They are trying to get a rise out of people, There are plenty people who don't like Mike on other fan forums that I go to, and I prefur not to argue because it would be stupid. While I commend you for standing tall and strong for Michael, don't forget Michael's wonderful message of love. :huggy:
Even to those who are ignorant and mean. Don't fall in the same path. It's an ugly one which will lead to more ugliness.
There's always better ways of educating or debating with others. The hardest way seems to be when you have to hold back aggression and find it in your heart to somehow make an effort to educate with plenty of kindness rather than being smug and snarky. Even if they don't care. In the long run, you may have made a world of difference when that person sits and thinks back about his/her encounter with you last week or so. We all make mistakes.
But we are also held responsible for those mistakes.

Take care of each other. At least try. Especially if you really are a Michael Jackson fan.

Good on you for being resilient. But be mindful of your actions too. Shakira seems to be a wonderful person. And she definitely is a big fan of MJ herself.

Some who call themselves fans, aren't always fans. Just people who have nothing else to do in their lives but follow a crowd and cause trouble.

I come across many haters on sites, even where we vote for Michael. There are nasty comments. I ignore these because I think they are trying to get a rise out of someone. They feel the same pleasure after their get you to respond in anger to them, that you and I feel after love making, having a good meal, going to an MJ concert. They seek out sites for one purpose only--to make a nasty comment and for you to respond. Why make their day? I rather deal with people by giving them books by Jones or better yet give them links to sites that have the facts. Imagine if you respond to them by telling them how much you love them as a human being, etc., how much you will startle them!!! They will not know how to respond. I have tried this with MJ haters or negative people in general that I meet face to face and it works. I work with different families every year, and believe me, I come across all the ranges of personalities. If I did not approach people in this way, I would be angry all the time. Worse scenario, they would reduce me to their level and that would be "unthinkable." Fight them with love, kindness, and give them concrete (physical, tangible) things to enlighten them. It works!! Lately, I met someone who felt Michael was a P------. I asked them why in a mild tone of voice. They gave the usual media nonsense. I replied OK. I will give you something to read. I gave them the book by Aphrodite Jones, and I cut out the drawing with the poem he wrote about "Before you judge me try hard to love me......" I found this in the booklet of one of the CD's. This is what I meant about giving something concrete and tangible. The person read the book and we now have a new fan. I told her to share the book with others. I have learned that arguing with people about their beliefs is sometimes not the best way to go when it comes to Michael. Another example, a serviceman came to my apartment to work on the wiring. He saw my Michael Jackson pictures and began, of course, talking about the allegations. He believed they were true and that Michael was shady. His reason was that the kid described Michael's penis, which we know was not accurate. He picked the best place to pronounce his wrong ideas--my home. I immediately asked him if he had any other house calls to make and he said no. I showed him videos, gave him a book and a CD. The first video I showed him was Earth Song where Michael is singing about the planet and you see the animals dying. When he saw that, he said that someone like that could not be a mo-----, that he cared about people and all he was saying was to take care of the earth. At that point, he was already sold on the idea that what he believed was faulty. By the time we started talking about the facts he would find in the book and the website, he was converted. I even showed him videos of Michael singing on TV with the Jackson 5. I will never see this person again, but I know he left with a good experience. His sister also believed the same ideas he had about Michael and I know he would straighten her out too. Peace

hehe ...hahaha (off topic) im not insulting shaki because of these particular fans, but i know what you mean, i was a fan of shakira from ago, but its gotten annoying with the rappers in her songs constantly saying the same thing about her hips in every lyrics of every song! i wish she would know she could carry a song without a rapper making it a hit! and her latest video with lil wayan is so american latino not latin america. it was more J.LO. to me. shakira does her own unique thing, but then goes and trys to hard to fit american girl again. i guess older fans know what i mean...

I don't think the OP was neccesarily trying to slam Shakira, but it's when it comes to Michael haters alot of time you have to draw these comparisons to shut people up.

I had this problem over at an anime forum, I'd post the BS but I dun want any crossforum tension.....all I'll say is that the mods there are so biased and lame, they even locked my thread about Evan Chandler killing himself and they said "Get Over Your Obsession With Michael Jackson":mello:.....they just couldnt handle the fact that Michael was innocent and they were all wrong.
