1 thing to point out which i love, if you listen to michael just before the first chorus when he sings "if you just" he holds the nose and drags it out which not many people would have done just listen to akons Generic sound when he sings that part on the second chorus start, I also noticed Michael drags his vocals out longer than they seem, just listen this is where michaels expertise comes in![]()
Well one should be able to clearly define Michael's voice from Akon's, simply because their timbre is completely different from one another's. On top of it, Akon doesn't use vibrato, while Michael clearly does. But the way Akon phrases when he sings I think Michael was clearly imitating in the opening verse.

I agree with you. Michael's voice is purer and has a much better tone, and he does have a little vibrato but akon doesn't. I think they tried to blend well together, and Michael also tried to tone himself down to be more like a backup singer through most of the song. He wasn't giving it his all except for the verse he sang at the beginning and then some of his ad libs. He was just imitating Akon and trying to blend with him. Not only that, but they layered their lines so sometimes you can hear Michael, and two Akons or Akon and two Michael's overlapping each other, esp. during the bridge.
