Michael Jackson's fans are reportedly shelling out up to 3,000 pounds in bribes to have a look at the star's final resting place in Glendale, California.
The singer's family was said to be fuming after followers were littering the marble tomb at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park with disrespectful photos.
"The family believe some former staff members who can find their way around existing security have been smuggling in fans for visits and charging them up to 3,000 pounds for the privilege," The Daily Star quoted a source close to the family as saying.
"Fans are taking in memorabilia and posing for inappropriate or even disrespectful photos next to Michael's tomb. It has got completely out of hand. Photos of Michael's final resting place have been turning up on websites all over the net and it is really starting to upset the family.
"Then there's the worry about safety and security. There is a risk the fans could scratch or deface Michael's marble tomb or take away keepsakes left behind by friends and family.
"The family are now taking steps to drastically reduce the number of people able to visit Michael's burial site and security has been tightened up. As part of the new measures, the list of people actually allowed into the mausoleum will now include family only and no one else," the source added.

Oh... My... God.
Oh... My... God.

If this is true... it's not only a shame on those making this "business", but even worst in those enabling these people. We must respect Michael, despite OUR own pain. I mean... yes, sure, we all suffer and we all wish we could pay our respect to Michael, but the first way would be simply respecting his final resting place!!! Paying to be there is simply so wrong. Why financing those disrespecting Michael and his family this way????

What's wrong with us? How did we come to this, for God sake? :weeping:

Ok... I don't have any right to judge other people, but then... this is so wrong, so wrong......

That's just wrong. It's gonna cost the good fans who do thing appropriately to get shafted because of a few bad apples who want attention to say, "I got to visit Mike's grave, I'm better than you."

Mike deserves his privacy.

This article is attributing this to "The Daily Star" and a source close to the family. What is the The Daily Star? A reliable media outlet ? (if there is such a thing)

Do we know this for sure?
I agree with you this is also to bash MJ fans and to make us look as crazy freaky fans, but... aggggg.... this is so wrong

Sure this will bring some trouble to the fans going there, privately, quietly, just for him, to stand outside respectfully :(

I hope this is but a LIE.

Who Needs Proof? We All Do!

"People write negatives things because they feel that's what sells. Good news, to them, doesn't sell." ~ Michael Jackson

Mmm-hmmm.
At a time when MJ fans are coming together in a focused, diligent effort to fight for justice in his name, the UK tabloid Daily Star chose today to publish unkind, unsubstantiated reports that some have paid bribes for the opportunity to visit his final resting place:
£3K Bribes To See Michael Jackson's Burial Site.
Who they're paying is unclear, it just says employees and former employees. What payroll are/were they on? Jackson? Forest Lawn? People have been interpreting it both ways.
This is the first clue that the story has a lot of holes in it, punctuated with a possible agenda. Regardless, this "news" has already begun to go viral on the internet as unquestionable fact.
I have questions. Like, how reliable is the source? They sound out of the loop and behind the times to me.
"They are littering the crypt with memorabilia and even posing for macabre photos by the megastar’s marble tomb."
The hundreds of tributes that adorn the area surrounding his sarcophagus are not left by a handful of fans. They have been delivered to the Holly Terrace patio doors in organized group gatherings and by individual visitors. Items that include flowers and balloons are then placed inside by cemetery personnel alone, no fans go in with. I have witnessed this many times, both large amounts from groups and single offerings.
Additionally, Forest Lawn confirmed to me in February that the Jackson family was made aware of these tributes by a high-ranking Forest Lawn executive and as a result asked that non-perishable items like cards, photos, artwork and letters be collected for them as they amass.
If any photos of fans posing in front of the sarcophagus exist, disrespectfully or otherwise, I haven't seen them published anywhere online. I've Googled my little fingers raw looking. If you have seen them, please send me the link.
“The family are now taking steps to drastically reduce the number of people able to visit Michael’s burial site and security has been tightened up. As part of the new measures, the list of people actually allowed into the mausoleum will now include family only and no one else.”
Forest Lawn confirmed to me that the Jacksons did edit a previously-robust list of approved visitor names down to just family members. Only family, or individuals personally accompanied by a family member, are allowed to visit MJ.
This, however, is not a new measure.
According to what Forest Lawn officials told me months ago, this decision was made after private photos which originally appeared on Facebook (I can confirm, I saw them there) ended up as exclusives on TMZ in October. I touched on those controversial images on this blog in November after communicating with primary sources involved in the situation.
I've heard, from multiple sources including insiders at Forest Lawn, about details involving investigations made into who sold what to whom and for how much since Michael died. Bribes have never been a part of those conversations and neither has paperwork that would back up anything I've heard.
Let me clarify one important point -- discussion is one thing, but without documented proof of any such allegations, speculating further on it in writing on the internet as fact puts us all in the irresponsibly slanderous gutter with the tabloids.
Not going there.
And I urge you not to either.
With so many other important issues looming on the Justice For Michael Jackson front today -- Conrad Murray's next court date on April 5 for starters -- why in the world would the family leak this particular story now? To what end?
It just doesn't make sense. Is it just me, or do you hear a big ole ax grinding somewhere in Unidentified Sourceland? Someone wants our collective attention without proving themselves worthy of it. It annoys me to no end.
There is a bigger picture here, too.
The additional danger in accepting this article as fact is that hundreds of innocent fans who have had the opportunity to visit Forest Lawn respectfully, to spend time at the Holly Terrace patio in order to express and process their grief (as people do in a cemetery) are being maligned. Moreover, this healing opportunity could be jeopardized in the future because of it.
And for what?
It very well may be true that at least one individual paid someone to get inside the mausoleum and do whatever. That, if proven, would be the real story. If I can verify it, you'll read about it here.
In the meantime, please keep in mind that this type of storytelling is purposely distortive and intentionally destructive. It lacks value and integrity. It's propaganda.
The tabloids don't care about your or me -- or backing up allegations with proof -- they care about making a profit and a name for themselves by breaking stories that other media will pick up on and give them credit for.
I hesitated to write about this because I didn't want to give this story another bump online, nor take the focus off of the amazing fan justice campaign currently in full swing. But so many of you have asked me about it that I felt you deserved a response, and that this editorial was the right way to do it.
Thank you for your emails and messages, and for caring enough to seek out the truth in a responsible manner.
Ask questions.
Demand proof.
Make that change.

