures, please judge the quality of the pictures on a big screen such as 127 inches.

why you burst my bubble.... ..haha....just kidding....:D. I don't know what to think...what i DO know is that I just want that DVD....NOW..:jump:

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

It probably is on film....Would Michael settle for anything less? I doubt it...It was a HUGE, HUGE tour...

The question is WHO has it?

Deep down I just don't believe that the VHS copy is the ONLY copy out there...ever, ever...lol...

I read somewhere that it was MJ who refused to release the tours for some business reasons and issues he used to have with SONY. If I remember correctly from what I had read, he was trying to remain the only owner of his videos and was afraid that SONY gets hold of them.

I read the article a long time ago and I can't accurately remember all the info in that artcle as I didn't bother because I always tought that one day or anothe MJ was going to release them. Of course I hadn't expected MJ to die so soon and now to see the Estate with seemingly empty hands not only regarding the videos, but also the unerleased songs. Time wsill tell. Let's hope for the best anyway. :)

Better now then when you buy the DVD and discover it by watching it :D

Joking, sorry, didn't inted to burst your bubble, I was just being realistic that's all. Old timers like us are used to crap quality. As far as I am concerned the Etsate can even release it on a video cassette I still have a functional VCR. And by the way it'd complete my video tape collection from 1988

I'm not special. If and when we get any information, all the fan sites would get it so we can all judge it together when the time comes

Ivy, you ARE very special... ;)

Yup, by the time more info is released, all the video-philes and specialists can look at it and give us their verdicts.

Sure, we have no choice, do we?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Personally I'm really looking forward to this. We're spoilt nowadays really by great quality film, sound and effects (though I know that the latter isn't applicable here!) If it's done well, this'll be awesome. If not, it'll still be great! We've been waiting so long for this :bounce: we should all be excited!

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

^Yeah, but SONY invents blu ray for better entertainment and release THE Michael Jackson on VHS quality. YAY... not. :D

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

This wait is gonna be so long. They should release the dvd earlier.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I'm sure the final quality will be great lets wait and see.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

If we want the final quality to be great, then we need to let them hear our voice.

Instead of waiting and being complacent with the news that DVD of Bad Tour will be released soon, we can let the Estate and Sony know we care about quality too.

Before Visions was released, I thought Sony would really spend the effort to remaster the videos and upgrade them to 2010 standard. Well... we all know the quality of Visions. We certainly don't want it to happen again.

We all want Sony to nail this project and do the best that they can on Bad Tour.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Vision was very disappointing... Quality wise...

But Still, I hate to watch things on the widescreen that does not use the entire screen. - Those black bars in the sites are so annoiyng.

There is no VHS or DVD on earth that will allow you to watch them on a wide screen without deteriorating the quality due to the fact thatthe screen is too large for those media supports.

Completely agree..What is SO frustrating is that the quality could be outstanding...For me anyway, that's why I want this released in the first place, to see it in great quality....We KNOW it's out there....We just have to be the squeaky wheel...If we know there's a possibility that we can get even better, why not inquire about it? ;)

Exactly! Think about it. Is it hard to believe that the only source of Bad Tour available to be widely released is a VHS tape? If the Estate doesn't have the master film, then who? How could the Estate be even less resouceful than collector fans?

I know. But I hope they do not make black bars. So if people wants to stretch the picture to fill the entire screen they can - and if people wanna see it the way it is supposed to be they can just choose 4:3. - If the make the black bars a part of the picture that's not possible.

If BAD tour was filmed on film - and those films are found they would be 16:9 right?
