I think Michael made his experience with "Dancing the Dream". With it he tried something different and it was NOT appreciated. "Dancing the Dream" is far from being pop. There are beautiful poems, and when I recite them for myself I sense that there must be wonderful music in them as well.
I think Michael was very hurt by that rejection. Indeed he voiced his frustration about the public's ignorance towards it. It's a shame!
Side note: imo with "Dancing the Dream" Michael showed what a pioneer he truly is. The pieces about selfishness and about the earth have never been as up-to-date as they are today.
I agree with that, all the way. Thta book isn't even in print anymore, which is so ridiculous, because it's one of the most insightful and observant pieces of work I've ever seen. You're right, it wasn't pop at all, there was nothing about it that would fall in to a trendy state. It was Just a written example of Michael's philosophies and perceptions and his ideals and values. And glimps in to how he sees the world, and it's the most amazing thing because of that. I wish more people knew about this book, because it gives a greater insight in to who Michael is then just about anything. You're probably right, people basically rejected it and i think, for Michael, if it isn't accepted, then what's the point. He want's his work to be accepted, because I think he feels that's what creates real impact. I think that's why he's always wanted to be at the top, because he want's acceptance and he want's his work to have signifigant value, not because he's got a massive ego. And it's probably the same reason he's never released any of this classical music he's composed. It sucks. If people didn't have their heads up their asses and actually knew what was quality and good, this wouldn't be the case.