Thank you Lisa Burke
I rest my case _ Bunch of Tabloid Junkies (sheesh)
Why even go there AGAINST fans with NO source

a close family friend or insider is NO source
all tabloids use that so they can write any thing they want
and not have to answer for it _ a real source has a NAME ..

This story was written to discredit fans now that Mj is gone
why dont you get it _ get it get iT ...

I don't believe fans would do something like that. I just don't. Thanks for posting what Lisa Burke wrote about it. Now they are attacking the fans to discredit us before the trial.

this story is so fake. firstly its from the daily star! and secondly anyone can go into the grounds of forest lawn and upto the entrance.no need to pay. they act as if fans are actually going inside

Even before I read the lisa burks thing this story sounded like such a lie to me.

Yehhh fans would pay $3,000 to leave disrespectful photos next to Michael's grave :smilerolleyes:perrrrlease.

Plus don't they have security there?

Its that famous A. Source again. I wonder, who is Mr/Ms A. Source? That goes around to all these low class tabloids giving them an excuse to write these sensational stories.. :fortuneteller:

Since when did the Daily Star have words, I thought they just had pictures?

If (and there's a big IF) this story had the tiniest touch of credibility, it would become a very big problem for Forest Lawn as a company. It would really be a serious blow on their reputation. I don't think they would ever allow anything like that happen on their grounds. What's happening in the mausoleum is their responsibility. Even if there are some people willing to pay this money to see the resting place, it's Forest Lawn's responsibility to make sure things like that do not happen.

Well I dont want to click their link and pay them for writing this garbage
Tabloids get paid by the advertisers for every hit to the page ... if it is
lucritive for them _ they will print more of the same_starve them
but thanks for the source :)

fans read the story above instead of going to the link

I wouldn't put it past former staff to do this but there's no way FL security would let them in with fans, they aren't stupid. Plus there's absolutely no photos? Yeah... I hate tabloids.

that's not true. I'd like state what I really think but I'm biting my tongue

Before I am so quick to say if this story is true or not..I Do want to say that their ARE some crazy fans out there that would make the rest of us normal fans look bad. we all know this. Secondly...the family just pulled the extra security that was at Michae's tomb away..dont you all remember??...And when they did that ..we said then..it is only a matter of time before ish starts happening. So maybe the should stop being so damn cheap with Michael's money and put the damn extra security back..that way there will be no more stories like this one.
