Bubs, no clarification post?
Krizkil, you may believe it is acceptable for Gest and Cascio to profit from their memories (including omissions and/or embellishments) of Michael and not for Mann to through Michael’s beneficiaries. I believe that is a contradiction.
I have no problem if Mann wants to distribute this film. My issue is with the funding for licensing fees. Katherine is not a producer for this film so she will not see any monies from this funding; Mann/Lowe will if they do not give $3.2M in full to the executors. Ivy has already explained Katherine will see 25% of profits. Profits should not be confused with funding. Katherine will not receive any monies from this funding no matter how many times that is erroneously suggested and repeated.
You also cannot guarantee that if those funds are realized that the executors will not accept the licensing fee. Michael’s estate is still in debt, in case you forgot so, they may not be in the position to reject that sum and their statement did not suggest they would reject that sum.
Serendipity, you will have to point out the excuse I made and who I am excusing in that post. Again, this is about Mann attempting to fund a licensing fee which I believe to be a scheme for him and Lowe. Some fans are not focused on that because this is another opportunity to voice their distaste for whichever Jackson for whatever their reasons. Katherine will only realize 25% of the film’s profits NOT from funding the licensing fee.
Bonnie Blue, love that phrase.
Korgnex, I was unaware that a documentary by an Academy award nominated director was considered a minor project.
Last Tear, I do not believe TMZ spoke to Weitzman. They most likely pulled the quotes from the statement posted in this thread. The TMZ article is incorrect as Katherine will not get access to the funding monies; Mann/Lowe will.
